That Capt Jim is EXACTLY what you’d expect on Nantucket or even Montauk.
Having grown up on Long Island, Montauk was always my favorite go-to beach town.
Ironically, I’ve never been to Nantucket, but I’m jonesin to go now!

We loved Nantucket and Montauk. I think there’s a distinct culture and community in both. I hope you check out Nantucket sometime soon :)

Great video. I'm a Nantucketer and there are over 30,000 people who live here year-round, and double that in the summer. The census does not reflect the real numbers... the water and sewer usage does. Many people move here from other places and they don't fill out the census. You likely didn't tour the whole island, but there are several public and private schools and grocery stores, tons of specialty stores, a hospital, fire department, police department, three ferry companies and the busiest airport in New England in the summer.

We have learned there is much more open than we realized during the winter/off season. We got there in May where many of the stores and restaurants were still closed. Nantucket is beautiful! I hope we make it back sometime soon.

Always. Only because I do my pre-vacay shopping at June Ruby before each trip 😉

Bruh there is so many shops open in the winter nobody finds it hard to find our basics

We appreciate hearing that! It’s definitely not the impression and info we got so we appreciate the correction. It also added up to us when we were there because there were several restaurants and shops that weren’t open or fully open when we were there in May.

@@AlwaysBeChanging I was there in the winter 3 years ago... and a lot of stuff was closed 3 years ago before the world was a mess with coronavirus! , not sure if that kid is a local or not? But you are right a lot of people go to the mainland for their basic supplies. I talked to a lot of locals

Yes, the basics you can get from the local grocery stores but the tourist shops and a lot of the restaurants are closed down during the winter. The locals love the quietness and quiet a few actually live full time. I lived there year around for almost ten years and looked forward to the off season to enjoy the more laid back and slow pace of the island.
