$150 is my max. I’d consider something at $200 but no more than that. To me there’s just so much great stuff available for less. If I spent more it would just be to satisfy my ego, not my tastebuds.
I'm into drinking less now (both frequency and amount) but spending more on better quality stuff. Rather sip on a $200 bottle and really enjoy it, then hammer down 3 $65 bottles.
I can tell you exactly how much I paid for my Purple Top.. $599. I paid that because I was too embarrassed to say no at the register after a raffle 😔

in my state of CO these purple tops are sitting on the shelf for weeks after raffles/similar events because that price is so ridiculous.

599 for any bottle of whiskey seems unreasonable to me. I just don't think I've drank a bottle I would pay 599 for honestly.
The one time I won 599 at bingo when I was 18, I was so happy I won that much money at once.
I don't think I could ever see myself spending 599 on one bottle. I could buy so many more bottles!

After the remarks Dave has on the Purple Top I think I need to try before I think about buying. That a bunch of money for a Rio bottle.

MSRP for 15 is 249 in WA....for the one case I've heard of...lol

For me to buy anything over $140 it has to be MSRP There is far to many bourbons in the $50-100 range that are obtainable that are good
I guess it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend. I think if you are going to make an expensive purchase you really need to see if you can obtain a pour first
That's what I did with RR15. But I ain't buying $400+, which is the price in my area.
I would pay 350 for a Russell's 15 year and would be the most I would have paid for a bottle to date. Dreaming but just saying if that good I kinda really want one.

MN has had some Purple Top drops over the last couple of years. I've passed on them multiple times. There is no chance that anybody can convince me that a 9 year old single barrel is worth $325. Purple Tops are the biggest sham out there. I've never tried one and don't need to. It can't be good enough to warrant $325 for a 9 year single barrel.
I drank a 10 yr Purple Top and I would pay MSRP for it in a heartbeat It’s that good for me

My all time most disappointing bottle is Willett purple top. Paid $270, gave several samples away, nobody liked it. Finally found a fan & gifted half the bottle. Big mistake for me!
Traded a JD10, Antique 107 plus $100 for a RR15
I paid $149.99 for a Bookers the reserves. I didn't mind.
Now that I've experienced a fair amount of distilleries, I'd say Wild Turkey is my favorite. I wanna find atleast one of their special products each year.
