    Hey Ty, my buddies & I are from New Orleans & went to Fort Pickens this past Sat & launched from the same exact spot that you did. Friday was super windy and it calmed down some on Sat, but was still fairly windy. We didn't see too many spanishes around like you & Theresa did.. makes me wonder if that front pushed them out the area. I did catch one while trolling a cigar minnow on a Pirate Plug rig with wire leader and two treble hooks. One's better than none! :)

    Loving your videos, Ty. I just moved down here to Pcola and am trying to get a foothold on the fishing down here (and how to do it right). Two questions: 1) have you ever had any luck with redfish/trout in bayou grande? 2) have you tried your hand fishing BTB around the USS Massachusetts south of Fort Pickens?

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  7 років тому

      1. yes sir. i have a episode coming up soon called STUCK BY A GAFFTOP CATFISH. that was filmed in bayou grande. tons of luck there.... never tried the USS m. ? how far out? don't know about it?

    • @michaelwalker7102
      @michaelwalker7102 7 років тому

      Cant wait for that vid to come out, man. Im within walking distance of the bayou and am hoping for some "after-work rod bending". As for the USS M, its about 1.5 miles into the gulf due south of the inlet.Heard it may hold some good fish, so im gonna try it out soon, weather permitting.

    Forgive my ignorance, I live nowhwere near salt water...for toothy fish (Pike, musky) I use steel leaders, still fish clear water for them, but I never see salt water anglers using them, just flourocarbon...does a steel leader really kill the bite that much?

    • @slikrik6098
      @slikrik6098 7 років тому +1

      gestalt3 I fish Galveston Tx. I use a steel leader for Spanish ,never had a problem hookN up. but if I use live bait ,I free line,not weight.

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  7 років тому +2

      in dirty water steel is fine. in gin clear water, u go steel u loose the exotic bite. sails, cobia, tuna etc... in gin clear water i get 3xs the hits with floro and no steel... its worth a few cut offs to me.

    • @slikrik6098
      @slikrik6098 7 років тому

      gestalt3 are you calling my water dirtyTy? lol , you're right though .

    • @gestalt3
      @gestalt3 7 років тому

      Thanks for the replies Ty and SlikRik, I guess after getting bit off by pike (line just goes slack, don't even get to feel the fish) I am just supprissed that a 40lb Floro leader could not get cut... Obviously apples and oranges (100's of teeth to dozens) but EVERYTHING in salt has teeth! Just makes me nervous! :)

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  7 років тому

      yes.... what nigel said.... ie... fishing off the beach past the waves breaking... offshore kayak fishing.

    • @kevinmeldrum1
      @kevinmeldrum1 7 років тому +2

      30milesOut your guys definition of offshore is what us socal guys call inshore. Here in San Diego average trip 3 miles out.

    • @jeremypierce1607
      @jeremypierce1607 7 років тому +3

      Kevin Meldrum but where Ty and them are they routinely catch sailfish and big kings and Mahi 100 to 200 yards off the shore, not to mention cobia and tarpon. Unless you are chasing deep bottom dwellers or huge palegics you don't have to go far off the beach at all in the panhandle to catch a ton of fish or some really big fish.

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  7 років тому +2

      at the pacific, y'all have a hard shore line for the most part no marshes and bayous and bays... when using the term INSHORE HERE, means back bays, sound, bayous and marsh etc. little different. technically, we have INSHORE, i.e. bays etc. NEAR SHORE, up to (9mi out) and OFFSHORE 9mi plus out in the gulf.

    • @theSoutherlands
      @theSoutherlands 7 років тому +2

      lighter. the 2012 model is lighter then the newer models. the upgraded seat weighs more, etc. i don't find that it's any less comfortable to be in the old outback. it's just what i am attached to. i have it rigged exactly the way i like it. :)
