  • ULTRASOUND MACHINE | SONOGRAPHER | KNOBOLOGY
    Take a quick glimpse into the world of sonography/ ultrasound, where I show you the buttons and knobs that I use in my job on the daily. Many people think ultrasound technologists have it easy, however, we are the ones who have to manipulate the probe and machine to get a good quality image for the radiologist or doctor. Sonographers know how to handle these machines, all different types, from GE, to Canon, Philips, Acuson, Mindray, and more. We also have to know what button does what, which probe to use in different situations, and which settings to use for different exams. I hope this excites you to look further into ultrasound. I hope you realize we do so much more than just push buttons. And I hope you learn something new today! Don't hesitate to ask any other questions if you need further explanation. There are MANY ultrasound knobology UA-cam videos out there that will go further into detail. I just wanted to show you some buttons that I personally use everyday. Every technologist, workplace, and protocol is different. Listen to whoever is teaching you and build up your ultrasound knowledge and skills! Happy scanning!

    Thank you for this video. I have worked on the Siemens S3000 for the past 9 years and just transfered to our vascular lab where they have the GE. They are two very different machines and it has been a struggle for me. Your knobology explanation has been extremely helpful! I appreciate you taking the time to go over it.

      also -each probe is very different and would need to be tuned and validated.
      but try. why not.

    Omg. The nostalgia for school. We had those machines when i went to school. And when i and all my classmates were scanning in our labs for the first week of school, we were so nervous and confused. I thought i was gonna break something or mess up the settings. I had one classmate who would have a bad habit of taking the probe off the patient to type on the machine and measure. 😂 my teacher stood there and held his hand with the probe on the patient for 2 whole labs so he can never forget to not remove the probe unless he absolutely had to.

      When i was in school, my teachers had us in lab the first day of school. And we had 4 labs a week. And every friday the 2mths before we started clinicals, they tested us on out knowledge of the machine. And the last 2 weeks of those 2 mths, we had to do a competency test for both labs. One competency was on the controls of the machine and physics and the other competency is us actually scanning anatomy (we had to check off on doing a complete abdominal ultrasound). They did this so that we were familiar with the basics of the machine before we started our clinicals. Let me tell you, it was frustrating at first because it was alot to take in. But i was glad, especially when i started my clinicals.

    The Color flow shows you not only direction, but also Velocity speed.
    power Doppler does not show Velocity.
    Some machines have Directional Power Doppler that can show you direction of flow in PD.
    PD is better for slower flow.

    Is it common that the few that are selected often back out or don’t want to do it & it leaves a spot open? I’ve been wanting to do this for almost a year & they picked 8 students & I wasn’t one of them. She did say that if two students didn’t do it I could take their spot. I just don’t know what to feel right now.

    • @lolgeselle
      @lolgeselle  3 роки тому +2

      It is very common. I was on the "alternate list" and I made it on after someone dropped out! So it definitely matters! It's a good sign. I know it's hard right now, but keep your head up. There are always second and third chances. DO things to help your situation, like volunteer, study, focus on the end goal. Stay PAWSitive and even ask the program director or committee what you can do to improve your chances next time. 8 students is not a lot. And we all know it's super competitive. But what matters is when we fall down, we get back up. And never lose sign of your WHY. Don't put yourself down too hard, 8 people is truly truly sooo small! You can do this if you really want it!
