The Studio 8 does sound better, more balanced and less muffled than the 7, but if you have a 7, you wouldn't be missing much. Just get a JBL Boombox 2, it's just easier, and cheaper. Or buy a Marshall Acton 3, cos that sounds great

I'll compare it to boombox 3 and tribit stormbox blast.

Is there a big difference between sound quality and loudness between the two? And would the Onyx be loud enough for a room which is quite big?
Aura gets pretty loud. If you are looking for room-filling sound and bass deff go with Aura. Onyx is portable and slightly better in highs but for big room for sure Aura (it uses the benefit of main power)
I bet they had to increase the size of the Studio 8 and decrease the size of the tweeters to make room for those indispensable non-functioning self tuning mics. 😂 At least the tuning seems to be an improvement from the 7 but the mics seem like a dishonest marketing move. i dont think the 7 and 8 are backward compatible but dont quote me. i havent tried this yet. 5 is basically the 6 without the waterproofing and i prefer the 6 over the 7 and 8. depends do you want the warmer slightly deeper sound of the 5/6 or brighter for focused sound of the 7/8

Its decent enough but not particularly deep or exciting just very safe. Its also quite heavy for its size. Lots of other options these days from other brands.

The only think I absolutely hate is how JBL does not have backwards compatibility to connect and connect plus, l hate the plan obsolescence. But I have been investigating is there a way to mod the firmware if that does not Work. I am thinking to buy a headphone Jack splitter I saw a 5-1 one on Amazon. And make some long aux cables because I read online there isn't much if any signal degradation at those frequencies using cables the only thing I have to look out for is impedance which can easily be fixed using thicker gauge wires. And lastly use a ldac bluetooth reciever and I got myself a low latency some what wired party boost. Now that would be fine except I bought JBL speakers to use outdoors. Lol
Question: 1. Is it possible to use a splitter so two of these play in stereo instead of using Bluetooth? 2. If the above answer is yes, can one connect them to a TV to be used as external TV speakers?

Am I confused because your self tuning demo seemed to work excellent on studio 8, you should not hear any difference and I could only hear a difference from your studio 7 meaning it is NOT tuning. Also I have no idea how you are trying to record it so my ears could hear what they would hear if I was in the room, that's another story not told. Anyway, thanks for talking about and showing it!
you are indeed confused 😁. its not about hearing a difference or not on a single speaker, its about the differences on the 7 and 8 between rooms being the same. they both react the same to the lively room compared to the dead room. this means there is no different tuning happening on the 8 despite the two totally different rooms acoustically.
i would say different rather than better, the peaks and troughs are just in different places. depending on taste people would prefer one or the other. first again you are true champ! 😁😁
@@danielcabel8203 it's a nice speaker but not perfect like all of them. But the sound is narrow and battery small, lacks upper bass. It will be a nice alternative to the boom.
