Plot twist: Though he returned home in one piece, Chandler bet all his family's savings AGAINST Thab, causing his parents to lose their house and kicking him to live alone on the streets. Chandler's life spiraled out of control after that, until eventually he died the very next day from over-dosing on sugar. In his dying breath, he cursed Thab one last time for being such a great gamer, swearing to get his revenge in his next life as the janky controls of Superman for the N64!
In 2028 when this series is wrapping up, someone's going to stumble upon it for the first time and have so much great content to look forward to. I'm kinda jealous.
Can't wait for Superman, absolutely blessed game. I will never forget how the speedrun lowers the screensize in the options menu down to 10% in order to slightly improve the frame rate and are forced to play the entire game on a microscopic screen. True gamer bliss.
OMG I did not get the notification for this video for some reason, only realized it when I got the notification for episode 7! This one was so funny! The endless 0-0, the story of Chandler and his quest to reunite with his family, and the bamboozlement about Florida having two Hockey teams in warm weather (with Wikipedia screenshots included lol), it came together really well and I had quite a few laughs.
Hey Thab! The default settings are fine but I 1000% recommend choosing the setting that would make the game the most fun for yourself! You have a lot of these to go through and having to see someone slogging through something they clearly dont enjoy/burnout isnt always the most fun to watch! I think it was a great idea to change the settings mid-way so you can keep a bit of your sanity. Thanks for the awesome series!
Love the series! I played hockey for 10 years myself, and while I enjoyed watching it on TV I never really enjoyed the games.... except for NHL Hitz 2002 for the gamecube. Making the game less about scoring and more about destroying your friends was what did it for me
I just realized that you're not reading the manual before playing... That would've cleared up a lot of confusion you have at the beginning of the games
I live in north Florida. The reason there are two hockey teams down in Tampa and Miami is because there are a ton of snowbirds: people who come from up north where hockey is more popular and movie to FL for retirement and stuff. It's profitable. Of course you have to play on a rink and can't do it outside. And yes, in north Florida it CAN snow and gets below freezing. The problem is when the weather is cold enough, the skies are usually clear. It will snow around once or twice a decade, so it's really special when you do see snow in FL.
Im still confused with the Simulation and stuff, but its amazing how you turned a Boring Game to Something enjoyable to watch! :) And I really Love this series so far!
This is such an ambitious series, and I love it. Big shout out for grinding through these sports games. I appreciate how you use your gaming skills and strategies for any type of game.
I've been watching for ages youtube, but I caught a stream for the first time the other day. Thab and his chat are really great to hang out with, give them a try some time!
Man, this is a bold series. There's no way I could do this(at least not as quickly as you.) I would end up getting my ass handed to me in sports games, racing games, fighting games, and probably 1st person shooters, as I've always sucked at those, and have never taken the time to "git gud". I never even beat goldeneye as a kid, mostly due to the fact that I got it way after it came out, and always just played multiplayer at friends houses. The only way I would beat any of these types of games would be if I put it on an easier setting. I actually did have a hockey game on 64(I forgot what it was called), that coincidentally all my friends had. It also had the fighting breaks, and the one-time shots(I believe you tapped or held A and B at the same time) were where like 90% goals were scored. I'm curious to see what games give you trouble.
Fascinating that you know so few (nothing) about hockey ! In these old games one timers are often a very good way to score. Taking shots with better players also gives you better chance since they have better ratings. Lindros, Leclair and Brind’Amour were the best Flyers players during these years. Colorado and Detroit would have been good options too.
This is a great way to "beat" a sports game imo. Glad Chandler was able to be rescued! (also after watching some of it on stream, I can't wait for the superman video lol)
I started watching your videos recently (I thik it was in November last year) and I'm really enjoying this series. Every video has been more fun than the last one, keep it up!
Offsides is not a penalty in ice hocky. Penalties are reserved for more serious offences such as slashing, hooking, boarding, spearing, cross checking and high sticking. Minors equal 2 minutes in the box. Majors such as fighting equal 5 minutes in the box. Misconducts such as unsportsmanlike conduct can either get you 10 minutes in the box or out for the entire game. Those are referred to as game misconducts.
Talks about Florida - Thab not taking into consideration that ice hockey takes place in a chilled indoor arena 😜 bless you mate. I'm from the UK and have no idea about hockey rules either though, even though my hometown has a team. Blackburn Hawks, woo! (No idea how good they are 😂).
There’s NHL Teams in Florida, but also three in California, One in Arizona, one in Vegas and one in Texas. The arena keeps the ice cold, it’s not like these games are played outside 😂
Love to see the utter and repeated confusion on why Florida would have not one, but two hockey teams. The short answer is: money 10/10 video though, love to see someone go out of their comfort zone but still find moments of enjoyment.
Cmon, Beast! You’re an awesome gamer. But don’t talk trash about hockey! I don’t do sport games either but hockey in reality is a great sport to watch. NHL players are real tough men. In my opinion that is... It’s pretty much the only sport our family and friends go to. Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. BLUEJACKETS GO!!!
I'm finding this series late, but had to leave this here: as a Florida man, the answer is nobody. nobody is playing hockey in Florida, it's practically not a thing; I was surprised to find out today that we have 2 teams.
Donkey Kong 64 - Rating 7/10, Difficulty 7/10 Diddy Kong Racing - R. 9/10, D. 7/10 Indy Racing 2000 - R. 5/10, D. 3.5/10 BattleTanx - R. 5/10, D. 5/10 Tonic Trouble - R. 2.5/10, D. 4/10 NHL Breakaway 98 - R. 4/10, D. 3/10
ThaBeast-I thought it was funny Florida had a team. It doesn't even get cold enough to have snow. Me- ya, they have 2 teams now. I live in Minnesota, and our original team went to DALLAS. Its all about how many fans you can get to buy your merch
Haha its great you beat the Devils. Just a year later Scott Stevens destroyed Lindros and his career. If this is all I get as a fan of the Legion of Doom - well, at least it's something.
Picks the 1998 New Jersey Devils... Game is boring and ends 1-0 in overtime... Everyone complains about pace of games... HISTORICAL ACCURACY!
Needs more Stevens taking out Lindros though
That and watching the Dallas Stars would've been the same
That was actually accurate as fuck
The f******n TRAP!! 😂
should’ve picked the red wings
I love this series, and It's cool that Chandler went on to star in Friends. What a great ending!
😂 😂 😂
Plot twist: Though he returned home in one piece, Chandler bet all his family's savings AGAINST Thab, causing his parents to lose their house and kicking him to live alone on the streets. Chandler eventually discovered their family were the F.R.I.E.N.D.S they made along the way
Maybe you should just complete a season to beat the game. No matter which result you get.
I guess time travel is a thing then
3:37 “I started to get a bit more of an idea of how to play” as he has his goalie skate the puck all the way out to the red line. 😬😄
Lol right ?
Hey sometimes you gotta go for the fearless intimidation tactic
if only he'd chosen the Avs he could've reenacted Roy's famous spinorama moment from the same season the game was based in
In 2028 when this series is wrapping up, someone's going to stumble upon it for the first time and have so much great content to look forward to. I'm kinda jealous.
Me coming back here to get it started early having Chandler to add to the suspense was so good
I started watching with a few other vids that popped up in the past month or so but now wanting more just starting from the beginning lol.
Just stumbled upon it at around the halfway mark! It's great stuff!
What a funny thing to put in the game. Never expected a missing child announcement.
And having voice recordings was usually only for something important on these games. It's hilarious.
when i played this in 98 as a 7 year old i was amazed they had the ticker at the bottom of the screen showing scores from other games
Thank goodness Chandler is safe, I was so concerned
That moment when u realize chandler was actually in New Jersey, who he ended up knocking out of the playoffs himself 😶
This challenge is my favorite thing on youtube atm.
Same
Love how Thab has absolutely no idea about hockey xD
Chandler couldn't resist the forbidden tastes of the concession stand. Glad you got him home safe.
Legend has it Chandler still visits the concession stand for a $9 hot dog and $15 beer just to relive the memories
The narrating is so entertaining, Thab. You should do that for more videos. Although I guess there's 388 more of these to look forward to. Yay!
Yeah, I love how he's not over exaggerating like Rerez, more relaxed like SomecallmeJohnny.
Your first game was literally the longest game in NHL history. 😂
10:09 i never realized thab has a baby arm
Hahaha
The thab pop offs are insane lol
I love it when he pops off and gets excited lol
11:02 LMAOOOOOOO the chat: "the ref was dabbing" LMAAAAAOOOOOOOO
Can't wait for Superman, absolutely blessed game. I will never forget how the speedrun lowers the screensize in the options menu down to 10% in order to slightly improve the frame rate and are forced to play the entire game on a microscopic screen. True gamer bliss.

This is definitely my new favourite series. Not even just on the channel, just UA-cam in general. I'm really enjoying it.
Omg 9:41 when the dude backflips and lands completely fine just after getting slammed at high speed by his teammate. So real!
The best part of this is that even though Thab did not enjoy the game, he was hype as hell every time he scored
Hey Thab! The default settings are fine but I 1000% recommend choosing the setting that would make the game the most fun for yourself! You have a lot of these to go through and having to see someone slogging through something they clearly dont enjoy/burnout isnt always the most fun to watch!

Thab just made me excited about a hockey videogame from the 90s.
This game had way better physics and controls than Wayne Gretzky’s version.
I just realized that you're not reading the manual before playing... That would've cleared up a lot of confusion you have at the beginning of the games
He's got the games in a sd card. He should be looking up the PDF's tho u right
This series is super amazing and the commentary is top notch. Please continue

Can't wait for the next one, never played it myself but I know how infamous it is
It's crazy how many different hockey games there were during this era. Today we have one.
Im still confused with the Simulation and stuff, but its amazing how you turned a Boring Game to Something enjoyable to watch! :) And I really Love this series so far!
Best series currently being made on UA-cam
This is such an ambitious series, and I love it. Big shout out for grinding through these sports games. I appreciate how you use your gaming skills and strategies for any type of game.
from all hockey games, I think breakaway 98 still has some of the best player progression or "development" in GM mode.
Yay! My favorite youtube series is back!
Hockey is actually pretty face paced and interesting, I honestly hope there are football (American soccer) games on the N64 that you have to play. lol
This series is great. I’d watch you review paint drying simulator.
I've been watching for ages youtube, but I caught a stream for the first time the other day. Thab and his chat are really great to hang out with, give them a try some time!

Lol. After watching the whole video, I now see I'm not alone.
I love this series more than my coldest water bottle
great video!!!
cant wait for wayne gretzeys 3d hockey 98
This is a great series.
I'm surprised it isn't getting more views.
I hope as time goes on this series gets more traction, because it's great.
Narrator: it did
The guy you scored your first two goals with, Rod Brind'Amour, is now the head coach of my favorite team, coincidentally.
As a Canadian this was a joy to watch haha. I loved this game back in the day :)
Fascinating that you know so few (nothing) about hockey ! In these old games one timers are often a very good way to score. Taking shots with better players also gives you better chance since they have better ratings. Lindros, Leclair and Brind’Amour were the best Flyers players during these years. This is a great way to "beat" a sports game imo. Glad Chandler was able to be rescued!
(also after watching some of it on stream, I can't wait for the superman video lol)
As a Canadian listening to you trying to figure out how hockey works is so hilarious!
Yooooo go Flyers!!! Your narration really makes this. Thanks for doing this challenge Thab!!
Enjoying the series so far
Oh hey, this series is finally showing up in my recommended
Wow, amazing that after 20 years someone finally saved Chandler!
I love hockey, pretty funny to hear someone with little knowledge of the sport trying to learn it.
Thabs presentation is top notch. well done
sorry but i don't think winning 1 game per series and simulating literally everything else counts as beating the game.
I started watching your videos recently (I thik it was in November last year) and I'm really enjoying this series. Every video has been more fun than the last one, keep it up!

I started watching your playlist of beating n64 games... thinking of making a "watching someone beat every n64 game" series now
Absolutely loving this series. So well done!
I agree it's so good
*crowd is completely still*
"Crowd was going absolutely nuts"
Plot twist: Though he returned home in one piece, Chandler bet all his family's savings AGAINST Thab, causing his parents to lose their house and kicking him to live alone on the streets. Wetrix is still my all time favorite!
Talks about Florida - Thab not taking into consideration that ice hockey takes place in a chilled indoor arena 😜 bless you mate.

a "tech" called a "one-timer". Lol. Nice. Have fun.
I had this game....and I ran with my hometown team (Flyers) as well....so you really hit my nostalgia button.
Love to see the utter and repeated confusion on why Florida would have not one, but two hockey teams.
The short answer is: money
10/10 video though, love to see someone go out of their comfort zone but still find moments of enjoyment.
This game was ahead of it's time. Season/career mode you could hire and fire coaches/trainers. Super cool considering the time this game came out
I really love this series, hope you keep it up
Day 150 of appreciating Thab’s content. Playing games is what Thab does.
I need more of this challenge!!! Great vids
Loving this series. Great idea
When you play Madden '99 you can abuse the halfback pass play to TD every time, when I was a kid I scored over 120 points in one game
NJ native checking in! This is also the last era that the Devils were contenders 😆
I enjoy hockey a lot. This game however, if the scoring is truly going to be that hard, then Wayne Gretzky 3D hockey is my preferred.
I remember they had this game at our local Blockbuster on clearance and I bought it for some reason...needless to say I regretted it. 😂
I'm finding this series late, but had to leave this here:
as a Florida man, the answer is nobody. nobody is playing hockey in Florida, it's practically not a thing; I was surprised to find out today that we have 2 teams.
It's crazy how good you were at this so early in the series
Donkey Kong 64 - Rating 7/10, Difficulty 7/10
Diddy Kong Racing - R. 9/10, D. 7/10
Indy Racing 2000 - R. 5/10, D. 3.5/10
BattleTanx - R. 5/10, D. 5/10
Tonic Trouble - R. 2.5/10, D. 4/10
NHL Breakaway 98 - R. 4/10, D. 3/10
i currently watch youtube just to watch this series. I love how each episode is essentially a story
Hockey in Florida is a way to keep cool. A lot better than sitting outside watching boring baseball.
Edmonton and Slade are done here. Slayed by Thab. Loved the video as always.
You're going to wish you were playing a sports game during the next one.
I’m so exited for this series
Hockey has about 5 goals a game on average in today's NHL. 0-0 going to overtime is pretty unusual
I love that you mention florida's hockey team, Arizona has a hockey team as well haha.
Yesss I love this series, your commentary makes me laugh and it so entertaining, I can’t wait to see more of this series! NFL blitz should be fun!
Loved the episode! Keep it up!
It was a great one!
God I miss the Legion of Doom line and the 90's Flyers
glad you're doing this series! thanks beast!
This series going great
ThaBeast-I thought it was funny Florida had a team. It doesn't even get cold enough to have snow. Me- ya, they have 2 teams now. I live in Minnesota, and our original team went to DALLAS. Its all about how many fans you can get to buy your merch
Keep up the good work, Thab, love this series so far!
Thats how I "beat" sports games too to make myself move on afterwords. Some I come back to though like NHL 95 :D
I was wondering when Superman was going to be the next one...can’t wait till the next installment!
3:28 how do I fight? ... Ass kicked haha
Love everything about this! Good stuff beast!
Haha its great you beat the Devils. Just a year later Scott Stevens destroyed Lindros and his career. If this is all I get as a fan of the Legion of Doom - well, at least it's something.
I like your naration. They are great. Keep going man
Literally came to this video just to see the reaction at the end of rolling superman LOL
Man, who can play hockey when Chandler is separated from his parents?!?!?!
I love this series. Keep it going
