This is awesome. Didn't even know there was an 8-Man game. Neo Geo had the best music and sound f/x back then. I wasn't even good at the games, I just played them in the arcade bc they were so cool
“There’s a prehistoric monster that came from Outer Space! Created by the Martians to destroy the human race! The FBI is helpless, they’re up against the wall! What can we do? Who can we call? Call Tobor, the 8th Man, Call Tobor, the 8th Man! Faster than a rocket, faster than a jet! He’s the mighty robot, he’s the one to get! Call Tobor, the 8th Man! Quick, call Tobor, the mightiest robot of them all!”
Just when I thought I've played most of the Neo Geo library...I stumble across this hidden gem! Never saw it in any arcades back in the day but I'm loving the swag this game has going on to where I have to try it 😇
Oh hey I remember this one! It was shown before because another channel did a bit of a documentary on Neo Geo and mentioned this is based on a manga. It reminds me of superhero shows like _Getterman_ and _Kamen Rider_ 😊
Eight Man was considered the earliest cyborg superhero to be made before Kamen Rider. ( KR creator Shotaro Ishinomori created Cyborg 009 the following year )
I remember the first time I learned about this game's existence was when I saw it being played by the actor Bokeem Woodbine in the HBO original movie: Strapped.
I am still convinced the set designers used the need for him to look like a baller as an excuse to buy this expensive but still obscure video game system they could take home later 😂
When I first discovered this game, I thought it was based on the 1993 OVA 8-Man After. But I was wrong; its actually loosely based on the 1960s animated series starring 8-Man. Since this game came out in 1991 (the same year as Street Fighter II and Megaman 4), this game predates 8-Man After by 2 years. But still, it was nice of Neo-Geo to make this game. While it remains the first and only game given to our beloved cyborg superhero, it is a classic nevertheless. And one that has earned a special place in my heart.
Wow! I remember seeing an arcade game of Eight[h] Man in some restaurant when I was a kid. And yet I never knew that it was based on a manga and anime at the time.
I have the original 100 mega shock big ass cartridge! Thing cost me a fortune, not that it is worth anything today. LOL at least my 5 year old son will play some retro games.
Actually, your original Neo Geo with these original games are worth a fortune for collectors. Neo Geo is basically like a rare Tucker Car or Delorean car.
Oddly enough, the first boss, Super Robot 5, is one of 8-Man's rivals from the 60s series. Too bad none of the other baddies from the show made it in here. No Ken, Samantha 7, Jupiter, or even the Armored Man. Oh well. I guess we just have to take what we can get in this case.
Also, I think we can loosely consider player 2 to be "Hazama Itsuru" even though he doesn't exist in this game. In this game, 8-Man is Hachiro Azuma like in the manga and the 60s TV series.
Honestly, I don't get why people like to bash this game. It's not the greatest, but its funny, graphics are vibrant and the soundtrack rocks. I guess they are the same people who loved to laugh at the Gamecube back in the day...
Microsoft + Nintendo + Google + SNK Playmore + Sony + sega / should just joint forces team up and make a super ultimate console together.it would be better for gaming also make sense. 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝
This sounds so much more worse and anemic than the real version. It's like they gutted the middle and bass frequencies and left overly sparkly top frequencies
This game is way too cheap, Cyber's stage is a prime example. You start out with 99 seconds riding a very slow elevator up, by the time you get to fight cyber you only got 18 seconds left, talk about being squeezed for time, and that's not even factoring his huge sprite taking up much of the screen Still, that final boss fight was quite impressive. You somehow managed to anticipate the directions of where the fireball was going to fly and dodged it accordingly. I always had a hard time finding out where his hit box is so I don't touch it and lose health in the process. Well done
Well it's early '90s graphics, obviously can't compare to modern standards, but back then this was a level of quality that no consoles at the time could achieve, it was an eyecatcher in the arcade
I love how 8man just casually goes back into his office suit after the game to clock in from lunch 😂
And the gameplay only took 30 minutes so it's plausible
Watch the anime OVA Shinesman. So cheesey it's practically sour cream,, but utterly hilarious.
He had to be back before 8
I guess he was like "Just another day at the office."
I love this game I used to play it all the time in the arcade when I was a kid this brings back a lot of memories😃
I'm so happy that an 8Man game exists. And it's pretty cool for it's age at that. 😎
Yes indeed.
Not to mention this is the ONLY 8-Man game in existence. So this one is all the more special.

Is 8 Man After associated with the 60s animated series?
@@FiggsNeughton Yes. Well, its kind of a loose adaptation/sequel that tells its own story.
This game looks awesome
i love how the game has an animated style during the intro stuff, but the game has a more live action type style during gameplay
@1:43 that boss reminds me a bit of Blanka from SF2- the crouching stance, long arms and it doesn't hurt that he is green as well.
"A bit of Blanka" and A LOT of Predator
@@MBOmnis Oh yes good point!
Its predator !!
Wow! I remember seeing an arcade game of Eight[h] Man in some restaurant when I was a kid. And yet I never knew that it was based on a manga and anime at the time.
Lol, the subtle predator details. The first boss and the last boss has a predator mouth on the bottom of it's 'brain stem'?
Such great memories...
This is actually one game I never saw
Hey mylesaminute. Me neither man. Lindagamergirl is streaming this on the 23rd and I came to check it out. It's crazy I never heard of this one
I played this game an arcade in a shopping center in Saudi Arabia. This was in 1998. So the game was about seven years old when I first discovered it.
One of the more rare NG games. Never saw it in the arcades and the cart was one of the most expensive in its library.
最近私のチャンネルでこのゲームをクリアしました、とても気に入りました!シンプルだけどとても楽しい提案です!素晴らしいビデオです!
A lot NEOGEO games made it to the PS4 & Xbox One. I am wondering how this got missed. Looks great.
2:22 "Strapped" sent me here
I'm n this to win this!

I remember playing this in the arcade. Good times, but pricey at 2 quarters a credit :P
You could have it today in your home for a mere $650

Esse Jogo é praticamente Um Altered Beast, só que com enredo de Anime Sci-Fi, alem de Mecânicas Adicionais Diferenciadas!
25:24 That's a big skeleton
Music is awesome
Snk's answer to megaman
Actually, 8-Man debuted long before Megaman existed. And this game wasn't the beginning of his legacy.
これはクセがないのに飽きがこないから普通に面白かった
Great gameplay, yet bizarre adaptation of source material
Oddly enough, the first boss, Super Robot 5, is one of 8-Man's rivals from the 60s series. Too bad none of the other baddies from the show made it in here. No Ken, Samantha 7, Jupiter, or even the Armored Man. Oh well. I guess we just have to take what we can get in this case.
maybe this is a stupid question, but do these long plays come from a community of players (likely speed runners?) or is this all one person?
Also, I think we can loosely consider player 2 to be "Hazama Itsuru" even though he doesn't exist in this game. In this game, 8-Man is Hachiro Azuma like in the manga and the 60s TV series.
Man, how have I not seen this before. Hopefully it's on my pandora console.
...is that 9 man?
I must know why this game has not been re-released under the ACA license??????
Never released on Neo Geo CD !
so who is player 2? the Ninth Man??
Honestly, I don't get why people like to bash this game. It's not the greatest, but its funny, graphics are vibrant and the soundtrack rocks. I guess they are the same people who loved to laugh at the Gamecube back in the day...
*Was the cartoon good too?!?*
Yes. Definitely worth checking out.

Frantic game !!

@@jackylee5850 I much prefer this style in all honesty. 87-94 beat em ups are epic. I never got into 3D gaming.

These late arcade games were churned out without proper development. Capcom had better looking games five years earlier.
Siempre odie la música psicodelyca, y por eso me daba risa este juego,, este juego es muy japones
Always wanted to nab this game.
