Whenever I see a "You Should..." linux-fanboy I assume that Kent will do a reaction video and have no mercy 🤣
BTW: I need a "Hrrrrrgh...f*ck me" button for real life situations. 🤣

Yeah! I am actually really lucky to been introduced to linux in a good way. I was listening to videos while I was playing minecraft and a linux video auto played. The guy never said "You should..." he gave good arguments as to why linux was a good OS and why people use it. I was more curious as I only thought windows 11 was the only OS. I didn't even knew what an OS was back then. I kept watching videos and got more interested few weeks later I switched to mint linux, did some distro searching then landed on fedora till this day. Why did I switch? The guys never told me I SHOULD switch to linux, they said linux isn't for everyone but here are the pros of it.

I stopped using Linux because every time I try to do something on Linux it becomes a troubleshooting Linux experience rather than whatever I was trying to do

Even on Windows you kan get "Icon Themes", so if you need to have different Icons on your windows you just search for that on the web.

Its all the same copy and paste opinions and reason why one should use Linux. 1 its open source, 2 fck windows, 3 Muh Privacy. lol.
As one who is Windows user that went into Linux to TRY it out it honestly frustrated the hell out of me.
i didn't know where anything was, everytime i needed to do something, I had to enter password to wipe my own ass. I needed PERMISSIONS just to copy any paste to my own hard drives. I need permissions to install a program.
why, i said said fck Linux as my main desktop OS. Ill stick with windows cause even though its a pain sometimes still easier to use.
Of course folks using windows are going to go into Linux with a windows mind set.
I love linux dont get me wrong but its a tinker OS why I have two raspberry pis if i want to use Linux and get bored.

I have 1 MMORPG I like that I keep a Windows machine for, because of its anti-cheat. If steam gets it going on Linux though... Windows can kiss my bean bag.

As a software engineer I use Linux, MacOS, and Windows all the time. Which ever one is better for the job. But I have admit what pays most of my bills is Microsoft technologies. Most of my house is Linux based. I don't game. I'm a developer. His 10 years has nothing on me though, first time I played with linux was when it came as a floppy disk inside of computer magazines back around 1992-93.

If you care about Privacy then you would rip out your internet router and set fire to it and while you are at it, throw in your Driving Licence, Credit Cards, Phone, Shoes, Clothes, Wife etc... Its a nonsensical argument that is banded around about using Linux. I use Linux mint and i game but i am a middle aged NERD. Customisation is a valid argument, but one that will only apply to some. Security, well, Linux needs regular patches and software that is supported on Linux is also patched regularly with security updates. Again, proving that Linux is only as secure as the patches it receives. It is regularly attacked in the corporate world as it is well adopted there.... Why can't we just be honest? Linux has a place in the home desktop and gaming space but users need to be totally clear on those curious about Linux about what it is and what you are getting into!

I play games exclusively on Linux, and this guy is so, so far off the mark. The most effort I put into getting any game to run was for Elden Ring, when I tried a couple of command line arguments and I swapped some files around. After that I just waited for someone else to fix it.
Proton is amazing, but it's not Windows. There's really no point in lying to people about how good it is, and using one's own expectations as a basis for what everyone else "should" like. That's donkey logic, but I won't rag too hard on the guy... some people just take a long time to learn that other people are different and want different things.

You know something sad? Watching Linux fanboys is a form of self harm to me. Tone deaf, don't give a shit about the end user, condescending you name it you got them. I've used Linux for 4 and a half months this guy is delusional

Steam Deck been the bane of my existence, since i use to preach about linux like holier than thou, a few friends of mine picked up the steam deck including myself, so i became their "IT" guy, want to dual boot windows and linux, want to install "archive" games call django.....

    • @herrpez

Sounds like YOU were the bane of your existence. It's fine that you use and enjoy Linux, but I can't think of a single person who would care one iota about that. The operating system is just something that gets inbetween you and your work from the perspective of most people. The kernel? What the heck is that?
You and I are exceptions, in the grand scheme of things.

There are people know how to write basic bash script but no clue how to change the oil in the car.
I used in high school Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and learned Libre Office in general but I keep going back to Microsoft Office. Libre Office is great but I still stick with Microsoft Office because its convenient for me.
People dont care if they have to pay for a product if it benefits them. If you doing any kind of networking at home or at work then you use Linux. If you running a program for a company then you probably using Windows.
I remembered going to my braces doctor and he told me that I need to take a tooth out. I need to make an appointment with a surgent. Both doctors are for teeth in that domain but one is a surgent and one is for braces.
Like Kent stated about software and hardware. I am very good example in software part but have no clue how to put together a motherboard, the SSD and so on basically build your PC.

I'm a 100% with you about Linux. It might be free and open source and you can do a lot of shit on it - but it also has issues like any other OS. I don't want to stuff arse around trying to fix config files after updates. I just want to boot into it, get my stuff done and then watch some mind numbing TV after a long day at work. Its great if you want to stuff around with it and customise the OS. I'll do that when I first install it so it's how I want it. But after that, I pretty much just want to use as is.
And BTW If you fall off your bike and someone wants to play with your testicles that may not be the worst thing in the world LOL

On Linux yeah I got it running but the amount Of Hoop's and Door's you have to be opening and closing is crazy.
If it's a Online game well,Then Get fucked! Major Expansion/Update Oh this program is not updated yet
whelp there goes my time looking up solutions and playing the waiting game for the program to get updates through the pipeline.
Would love to see a topic video from you down the road On the Mob Dik 🥒 riding on STeam The So called Golden child & Epic.
I gotten shit from people and friends for having epic and enjoying mah freebie games.
