IM GOING TO FORT PICKENS IN JULY, GONNA BE CAMPING ON THE BEACH FOR 7 DAYS. I LIKE WATCHING YALL TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I CAN EAT AND ALL THAT AND YALL LOOK LIKE YALL HAVING FUN. CANT WAIT TO GET OUT IN MY KAYAK.
Awesome video Ty and Theresa !!! The ocean looked calm and very clear you could see the Spanish everywhere I'm glad y'all were able to get out before all those storms came rolling through I looked on the weather map and seen a lot of heavy rain coming into Pensacola, also I would like to know when y'all will be getting in the 2 xxl long sleeve shirts I really like the lime colored every time I look on the website there's no 2 xxl available. Thanks for all you do Ty and Theresa for the sport of kayaking offshore and in the Bay Area flats !!!! Fish On !!!!
Got to meet you on the beach that day coming in. great video love watching yall fish. would like to get into Kayak fishing just not sure where or how. Hope to see you again soon out there. LOL that is me in the red shirt at the end of the video.
get a used yak on craigslist for a few hundred bucks... hit the 2' deep grass flats a get a feel.... naval oaks. shoreline park. any flat really... get u rolling.
That is truly incredible to me, to think of being able to see the Spaniards running under the kayak. I have GOT to get down there sometime and hook up with y'all.
Hey Ty, my buddies & I are from New Orleans & went to Fort Pickens this past Sat & launched from the same exact spot that you did. Friday was super windy and it calmed down some on Sat, but was still fairly windy. We didn't see too many spanishes around like you & Theresa did.. makes me wonder if that front pushed them out the area. I did catch one while trolling a cigar minnow on a Pirate Plug rig with wire leader and two treble hooks. One's better than none! :)
Loving your videos, Ty. I just moved down here to Pcola and am trying to get a foothold on the fishing down here (and how to do it right). Two questions: 1) have you ever had any luck with redfish/trout in bayou grande? 2) have you tried your hand fishing BTB around the USS Massachusetts south of Fort Pickens?
1. yes sir. i have a episode coming up soon called STUCK BY A GAFFTOP CATFISH. that was filmed in bayou grande. tons of luck there.... never tried the USS m. ? how far out? don't know about it?
Cant wait for that vid to come out, man. Im within walking distance of the bayou and am hoping for some "after-work rod bending". As for the USS M, its about 1.5 miles into the gulf due south of the inlet.Heard it may hold some good fish, so im gonna try it out soon, weather permitting.
Dont need a campout, just stay fishing! Blues flying in the background while hooked up, nice brother! Cobia boats out there will just about run over you
Forgive my ignorance, I live nowhwere near salt water...for toothy fish (Pike, musky) I use steel leaders, still fish clear water for them, but I never see salt water anglers using them, just flourocarbon...does a steel leader really kill the bite that much?
in dirty water steel is fine. in gin clear water, u go steel u loose the exotic bite. sails, cobia, tuna etc... in gin clear water i get 3xs the hits with floro and no steel... its worth a few cut offs to me.
Thanks for the replies Ty and SlikRik, I guess after getting bit off by pike (line just goes slack, don't even get to feel the fish) I am just supprissed that a 40lb Floro leader could not get cut... Obviously apples and oranges (100's of teeth to dozens) but EVERYTHING in salt has teeth! Just makes me nervous! :)
My family and I live in South Carolina are headed down mid June and staying in Panama City , we have 4 Hobie PA 14's where is a good place to launch. Would prefer a landing but could do a pull of and drag launch if we had to.
Kevin Meldrum but where Ty and them are they routinely catch sailfish and big kings and Mahi 100 to 200 yards off the shore, not to mention cobia and tarpon. Unless you are chasing deep bottom dwellers or huge palegics you don't have to go far off the beach at all in the panhandle to catch a ton of fish or some really big fish.
at the pacific, y'all have a hard shore line for the most part no marshes and bayous and bays... when using the term INSHORE HERE, means back bays, sound, bayous and marsh etc. little different. technically, we have INSHORE, i.e. bays etc. NEAR SHORE, up to (9mi out) and OFFSHORE 9mi plus out in the gulf.
lighter. the 2012 model is lighter then the newer models. the upgraded seat weighs more, etc. i don't find that it's any less comfortable to be in the old outback. it's just what i am attached to. i have it rigged exactly the way i like it. :)
That feeling when you look down and see a gaggle of fish under your boat... SWEET!!!
Never gets old looking out across Pensacola Beach.
What a great calm and clear water to dive your kayak in!
Can't wait ti'll tomorrow for the after the episode !!!! Thank You !!!!
Great job! Nice to see the Spanish in numbers again as we roll into the warmer months.
TACOS! Awesome. You guys hardly even got out in the water and it was loaded with Mac's. Great video, keep 'em coming.
that was non stop action, big thumbs up
I can't get over how calm the water is! Makes me want to get my WS Commander out on the open water.
it is calm a good bit here. see kids swimming, paddle boarders. there are some snorkel reefs 50 yards out people swim to .. pretty calm here.
yay!!!! finally the weather settled!!!!! lets see it!
What an epic day!! I love it when it's a bite on every cast!! Great episode!!! Thanks for posting the gear too!! Tight lines and God bless you guys!!

Great video! Outside my window it is raining and 40 degrees! Sucks!
Les see- you start by talking about being in shape- then gripe about throwing the Penn combo all day. It don't add up ! 😂

OK thank you for the tip. Do you have to register a kayak like a regular boat?
That is truly incredible to me, to think of being able to see the Spaniards running under the kayak. I have GOT to get down there sometime and hook up with y'all.

You've been married long enough to know that you may be in your late 40's, but Theresa is 29 and always will be!
Nice Spanish Action. Ole!!
Cool video!
I thought y'all were in your 30's at the most man y'all did good

campout is a killer way to stay on the water and fish more! lol
is it BTB if there's no breakers😂😂Man you are making it hard to stay in Houston and not just pack up and move to Florida
lol... yea.... BEYOND THE SLICK... BTS
Lots of fish catching going on. Love smoking those mackerels.
if you have to choose between the pro angler and the outback, wich one would you choose, I'm thinking of buy one
outback for me because i fish alot... the pa is hard to move thru the sand and load and unload day after day for me. just depends on the person tho.
So if we are out of shape, get there early, and bring a fold up chair. Use the wheels.
lol
What up Ty!! DpHaMs here mAnG! BTB bAbY!!! Hey when I come down there to P-Cola Ill holla at ya, some time in June! :)
hey dan!!!! holler
Forgive my ignorance, I live nowhwere near salt water...for toothy fish (Pike, musky) I use steel leaders, still fish clear water for them, but I never see salt water anglers using them, just flourocarbon...does a steel leader really kill the bite that much?
gestalt3 I fish Galveston Tx. I use a steel leader for Spanish ,never had a problem hookN up. but if I use live bait ,I free line, not weight.
in dirty water steel is fine. in gin clear water, u go steel u loose the exotic bite. sails, cobia, tuna etc... in gin clear water i get 3xs the hits with floro and no steel... its worth a few cut offs to me.
gestalt3 are you calling my water dirtyTy? lol , you're right though .

Ty. Is there anywhere locally in Pensacola to get t-shirts at?
30milesout.com is best. helps us keep inventory straight...
My family and I live in South Carolina are headed down mid June and staying in Panama City , we have 4 Hobie PA 14's where is a good place to launch. Would prefer a landing but could do a pull of and drag launch if we had to.
not sure about that area... anyone???
Look at that nice pink Fishbag...
Ty, those aren't your old school soccer socks...what are you wearing on your legs? Looks like SPF performance gear material...
yes sir! i teamed up with ANETIK gear (make our hoodies) and we designed a yak'n sock . called the SHADE SOCK. check them out at anetik.com
my bad... they will be released next week! WHAT!
30milesOut didn't mention anything about that at checkout. Got a pair on the way...I hope! Thanks for the hookup! Post up a cobia vid....
do you ever do catch and cook? Nice vid.
we do a in the kitchen segment every now and then... may do one in near future
How do you guys tell the difference between a small ( not legal ) king and a spanish?
It can be tough but the lateral lines are different
Hell yes
THAT JUST HAPPENED !!
Can I get more info on the epoxy jigs?
after the episode today we cover them.
Um noob question. What is btb?
BEYOND THE BREAKERS.
yes.... what nigel said.... ie... fishing off the beach past the waves breaking... offshore kayak fishing.
30milesOut your guys definition of offshore is what us socal guys call inshore. Here in San Diego average trip 3 miles out.
Kevin Meldrum but where Ty and them are they routinely catch sailfish and big kings and Mahi 100 to 200 yards off the shore, not to mention cobia and tarpon. what kind of sunglasses were those?
some cheap berkley's
I've still yet to catch a Spanish.
If u are where I think u are, its 218 ft to the water. :)
no sir... we were staying in 15' of water right off the beach. the spanish were hanging in close.
LOL. No, I mean from the parking lot to the water is 218 ft....of pulling the yak thru the sand :)
wait a minute.
you broke your btb rule.
only 2 rods.
why you got 3?
been feeling bit crazy lately... got some cool new yakattck zookatubes that make having 2 on my left rear real easy. still like minimal tho...
That boat sure was respectful........Cobia could of been under the yak!...........
right!
Bonita sushi? No way! Those things are a bloody mess.
not bonita. little tunny (false albacore). look similar.
So why didn't they move back to Texas
We needed to be closer to family
She's still using the ob
she's a hardcore OB customer.
I love my outback for a lot of reasons.
Theresa Southerland same here Ms Theresa. I don't think i'll ever look for another kayak but you never know. Lol
tougher05 why the old out back not the new one with the CT seat
lighter. the 2012 model is lighter then the newer models. the upgraded seat weighs more, etc. i don't find that it's any less comfortable to be in the old outback. it's just what i am attached to. i have it rigged exactly the way i like it. :)
