Hey mate. I have this unit but have just ordered a Asus mesh system, I was wondering can this tp-link be configured to just be a modem as the Asus mesh system will be the router. I cannot seem to figure out if I can turn off the router in this unit so I can use it just as a modem for the time being untill I get a FTTP upgrade in the coming months. Otherwise I may need to look at buying a cheap modem for the mean time. Thanks Legend.
Lovely review, I just realised that i've got a DSL connection, silly me! I went and Bought a TP-Link AX3000 smh! Now i need to get this one you've reviewed.
I had one of these and it was a lemon in fact alot of people had the same issue as me. Poor wifi strength and drop outs but the main issue which made it unusable was that it soft reset itself usually 5-10 times per day causing the line to drop out. I've since switched to an asus Dsl-ac68u and problem solved its fantastic.
What happened to the tp-link VR2800?, i went to homepage and it said "end of life" and saw at the top of the list VR2100 or Archer VR600. Is TP-Link VR2100 the best modem available at TP-Link?
I’m with Optus and their NBN modem routers are crap. We’ve had them replaced so many times with different issues. Is there a modem router that you can suggest to buy that has also a phone line built into it for our landline so we can replace the crappie Optus ones? It’s NBN and not ADSL.
I just went out and bought a net gear nighthawk RAX43 since my router that was provided by the isp died. I was able to set it up and connect to it but it won’t connect to the internet, I’m on FTTC btw. I feel like I’ve tried everything to trouble shoot it and I’m just starting to feel like it’s not compatible. Rip 350$
Great FTTN speeds there, Pat! How far are you from your Node? (Oops, should’ve finished the vid - was interrupted! 600m 👍🏼). Also, are there modems that are specifically aimed for FTTP or are they all just multi-service compatible?
FTTP connections get the NBN NTD box fitted to the property which has separate active data and voice ports. You can plug pretty much any router into the Ethernet data port and it should get a WAN IP from the RSP and start working though you may need some further setup if the RSP uses PPPoE.
@@futurecactus Yeah aware of the NTD. Just wondering if there were modems/routers used to connect to the NTD that were FTTP-focussed. But you confirmed what I was thinking - any router will do. Thanks.
I'm just wondering if the vr2100v VoIP version is the same as this model, because I have a landline and the only thing stopping me from buying this one is the lack of VoIP
Hey sir, nice vid. How is it with the VPN? Can I use OpenVPN to connect each client to different VPN? Like multiple profiles? If you said that in the video, I am sorry for asking again, but I have not noticed. :-)
Hello pat , I am currently on an nbn connection of 100 mbps , but I have a 2 story house and my wifi router is down stairs and my gaming is up stairs , will this router boost wifi signal so I can get close to 80 to 85 close to my nbn connection of 100 mbps .
+1 Would like to replace my crappy FTTC modem as it blows up every time we have a decent thunderstorm. Importantly would like the semi bridge mode if that's what it's called so I can still connect to the modem when required. TP-Link devices have been getting really good lately. My TL-MR6400 v3 4G router is excellent.

Bought on your recommendation, this fixed my packet loss and multiple device issues I was having.. very satisfied.

8:20 Perfect! Been waiting for this feature for ages. Along with the ability to switch off the WIFI via a button on the router.
This was a great video, answered all the questions i had about this unit. Keep it up!

thanks for your amazing review < may i ask you What's the difference between TP-Link Archer VR600 vs VR2100? thanks a lot
Excellent review, 11 out of 10 gigatron bits per second.

Interesting, glad you got it sorted.
Checking my understanding FTTC connection can this replace both modem (box) and router? Or just the router side?
Which better vr600 Ac1600 Or Ac 2100 and why ?

Maybe it had issues

Hows fast is the dsl speed of the vr2100 vs a broadcom chipset modem on your current line
what is the difference between VR2100 to VR600?
i have the same question
do you get answer?
@@publicemail5664 No
This is VR600 AC2100
Fixing the physical connection and not retesting with the old router completely invalidates most of this.
can you demonstrate the dhcp relay feature?
thanks for this. Looking to get one of these to use with Sky. Can you tell me if its possible to switch off the 5GHz and only keep on the 2.4?? TIA
Hey, yes you can.

Are you sure that one is compatible with fttc? It’s still a dsl connector

I’m 600 meters, so this is excellent. Most router combos can service both as you get a ntd box in the house which does modem part
Thanks k locker you beat me to it :)

Yes same, just without voip.
@@TechManPat Thank you sir for the reply, love your channel always great and informative videos!
Can this modem connect to nbn fixed wirless?
would this be good for fttc
I have the VR400 and the wifi doesn't connect to certain places in my house. I live in a townhouse and have opticomm, is this suitable for me?
VR400 is compatible with OneMesh system, you could buy a TP-Link OneMesh range extender to create a whole home wifi
Is it a modem & a router combo ?
sure is
Hi Mate , will your home phone will work with this modem?? Please reply
No
Archer VR600 V3 or Asus RT-AX55 802.11ax Dual Band Wireless WiFi 6, what is better
Asus 100%
Thanks,

Yes you can it supports open vpn profiles
@@TechManPat unfortunately no, it offers me only openvpn server. AX73 offer client and put which client can use added vpn profile

I would say better of getting a mesh set up to help.
Thx! Can this modem work in bridge mode?
Good to see I'm not the only wanting a bridge mode device, my telstra router has bridge mode. Would rather a dumb modem.
