I have a 4 month old foster son who loves looking at all my plants. Lately, he's started paying more attention to what I am watching and he just LOVES you. Especially when your face is on the screen - he squeals in excitement. He laughs at 90% of what you say, lol. Every time we sit down to watch a new video of yours, I say "There's Fern!" and he gets so excited. If I have his back turned and he hears your voice, he just whips his head back and forth so fast trying to find you. I would say maybe you remind him of someone, but he's been with us since he was born, so I just think he's already found his favorite UA-camr.

I think your Thai constellation would look great being lifted on little end table which allow the aerial roots to dangle a bit and also leave some room under and in front of that table for some plants. You can put one on the floor and one on a wooden box to create some layering. If the table (and maybe box) match the colour of wooden shelf thing on the other side it would give some extra symmetry / asymmetry vibes.
If you get a simple wooden box and turn it upside down, you could even hide the cables under it.

    • @bryannamaria_

Came to the comments to say pretty much the same! Get a stool/small table to put the Thai on, and it gives you space to layer another plant or two under. 🫶🏽🌿

I think you should put the milsbo where the thai is and put the thai up on some sort of console, stool, side table, etc. You'd have to jus mess with configuration until you get it to what you like but def lift the thai up off the ground no matter what imo lol

You could move the wooden stand elsewhere. If you can, purchase a second black milsbo and place them side by side. Put the Thai on top of it on the corner right. That may work well. You would have to spend some $ though. If not, then a black plant stand to lift the Thai. I'm sure whatever you pick will look great! ❤

I appreciate that you’re still able to show your plants even when they’re covered with diatomaceous earth. That just means you’re being a good plant parent and trying different methods to keep up with their needs. Rather than it always needing to be an aesthetic thing. A few of my plants still have sulfur on them from treating flat mites and I feel embarrassed? Yeah I don’t think that’s necessary. lol

My 2c re the space under your TV - we read left to right, so having 'weight' on the left will balance the space out a bit more and make the flow of everything look a bit nicer as your eyes naturally scan across the area. I would recommend putting something taller (be it plants or a tall shelf) on the left of the milsbo/tv and cleaning up the space thats on the right of it (maybe removing that wooden bookshelf entirely and having a less 'heavy' structure there). Adding a cute little tufted rug on the left would also look super cute!

Just thinking out loud: could the browning on your monstera aurea come from drafts? I noticed it’s next to your balcony door and the air condition is above it… I once heard that when you can sit comfortably in the plants spot, the plant is fine with it as well. I check for drafts with wet hands as well… I don’t have any experience with this plant so no idea if draft is a thing 🤷‍♀️

My silver band maranta struggled a lot before I changed it to Mollys Aroid Mix with a little RePot Me Hoya mix swirled in - and then put it in a self-watering pot. I also don’t use tap water (which in my case is well water with a softening system) and instead use the spring water from my large five gallon water dispenser in my kitchen. I use this setup for all my maranta, ctenanthe and calathea and it has been a game changer. Everyone is doing great and now don’t even have crispy tips! 😊

Maybe just lift the Tai constellation up with a litttle cute stand? this would also give the aerial roots more room to hang and you could layer a smaller plant in front of the stand if you want.
Went though some options in my head and I think I would move the greenhouse cabinet to the far left and get a flat cabinet, like a ikea kallax 4x1 placed on its side. you would still have quite some hight for plants between cabinet and TV. The wooden shelf can go somewhere else where it maybe fits in better as it does look a little miss-matched here.
Not sure if there is then still space for the tai con hough as it is a bit taller, maybe on the far right so it´s not in front of the TV?

For the space under the TV, you could try moving that other small brown cabinet elsewhere and move another large plant like the thai con to that space to make it look more balanced. First I love your content, you are amazing! Next I'm glad you asked for suggestions on your tv area. In the last year I made a big move and the only furniture I've bought was ikea shelves and cabinets lol, I moved into a small condo and had the same dilemma with my tv area. I utilized my plant shelves as a tv unit, went with the black vittsjo tv bench underneath (because we like our tv mounted low on the wall for optimal video gaming but your milsbo wide would work too) and I put 2 of the vittsjo tall slim (however you call them) shelves on either side of the tv. Its given me so much space to keep plants and I live that they are front and center. I keep all my favorites on that set up and I find myself staring at them instead of watching movie lol. I mixed in some books behind the plants and it feels really cozy. If you think this is a good idea, I'd love to see you try this set up and see what youd come up with with the plants in your collection.

The wood shelf i feel needs to be where the Thai is and maybe even against the fridge wall. Then your Thai can go with the other free plants on the other side. Milsbo looks great under TV though! And I love your quirky paintings so much! The stuff on top of that shelf would be nice in those blank spots over on the left side. That's my two cents.

Hello Fern, love your videos, you'll probably never see this but you asked for suggestions on what to do with that area around 2:03. if it were me, and if it's do-able for you, I would move the cabinet under the TV just slightly to the left to center it, then I'd keep the Thai constellation there but try putting it on a relatively low, squarish stand or shelf (if you have one) to elevate it 6 to 12 inches, there's some flexibility there. On the other side replace that other shelf with something similar but about 2/3 the height and keep the existing plants on top. Then someday maybe put a small, like 6 inch by 6 inch framed picture above that shelf to complement and offset the picture on the left. I realize you probably don't have the size shelves I'm talking about just laying around, but the idea is to get the monstera off the ground and give it more of an intentional presence while lowering the stuff on the right so it's not competing so much with the cabinet. It will also a nice horizontal line of plants your eyes can sweep across, from the monstera to the ones in the cabinet to the ones on the right hand shelf, in one smooth glide. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for doing what you do!

I've put my Maranta Silver Band in pon in a self watering pot (from Amazon), around a month ago. It's already doing better.

Omg “me and my pesties” 😂😂😂 I am weak!
Maybe you could swap the long table that was on the side of the vitsjo and the wide, under the tv. Then you could put plants under and on top of the table? Idk if it could work, just a thought.

The brown shelf could be painted black like the cabinet and raise the Thai off the floor. Love your videos.

I just lost my Alocasia Jacklynn that had 4 massive leaves to spider mites 😭. Luckily the root system looks really good, just have to figure out where to chop because it looks like a new leaf was wanting to come in. It has some corms, but I have no luck with growing corms. I always rot them.

Do you ever feel like Thai Constellations pretty much don’t require water? Mine go weeks without. I forget about them, until they look ever so slightly droopy. Easiest houseplant ever.

the twin growth points happens to my brasil and silver stripe often and one vine usually reverts and the other tends to go all yellow even on my silver stripe! that was definitely the most bizarre part was getting a neon vine from my silver stripe lol

Your plants look great. My Hoya Krimson Queen keeps getting smaller and smaller, yours looks so full. I’m trying to figure out what to fix.

Well I need to figure out my thai constellation..Got it for xmas and it grew 1 leaf and since then its just taking up space. Not doing much of anything. So I bought a new baby yesterday..A anthurium crystal Hope.. Hopefully the Thai will see she’s not #1 and do something 😂😉. Thanks for the update Fern. Kisses to Olive and Cadence. Have a great day!

What if….you moved the long white console table / shelf that’s currently behind the couch to under the TV and put the Milsbo behind the couch or somewhere else?

The thai would look great if you raised it off the floor a little. Put it on a pedestal... she deserves it! I believe the tiny hole in the thai is a fenestration (French for window). The outer "slits" are not called fenestrations.

Sorry you had to re-home your Tortum. 😕. It had been with you for so long. But I’m sure it will be happy in its new home. 💚✨
