I want to praise this GREAT review, but at the same time I want to provide a bit of warning: I was an owner of the FP9's until end of July, for over a year total as my purchase was around march 2022. The reason I no longer own them is they went for repair due to 2 MAJOR failures, as both buds started dislodging themselves due to poor glue. I never had them in strong sunlight, never crushed them, and certainly didn't abuse them although I did wear them on a good 30+ workouts during the tenure. Another MAJOR fault was that the case's UV light protections unglued themselves too. These are thin sheets of acetate-like material, and without them, the UV LED will likely be worn out from sweat pretty fast although one may not notice it since the FP9 case also has the "fake" blue LEDs which are just for show, and UV is never really on for us to see if working. I want to stress that I even found other people complaining online of the former problem, and the repair center (which ended up not getting the parts on time, hence I got refunded) mentioned the problem was common (of buds dislodging). The later problem is likely also common, but since I was very lucky to notice it - I saw both films come out in different instances - most people likely have not noticed, and the fact we can't see if the UV LEDs are actually broken also doesn't help. All in all I would never purchase these particular buds again for these major issues, despite LOVING them while they were OK. I was a bit disgruntled when I purchased them for not having wireless charging (I originally thought FP9 would have it, but they traded Chi for Plug and Wireless between FP8 and 9). This year, as you say, there's multi-pair, which I really wanted for dual PC/Phone use, aptX which also left me a bad taste of the mouth vs same-price buds with better codecs (Samsung Buds Pro, XM3-4, etc). But most of all, I am looking that they have improved those two major issues I pointed. I have a pair of T90's coming as they were just too good to pass at 150EUR, and my fingers are crossed. Even this year, I could not find anything better for my needs, as the Buds Pro 2 still lock out 2 main features behind Galaxy devices - their "multi-pair-like" feature being a major example, and good codec being another. I'm a bit sad for the choice of aptX+SnapdragonSound vs aptX+LDAC which would be more universal (yet more cumbersome in reception, but still), but aptX alone is fine as it's the HD version. Hopefully my S20 FE will cope with the maximum quality. I'll report back if they indeed have the major issues fixed, but in my case it took over a year for the problem to present itself. Thank god for EU consumer laws which made me get a refund for the long repair time and I get 2y full warranty for stupid stuff like this.
Also adding that I would love to hear your opinion @InsideTech about these two problems on your FP9, but since you review a load of devices, you might not have put the FP9 to enough use (or T90 for that matter) to see any of my problems. At least see if any of your FPx buds are perhaps dislodging from their 2-piece casing as it should be fairly noticeable. I suspect the main reason for this dislodging is precisely because of the UV treatment, as some types of glue are sensitive to UV, such as that used in consumer electronics such as smartphones. I may be an outlier, and I know other brands have had their issues. Sony for example had a battery debacle on both XM3 and 4 with an update no less. Apple's airpods have been known to fail early too. Yet I cannot give it to LG even if I am putting my money where my mouth is NOT by repeating the mistake of purchasing them. Their good featureset and audio quality will mean little to me if these end up failing for such a problem AGAIN. Might even put me off buying their TVs and Monitors which I have actually been considering for some of my purchase decisions.
First of all, thank you! So you're right, I haven't been using them every single day because of how many others I have to test and use. But I always spend a few weeks heavily using each pair before reviewing, and then I rotate through each of my earbuds to use in future to check for long-term performance, updates and to keep the batteries healthy. So I probably haven't used them as much as most owners would, however I haven't noticed the un-glueing issue myself. This is highly likely a quality control issue - so some people will have it worse than others. I don't think it's a UV issue (even though your point about the glue being sensitive is completely valid). I say that because the light is concentrated onto such a small area on and around the ear tip/speaker grill. I don't think this will affect the casing. So as I said, i've not experienced it myself but I know others have in the past as well. I'll keep checking in future to see if I have this too. It's completely fair if this has shaken your trust in a company though - you can only go on your own experience and if the product and/or the customer service isn't good enough, that's fair enough!
The fit & sound quality of the LG TONE TF8 left me with my mouth hanging. I'm NEVER going back to $20 ear buds! Like the song says, "When you're used to filet mignon It's kinda hard to go back to Hamburger Helper." Thanks for the breakdown.
Nice review, informative. I've gone for the ufp8 sports earbuds, for my needs. I'm still using the superb LG v60. A shame they don't make use of aptx adaptive.
Thnks for a good comparison. I got the T90's. I dont know if its since I have all LG AV equipment but the dolby Atmos puts my 7.2.2 theater set up to shame. But what amazed me most was the Atmos head tracking when using vr.
I am planning to buy the T90, but i want to ask how does their circumference suze compare with the airpods pro? Also how do their sound compare with the airpods pro?
In this instance, most likely yes. That's not always the case - i've heard 6 mm outperform larger drivers before. But it could well be a contributing factor here
I have a pair of fp9s that the shell on the right earbud just split apart. Called lg and they don't want to really offer any help to them as they say they are in warranty but cannot warranty them. I'm an electrical and general contractor and love their battery life, and the tf8s seem like a better option. I'm worried about dealing with lg on warranty issues with them as well. Any feedback on this?
I have a pair of FN7s that just had the left earbud split today. I've had them for 2 years so they're clearly out of warranty. I had been planning on picking up some FP9s or T90s for a little while as an upgrade, and now I'm going to have to move on that now. I was hoping that the splitting problem I just encountered would be less likely on the newer ones due to the more smooth seam on the case split of the earbuds, but I guess not. I was debating getting an extended warranty on them, but you just convinced me that is definitely needed. I'd consider getting something different because of it, but LGs earbuds have the perfect set of features for me.
No feedback from me personally really - i've not encountered this issue with any of my earbuds before. But I know you're not alone with this. Haven't had to reach out LG's customer service either, so I can't help there either - i'm sorry! Hopefully others can be more useful
I have had a pair of FP8s and FP9s. Both have had literally fallen apart, the glue that holds the in ear part of the shell and the stem has seemingly dissolved leaving a gap. Has anyone who owns the t90 had this issue?
Got them into the studio recently 👌🏼 review is coming but a couple of other videos to go first. I guess I should make a direct comparison though since I’m calling these potentially the best all-rounder. Can soundcore beat them though 🤔
Thank you! Yes, the FP9 does have Plug & Wireless. The FP8 doesn't though! The FP8 has wireless charging instead - so make sure you choose carefully if getting those. As I said to you before though, the T90 are probably what you've been waiting. They have multipoint, plug & wireless AND wireless charging 👍🏼
@@insidetechltd Today, I tested the Space A40 microphone for the first time for work calls. The feedback is that it is unpleasantly loud, that they had to turn down the sound on their phone... Second, my voice doesn't sound clear, it's like vibrating or other noise going through the microphone (I'm in my office, no wind or noise at all). When compare to my daily Artic Pro Wireless, the sound is much clearer and better quality. My colleagues rate the Artic 9/10 and the A40 is 5/10 for microphone quality. I'm a little disappointed, the A40 is such a good value, it does everything good except the call quality which was my main requirement. If I do decide to return this A40, do you recommend the LG Free Tone T90 over the Jabra Elite 85T for my use case?
I am planning to buy the T90, but i want to ask how does their circumference size compare with the airpods pro? The airpods are small and good size that fit my ears well. Also how do their audio/sound compare with the airpods pro?
It depends on what type of sound that you like. The LG earbuds certainly have deeper bass and they offer much more customisation over the sound. If you're talking about AirPods Pro, the LG earbuds sound better for sure. But with AirPods Pro 2, I actually think the mids are cleaner and the overall sound is more refined with AirPods. Again, it depends on what type of sound you like. As for the circumference, the LG T90 are slight smaller (the entire earbud is slightly smaller overall)
I have a bad experience with powerbeats pro as they caused an itching with my ear and irritation around the hook. I've tried galaxy buds pro for 30 min and already caused ear irritation ( i ve read reports about the building material that was changed was somehow causing irritation ) . I was planning to buy bud pro 2 but was affraid of this since build material is the same as buds pro . I think with your video Im really considering buying T90 as comfort is something really important to me . Whats your favorite earbuds overall 🤔?
I remain convinced that one of the main reasons why LG earbuds are only popular is that despite their rather high prices, LG never makes updates to bring new features or fix flaws. The Fp8/Fp9 for example have not received any update to improve the quality of microphones in phone calls in noisy environments, and especially none of the new features of the application and even less multipoint while the hardware allows it. LG should take a cue from Apple and Sony and update its earbuds, instead of just releasing a new model for each new software feature.
I have the LG T90 . It is now £90 ( Black version on Amazon UK ) , a bargain if you consider the extras like the ability to use the wireless connection for old equipment ( old iPod , car media , radio ) that have no bluetooth. Both 3.5 mm and Usb wire connection provided. in the box. My Old Chromebox has only Bluetooth 4.O. When I connect it using the usbc to the old usb ( on the computer ) I have a much better range where I can use the earbuds away from the desktop computer. The ANC is mediocre I think but the sound is good, I am not an audiophile. The app is very good. I have other earbuds to compare with but the LG is the most versatile. Multipoint connectivity is useful.
I actually don’t know for sure - it could be some proprietary tech that links the case and the earbuds together. A question best asked to LG I think, sorry!
Hello, Can you give more details on plug and wireless mode when game mode is turned on? I'm looking for good audio quality but very low latency headphones/earbuds
The latency is low, but still doesn't compare to wired use and may not be suitable for fast-paced gaming. It's low enough for movies, but it's still a wireless connection between the earbuds and case, so there is always some latency
It's the same idea, but very different on a pair of earbuds vs the phone speakers. The earbuds also provide head tracking, so the experience is more immersive and realistic
hello, do you recommend these tone tf8 or better the jayrbid vista2, I want them for running or some other headset for 210 dollars, I'm going to switch to samsung, thank you very much
No, I don’t think so. The case is the only thing communicating with the console, so the console won’t recognise that there’s a microphone (it will only let the audio stream to the case). And then the earbuds communicate with the case to receive the audio, so I doubt the microphone will work. I can double check this later today with my PlayStation
My only complaint with these is that there isn’t a Home Screen or notifications drop down widget to quickly change modes if you gotta talk to someone or need to hear a train announcement like AirPods or samsung or jabra earbuds. Or if I just wanna keep anc/ambient mode off without having to into the app since you can’t turn off both with touch controls. Even the apple beats fit pro got widgets on android while my LG T90 with my LG V60 require an app to use 😅
Are you sure? I’ve got an LG widget on my phone that lets you tap to change the ANC mode! It’s on a Pixel, so I’m sure there’s probably a widget for the V60 too!
@@insidetechltd thanks let me check again, I just didn’t see any widget after downloading the app. I checked on my iPhone too (lol) and there wasn’t any for that either but no suprise
(You probably are but) are you adding them from the widgets library? Not from the app? I just tapped to add a new widget and scrolled down to find the LG option on my Pixel. It might be that there simply isn’t one for LG phones. But that does seem kinda crazy 😳
Did anyone's tf8 constantly create breaks in sound during their listening sessions? I feel like mine does it a few times during a single song. I tried other earplugs with my phone and they all worked fine just this one seems to do this for some reason
@@insidetechltd I ended up ordering a replacement and will see if that fixes it. I did troubleshoot and nothing seemed to work so we will see if the new ones fix the issue
Nice content thank you. The TF8s microphone's are not going to be as good because of the IPX rating waterproofing makes it harder for them to perform. Latency on UA-cam with Android is a real problem for me anyway. Thanks again I'm enjoying your reviews. 🤔👍💯🇺🇸
Everything that i had from, anker, jbl, bose etc, sony linkbuds S for me are the best, extremely comfortable, good sound, enoch anc, and battery, i dont like xm4 they dont fit that well, for me if they dont fit and have a good sound, they can have the best anc in the world, there is nothing more important then sound and comfort
I had the LG TONE Free UFP9. Bought them because I was suckered in by that UV sanitization stuff. Very comfortable but sound quality is absolute garbage no matter what settings you have in the EQ. Never buying LG TWS again. If you want fantastic sounding stem earbuds for the bargain price, get the Soundpeats H2.
I was looking to buys these for my birthday. Ive seen a bunch of reviews on these a lot of them say how good the sound quality is. But I've also seen a few reviews agreeing with you saying the sound quality and build quality are terrible. What are some of the problems you have had with them? Just want to know so I can buy a great pair of tws that will last with good performance.
@@westicleY If you want outright sound quality, the LG aren't it. With TWS, you'll find that you'll buy one pair, then want to try another pair, then another pair, then another pair etc etc. Either go full whack from the outside with something super premium like the XM4s for sound quality or start cheap with something like the Soundpeats H2. Both have great sound quality for their respective prices. The mid range stuff is pretty meh my opinion, not cheap but not offering good quality for the price.
@@westicleY If you really must try the LGs, then the way to do it is probably to buy on Amazon, then return them if you don't think much of the sound quality. They have a fairly decent return policy, provided you don't constantly return everything you buy....but personally, I'd give the LGs a miss.
This review are not 100% accurate. The LG's do not have compatibility with Iphone Siri. They do not read notification and you cannot start SIRI unless you touch a button. the Hey SIri does not engage.
They are compatible with Siri, just not “hey Siri”. The review doesn’t claim otherwise. I also specify on screen that voice alerts are for android (the word “android” is shown next to that listed feature). Again I don’t say anything in the review to contradict this. So how is the review not accurate?
This is the exact comparison I was looking for. Thanks a lot!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching 👊🏼

And then the earbuds communicate with the case to receive the audio, so I doubt the microphone will work. I can double check this later today with my PlayStation
can you use transparency mode with one bud?
Yes 👍🏼
@@insidetechltd may I ask where you found the widget? Is it in the app settings or find it in the widgets screen? Or see what it looks like?
(You probably are but) are you adding them from the widgets library? Not from the app? I just tapped to add a new widget and scrolled down to find the LG option on my Pixel.
It might be that there simply isn’t one for LG phones. But that does seem kinda crazy 😳
Sorry, this got caught in the filter. If you’re on twitter then hmu and I’ll send you a screenshot of the widget and where to find it 👍🏼
I have a problem with my dfp9 when I use them on max volume with bass songs the drivers crush why does it that pls help😢
Bass often distorts at max volume - it's just too loud for the drivers to handle it
Well on my 2€ headphones I didn't had this problem😂
Or Anker sound core life p2, jlab air, Yamaha yh e700a and others of mine
@@insidetechltdthat means lg sucks with high volume I will send them than back to the seller thx
Did anyone's tf8 constantly create breaks in sound during their listening sessions? I feel like mine does it a few times during a single song. I tried other earplugs with my phone and they all worked fine just this one seems to do this for some reason
I've not had that myself. Time to give them a factory reset/update them?
@@insidetechltd I ended up ordering a replacement and will see if that fixes it. I did troubleshoot and nothing seemed to work so we will see if the new ones fix the issue
🤞🏼🤞🏼
Nice content thank you. The TF8s microphone's are not going to be as good because of the IPX rating waterproofing makes it harder for them to perform. Latency on UA-cam with Android is a real problem for me anyway. Thanks again I'm enjoying your reviews. 🤔👍💯🇺🇸
I think you’re right about the mics. Saw the same thing with all the early ANC earbuds - pretty much all were only IPX4.
Thanks a lot for watching! 👊🏼
What are the 3 best earbuds that i can get for around 150$?
Good question, I think a $150 video would be interesting! I have a
I'm not a fan of the general sound brightness that airpods have. Getting such a good alternative is a good thing.
Absolutely 👌🏼
Hi! Quick question. Are the T90s any louder than the FP9s? If so by how much? Appreciated ✌🏽 great video
Thanks! No, not really. They sound almost identical in volume when you set them equally and the max volume is too high to be comfortable on both
@@insidetechltd Thank you for this!
T90 must have for travel life changer
They are a great travel option for sure 👍🏼
Sony ericson walkman series sound is a best sound on the earth
Why they gotta be 200 bucks and radioactive peeepee yellow inside
LG is best in world
Everything that i had from, anker, jbl, bose etc, sony linkbuds S for me are the best, extremely comfortable, good sound, enoch anc, and battery, i dont like xm4 they dont fit that well, for me if they dont fit and have a good sound, they can have the best anc in the world, there is nothing more important then sound and comfort
Have you tried these lgs? Considering linkbuds s or LG tone free fp9
Fair enough, at least you tried them 🤷♂️
I was looking to buys these for my birthday.
@@bojack3827 OK cheers mate
This review are not 100% accurate. The LG's do not have compatibility with Iphone Siri. They do not read notification and you cannot start SIRI unless you touch a button. the Hey SIri does not engage.
They are compatible with Siri, just not “hey Siri”. The review doesn’t claim otherwise. I also specify on screen that voice alerts are for android (the word “android” is shown next to that listed feature). Again I don’t say anything in the review to contradict this.
So how is the review not accurate?
