    As a teen, my parents and I would camp at the Vineyard, for two weeks.. This was back in the 1960's.. Haven't been back since.. It might have lost its charm.. Life was simple back then... Go and enjoy..!

    MA native here. Moved out of Boston about 8 years ago and have only returned in the summer to work on the vineyard.

    Why is it called a “vineyard” if there is NO VINEYARD? …..and who is Martha?

      The person who first discovered the island named it after his mother. Correct me if im wrong

      The island was used for growing grapes and was named after the founder’s daughter, Martha

    It’s funny to realize it’s just a part of MA and nothing super special. I remember hearing about it on the show Gilmore Girls and they talked about it like it’s a ritzy, exclusive place for high class, but then again I’m sure the fictional characters knew where to go for that. Lol

    I was not impressed with the carousel.. Our carousels on the west coast are much more ornate and beautiful, like the European ones..
