I would be interested if it was a x4 cylinder and not a twin. The Hornet was always a simple bike based on reliability but always giving a thrill to the rider with its good power spectrum and screaming stright 4 engine. A twin could never replace this.

Just saw mention of a new Hornet on another article and finally found a video that's in English.
Currently got a 2009 Hornet which replaced my 2005 that I had previously, looked at the CB650 as a replacement but dropped that when it appeared to have so much less power than the Hornet. Definitely interested in the new one, but doubt it'll make financial sense to chop mine in as it all works fine and I'd probably get little for it other than a large loan to pay the difference on a new bike. There reaches a point where you might as well just run the bike (or car) until it dies or has too many issues to fix.

The original Hornet is what got me interested in motorcycles in the first place. It was right at the end of its production and the more research I did the more I gravitated towards the NC750X, which I still own and love. I read somewhere yesterday that the probable reason everything is a p-twin these days is that those engines are easier to tweak to achieve emission standards than other engine types. Can't really comment further as I'm not a mechanic.

    Great upload 👍
Where do we think the hornet pricing will be in relation to their existing line up? It's got to be a higher spec than the cb650r

I’m almost certain it’ll be cheaper than the CB650. Parallel twin compared to an inline four, right? Same way the CBR500 is significantly cheaper than the CBR650

I think the in-line 4 is dead at Honda. The Hornet will replace the two CB650 bikes. Everyone is moving to modular. One frame, one engine and swap out body panels, suspension and headlamp. I think this new Hornet will be the 1st of several bikes. Honda is behind the other 3 big Japanese manufacturers when it comes to this segment. If Honda is serious we should see 3 or 4 bikes off this new configuration. I would love a new CB650R but I can’t see a Honda spending anymore $$$ on the in-line four engine. Goodbye in-line 4 engine. I will miss you. The only bike I would be interested in off this platform is a retro with round headlamp and some body panels.

It makes market sense to do it 2 cylinders. Cheaper to produce and gives Honda a possibility to compete with Yamaha. Cb650r is a better bike than the competition but the price is not competitive vs the mt07. At the end of the day it is a sensible business decision...

Great video!!! Thank you. I am so disappointed that new hornet is gonna be a twin...Hornet has to be a 4 cylinder bike. I have owned two hornets, one 2004 another 2006. There won't be bike like these any more. So sad.

I owned a 2004 Hornet 600 as well. Probably the bike I regret selling the most. Incredible bike for the price!

I hoping that the Transalp would use the NC780X motor. Reason: gas under the seat and storage in the tank like the NC750X, but not to be.

My ‘04 hornet 600 got t-boned this past summer. I think the cb650r is a better replacement then something that’s just called a hornet.

Aww man! Sorry to hear that about your Hornet! Hope you’re doing alright.
And I agree completely. I remember talking to my buddy about the CB650 when it was announced and commenting on how it felt like a new Hornet.

Hornet 2 cilíndros é uma piada, se for para a Honda trazer a Hornet de volta, que seja 4 cilíndros.

Yeah, with that much of a price gap, the Cb650 is a pretty easy decision. What country is that?

Honda does boring Things, just like any other Big Player Manufacturers.
Only intresting Stuff is the Goldwings Motor and the Crossover/Concept Chassis.
if you want intresting Stuff, look for more polarising and exotic Manufacturers. *italian hand gesture*

    • @Mason_van_Bike

While they can make boring products, I’d argue Honda is probably the most interesting of the Japanese Big 4.
They’re obviously Halo products, but still like the RC213V-S and the NR750 and incredible pieces of innovation.
Even things like their DCT, while not interesting to me personally, are more innovative than what a lot of other companies are doing.
