And that's why i rarely watch true wireless earbud reviews. It's like they're ignoring the entire definition of the word "headphones" and treat sound quality as one of the "less important" features.

Hold the swab away from the mouth for accurate results. Most of the 168 reading possibly came from your mouth. Try it again without talking or wear a mask. Thanks for the video.

There were so many issues with this test. (1) What was the baseline when new and out of the box? (2) He swabbed both earbuds on the first test but not the second test. (3) How much did him speaking into the swab influence the reading?
Note: most of the germs on the buds came from his mouth while he talked over them

Yeah, also what affected was that he swapped/cleaned some of the bacteria off when he did the first test.
I was looking for this comment
718 was based on 2 earbuds being swabbed. The second test was based on 1 earbud being swabbed 168. So it knocked off around 191 each on the reading. Overall a good product (does the job) - will require a few UV sessions to bring down those number and be cleaned.

Never sterilised my headphones using them over 35 years ! Ears are fine.
Exactly why now are everybody so much paranoid on the bacteria thing they where there always right from the moment you got born they will always be there and plus our body is capable to handel such bacteria if not we would have never survived for this long

I think the best scenario these can be used in is when you don't have access to the actual charger such as you are out with friends and you want to share some music with one of them then put it back in the case to make sure you haven't picked up germs from that friend
The next logical step would be to install a wax vacuum so that the buds will clean your ears while you use it

2:20 Lew slamming his hands down without looking while that blade is open, sharp side up, made me anxious.
I wish this review went a little more in depth on the actual buds and their performance. While the UV part is a really cool feature, what’s the point if the buds aren’t all that great in and of themselves?
One thing to remember, the second test, as well as the first one, you were talking. Your spittle possibly shot out onto the swab which increased the bacteria. So perhaps do ANOTHER test while wearing a mask or with your mouth closed or something. You were swabbing and talking and you were pretty close to your mouth. So that test is inconclusive.
A tip for next time you do something like this, make 3 tests, first straight out of the box, second after you've tried the sound and listened to a few songs, and third after cleaning them. And dont put the swab so close to your mouth while speaking and breathing(or use a mask). I think that would give a more accurate reading.

Imagined my own unboxed therapy show. downloaded the iPhone app. connected and paired. but the app wouldn't connect. The app wouldn't connect....I tried and I tried and I tried again. what gives??? Suggestions for any help would be appreciated.

I saw it was mentioned already but indeed if you keep it so close to your mouth you get a lot of micro organisms from your breath in the sample. When I take patient wound samples I always wear gloves and mask to avoid this.
Everybody watching this with earbuds probably just took theirs out to clean them 🤣

My question is, how much of the cleaning process was actually due to the swab? The swab seems pretty thorough.
You should've tested them right out of the box. Also, when you tested them the second time, you only swabbed one bud.

Wouldn't have mattered as he was breathing and talking on the buds and swabs up close everytime. But in other circumstances, yes I thought the same thing of clean swab needing to be done first before contamination attempt.

They share a lot more than just earbuds.
That's called a luminometer. It uses an enzyme called Luciferase to break down ATP into light and the luminometer reads the emitted light. Actually pretty cool stuff!
