what a coincidence, i just started playing this game yesterday lol (us version though, obtained via extremely legal methods). With assist turned off, the drifting is surprisingly realistic yet easy to learn.
@Kaido Samurai think it's a case of "too early for the world" i guess... If TXR can be considered an underrated hidden gem nowadays, then there's no reason for this game to be not considered as such too (funnily enough TXR's theme of "vmax street racing" is much less popular than drifting in current media, go figure)

P.S. Oh Kaido Samurai since we are talking about D1GP game did you know that us version has drift challenges too with pontiac gto.

@@KaidoSamuraiWhat you played is 2004 version. Taniguchi drove S15, meanwhile 2005 he drove Altezza. US version is the Japanese 2005 version. Japan had 2 version as well.
If you're really into D1 you might enjoy it. I didn't do the D1 Championship mode as its locked behind a tutorial completion requirement so I can't speak on that front. From what I can see its a really short game. Tuning seems simplified and has a decent roster of cars. I think the NA version of this game has more cars IIRC, some one could correct me on that though.
@@Sapizanza Very much so, the games differ slightly from each other. Think it might be due to the release dates not being the same for both regions. This one here came a year before the NA/English version.

Yeah, I was surprised at the ratings it got when it was released. Seems ign and gamespot people hated the game a lot, too hard i guess for them.

IGN rated this game is worst? Is it really hard to master than Fast and Furious PS2?
The drifting is ok the rating system can be a little wonky sometimes when drifting. It's a lot easier than fast and the furious though
