We caught up with Bob Omondi, a 27-year-old First Officer at Kenya Airways. Since joining Kenya Airways, Bob has flown about 4000 hours. On this video, he opens up to his journey, experience, and a word for fellow young people who would want to be pilots.

I like this guy. There is no pretension there. He is lucky that at such a young age he is intelligent, has common sense, honesty. and knows what he wants, it takes most Americans till their 30s and older to finally get it right. His upbringing was probably supportive. He is going places. people like to invest in intelligence, ambition and honesty.
A lot of ppl are measuring their success with his...truth is everyone has a timeline in their lives maybe your success is up ahead just be patient or listen to jayshetty if your feeling pressure

Brothers and sisters everything is possible. I'm from Congo and I got my commercial license at age 36. I fly cargo for FedEx because I did not want to deal with people. But yes my people, it's possible.

At 27 I was doing my internship pale inda LungaLunga getting a stipend of KES200 a day. Still, it was my first shot in my career, so I still appreciate the chance. Bigup my manager then Chetan Vyas.

was in the same AB Initio group with Bob, went through all the aptitude tests and parted ways at the last test where I failed in my psychomotor . was into music when we met and still I am just controlling a different kind of cockpit. Proud of your achievements bro.. and that heads up on the psychomotor ..i always tend to assume 'ilicome through'

Wish him the best, trust me at 26 you are alive, mentally okay not doing anything illegal you are doing so much good and just sit down speak to yourself and figure out what you really want to then try and do it if you achieve it now good if you achieve it in 10 years all good. in this circle of life all of us have a specific role and all of us are equally important in that task. Hes amazing at his job but thats just one aspect of life remember

When I worked there, there was a problem with the pilots getting too much money at a young age and getting into drugs. It's the "reason" they removed it.
Beryl, that's an asinine reason. They'd simply raise the recruitment age to eliminate that "problem". KQ is struggling financially and can't afford to run the program anymore.
There is really strong desire, passion and urge in me to become a pilot but i dont think that will ever happen in kenya because of the backward way of using grades to define somebody and i scored way below C+. I still cant let go off the dream. I wish all those who have already achieved their dreams all the best

ive tried soo hard to become a pilot,,i got an A in math and B + in the other sceinces in high school ..i even dropped out of campus to work in dubai so as to raise the required amount .,, its getting harder by the day to realise this dream ,, mainly because of the cost ,i wish someone someday will lend a helping hand,

How would I get into KQ am a Kenyan citizen with an FAA commercial pilot license?
You need to convert the license to a Kenyan commercial pilot license.There are some exams and flights that you will do at Kcaa ofcourse after paying the conversion fee.After getting the Kenyan license,you can then apply to KQ as direct entry pilot.
Try gulf airlines they are far much better&easier to get in, KQ has so many problems right now+gulf airlines have better terms for their crew

How much marks do you need to be a pilot
You need a good grade. Above C+ you're ok
A C+ is the min requirement but for you to be on a safer hand mybe B+ is also good

Can he land a broken plane without casualties? , I think still wet behind ears , would have felt better if he was airforce first
It is easier to fly a plane than a car.Automatic pilot and everything is digital.pilots only take off and land and rare is the plane flys manual.
