  • Reviewing the LG Tone Free UFP9 true wireless earbuds, the best ANC Bluetooth buds from the Korean giant with upgraded battery life and impressive design. These are among my favourite TWE's of 2021, although at £199 they LG Tone Free UFP9 are also one of the more expensive options. But with active noise cancelling, solid features and compact build, these buds offer respectable value for money.
Thanks to LG for sending in the review sample and check out my coverage of other big true wireless earbuds for other noise cancellation TWE's, from Samsung, Beats and other big rivals.
I've been testing these buds for a couple of weeks now and while they're quite pricey, they do offer competitive features. The battery life stretches from 7 to 10 hours either without or with noise cancelling active. You've got full customisation via the LG Tone Free app, while the ANC works well when out and about.

I’m about to purchase my first pair of wireless earbuds and these LGs are currently my first choice! I’m used to apple’s ear-shaped wired earphones and have always been intimidated by silicone tips, so I love the shape of the UFP9s. They seem quite snug and comfortable which is great. I love the whisper feature too.

Amazing review, my first time buying earphones this expensive (they're on sale) I hope they're going to be a big upgrade from my Sony xb700's as I needed features like the transparency mode for convenience in public places like college. Never had or tried ANC earphones so this will be my first time and I'm excited for the Aux plug in to make anything I use connect to my earphones.

There is a huge disadvantage IMO.
There is no way to connect multiple devices and buds remember the last connected device. I'm switching between phone and PC all the time an it is incredibly annoying to re-connect manually the device I want to connect if it isn't the last one used .... at least it should be possible to toggle between devices from buds, so I don't have to connect from the device, but it desn't.

Multipoint is what you're looking for, most if not all the jabra ear buds have this feature.
I don't know why more companies don't offer simultaneous connection to 2 devices. With all the people working from home there's a huge market to off earbids that can connect to your phone and pc at the same time. Mine came in the mail, 2 day shipping from Walmart. Gotta admit the sound quality is a step up from my Galaxy Buds + (2020)
But they battery claims feel heavily exaggerated from their 10-hour claim. Listening @70% volume with ANC turned off (mostly because I don't care/need it), and I'm getting about 6 hours, at a discharge rate of 25% per 90 minutes. I know manufacturers always exaggerate their claims by going by their testing standards like reduced volume ect, but still, I expected at least 8hours @70-80%
Still happy with the upgraded bass and clarity over my Galaxy Buds + though. A steal for $120

Thank you for this in-depth video! I’m an iPhone user and I’m currently choosing earbuds to buy. I’m looking for the best sound and ANC you can get at the price range of $150.
I’m considering Edifier NeoBuds Pro (but iPhone can’t benefit from their LHDS/LDAC codecs, their app is a little suspicious about it’s requirements, and the reviews are controversial), EarFun Air Pro 2 (but they don’t have an app with the EQ) and some of the LG Tone ones (but I want a great sound, not connectivity). If you have an iPhone, Apple airpods and beats subrand are best suited for it. I am personally leaning towards those LGs. My current in-ears are the buds plus. Really good sound for their size and very long battery life. No ANC though. So if the FP9s are an improvement over the buds + sound wise, it's already a deal for me then.

Right now I’m considering Edifier NeoBuds Pro and Palm Buds Pro, but I guess I’ll go for the Edifiers since the Palms aren’t currently available in my country. But if you know better alternatives, I’ll be glad to consider them as well!

Very comfortable, good sound, and lot of customization through the app. I have tested the plug and wireless feature and it works great. I personally would not really trust it in a live show environment because it's just Bluetooth so doesn't have the range and reliability of a true wireless IEM system. I'm an audio engineer but mostly just corporate events now so my application would be using these just to PFL (Solo) something, like an upcoming video or just to make sure somethings working properly, not really mixing with them. I do think they would work in a pinch as IEMS however another question would be how much of a delay is there through Bluetooth and would it affect your playing. For $129 bucks right now I'd say give em a shot. Even without this feature they're still worth the money as high quality earbuds

Really? I had a pair of these and sent them right back. They sounded absolutely dreadful and tinny - especially with metal. I messed with the setting and the EQ and everything but I just couldn’t get on with them at all

Not really a review, more of a influencer piece.
Where are the mic test samples with various background environments? Does it pair well to the PC for Skype, Android and Zoom? Do you loose functionality PC vs Android vs iPhone? What comes in the box? Do they have different ear pieces?

@@b.rocket It's ok. I found some real reviews where the UA-camrs actually did some work and ran various tests.

@@2bnor2b20 This guy did ok. I have these earbuds. They are the best in this style. 3d sound stage sounds better than my beats fit pro’s spacial.

I got these and when ANC is on they make a weird faint noises..., volume is mediocre. Not that impressed at this price point. My gf has a pair of Huawei 3 times cheaper... much better value. And you can actually turn off noise cancelling or pass trough using touch compared to these stupid things that only cycles between and on or pass trough. I was aware LG is full of bugs and stupid stuff in all their products.. but still went for it, never again!
