As a Bolton fan, I can remember just 2 years ago watching a Sky Sports Countdown of our beloved club going out of existence. Fortunately, we were saved on the last minute, but unfortunately for Bury they didn't share the same fate. All I can say to Derby fans is im so sorry you're having to endire the same pain, we are with you, football is with you, continue to support like you will do and pray that there will be a positive outcome from all this, I believe that you can
I remember the countdown, it was absolutely disgusting by sky sports. The fate of a beloved football club turned into a farce. It’s funny how there’s no self awareness from Gary. It’s sky sports that have ruined football for the rest of the English league
@@darudesandstrom1067 And players like Neville and Carragher themselves who’ve used the Sky money to demand outrageous wages that have caused a financial arms race in football. It was obvious someone was going to go bust either chasing the Champions League like we did at Leeds or like Derby did chasing the PL. at this point they could be looking at a phoenix club starting at the bottom tier. It’s sickening Morris keeps Pride Park.
God Yahweh loves, and offers Salvation Only by Faith in Christ Jesus, because we sin and deserve hell, but God who is Great in Mercy sent His Son Christ to Save us, he became man and lived among men, but without sin, and suffered the punishment of our sins, was filled with the Holy Spirit, gave his Life for ours, and was raised from the dead by the Power of the Holy Spirit, by Order of his Father, paying with his death for our wickedness, giving us Salvation only by Faith, not by works so that no one can boast. Glory to Triune God, God bless you..
As a Bolton fan I feel for Derby we had an owner who pumped millions into the club ,got us into the Premier league, Europe, new stadium but it wasn't sustainable, Mr Davies couldn't put anymore of his own money in and sold it unknowingly to an asset stripping new owner (,approved by the EFL)and we nearly lost everything. Fortunately we were saved by the wonderful Sharon Brittain and a consortium of good true people. There's an interview with Sharon Brittain on utube she explains the problems and processes she and her team had to go through to take the club to safety. Truly amazing job.
Gary lad, I hated you when you played for Man. Unt. but since you retired from football you talk a hell of a lot of sense. You wouldn't like to become chairman of Everton would you please, for God's sake, please?
I’m so happy you guys at Bolton were looked after. I’m lucky - I’m a Fulham fan and we’re middle sized and wealthy. I would be so stressed at the thought of losing my club.
Gary’s analogy of the situation where siblings fight over the will is poignant; spot on tbh. Desperate situation where clubs fight to secure their own interests (granted, fairly) whilst another is falling into total ruin. Good luck Derby fans! 🙏🏻
Totally agree, punditry is not the line of work for Neville. He should be in the directors office making calculated decisions every thing he said here is bang on the money.
Derby like many Championship clubs have spent well above their income for years and were the biggest culprit in breaking rules concerning finance. The executives past and present are entirely responsible for the club's current predicament.
@@ThePoushal What he's saying is that it's pointless dragging out (at costs) the inevitable. Until business protocols change in favour if what began as community owned clubs to a different model, this will always be the case. Every club is just one bad decision or unfortunate event away from administration.
Worst part was when he did it to dodge ffp some of us knew it the finances would be in the toilet and that's why he was doing it, but you're powerless to stop it. I just had to sit there and watch him recklessly spend the money and wait for this to happen.
As a derby fan, this is absolutely heart breaking. The club I’ve supported my whole life may not exist in a month all because of the owner who gets to walk away without punishment
@@Salman-Bin-Ahmed I didn't accept the business model. Neither did any other fan but we didn't get a say in it. The owner did. And he gets to walk without punishment

Derby and villa were in the exact same position when they played each other in the playoff final, whoever lost that game it was a downhill spiral. As a villa fan I'm glad we came up because we could be in the exact same position that derby are in now. I feel for them and hope they can get some decent owners to come in and help them
But that's the thing we are getting to the point now that football clubs very existence hinge on one off playoff games to make it into the big time and if they don't they are toast. That just isn't right. It's all down to the the top league becoming a monster and the lower leagues failing to keep up.
I was at that game. You’re right we’ve slowly entered a decline and now are in a hole we’re struggling to get out of. I don’t know what I’d do if I lost my club. It’s more than just a game
very true, hope "someone will come and help" is the only solution --- to any club. I get what Gary has been saying for past few years since tat interview with Richard Scudamore --- but u cannot simply have everything. If u want ur Chelsea's and City's to ensemble a great talent -- someONE like Portsmouth_2010 will have sink and give way. - tats how capitalism works..!!! even if u have regulations and regulators --- owners will squeeze and try to exploit as much as they can.... simple we cannot have it all... its sad but true....!!!
Villa fan too. Inconceivable is the word Neville used. Agree! Derby are huge, great fan base, huge potential! They cannot fold, absolute joke to see this club in this position!!!!!!!!
Absolutely spot on! Remember my dad taking me there when I was a kid to watch a pre-season friendly against Lazio with the likes of Nesta and Crespo. Was awesome. Sad how far they've fallen.
So what you want about Gary....but his commitment to the game is unquestionable. If people all over the world shared his passion the World of Football would undoubtedly look different and we wouldn't see greatness fall. Gary Neville is Footballs White Knight and it's about time we start to take him serious on all levels to save not only the game but the clubs that make it.
Can I just say as a Derby fan myself (living nearby in Nottinghamshire), when I heard of the Bolton and Bury financial issues, at the time I throught this issue wouldn't affect my club. However when it actually happens it completely changes everything. Now because I've seen it happen to my club I don't want this to happen to any other club (if possible) and this could happen to any club if they're not careful. I'm really glad for people like Gary Neville who always sticks and speaks up for the fans
As a Norwich fan I completely agree with you, yet our fans on Facebook keep calling out for a rich owner to buy our club, fans are not learning or are just so far from reality they just don't think of what the consequences could be, of course we all want progress for our respective teams but at what cost? My uncle is also Derby fan living in Nottinghamshire and I will be sad for Derby if they go bust, I hope you get a rescue package from a willing buyer!! So much history there, and a few rivalries you made along the way aswell as great memories!! Long may you continue!!
I really hope you lot get back to where you were. I’m a West Brom fan and I wouldn’t wish this to any other club, not even our biggest rivals. Come on Derby!
They made the gamble of all gambles to get into the premier league through massive overspending but they lost in the playoff final 2019. Since then, it’s just fallen apart.
@@beatsbyadmiralz5915 Derby roughly broke even in Lampards season in terms of transfer fees. Especially because they received what is possibly a record fee for one of their players when they sold vydra to Burnley for around £12million. In terms of Derby's recent 'gambling', that year wasn't really one of them. The damage had already been done for the most part. Also - Lampard managed to maintain the clubs league position from the previous season despite the club selling the previous seasons best player (as well as also doing better in the play-offs). The year after, Derby failed to get close to the play-offs without Lampard.
It's unbelievable that the 50+1 rule has not been used around all the world. I'm not saying that in Germany everything is better but regarding the owners and how the club's get runned it's 100% better then around the world
@@thefinisher9025 that's the thing. People forget there are other systems in the world already in place other than how the uk and usa want to run things that already solve the problems
@@thefinisher9025 50+1 isn’t the solution. There are so many loopholes in it that it hinders the smaller clubs more than it helps them. Leipzig, Hertha, Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Hoffenheim are basically not acting under the 50+1 restrictions and can’t get punished because of the loopholes in the system
Why should Wycombe and Middlesbrough stand down? It was Derby’s fault for splashing the cash looking for that golden ticket to the prem. When it didn’t work out they have to be held accountable otherwise others will do the same
A lot of others have already done the same and not been held accountable. QPR beat derby in the play off final while breaking FFP rules. They were fined but Derby were never compensated. If every club that misses out against a club that breaks the rules and then takes them to court, it’ll be mayhem. Derby broke the rules but do not deserve this much punishment.
As a pompey fan we also know how Derby feels. Really hope this gets resolved soon. Some of these owners of football clubs are really playing with people's careers, livelyhoods. It's not acceptable
as a southampton fan i know how all fans of these clubs are feeling, to this day we still worship the great markus liebherr that saved us. god rest his soul. still grateful that his daughter owns 20% of us just to keep his dream alive. every one of these clubs deserve saving by someone that cares and is passionate.
I feel desperately sorry for the Derby fans and players. I am a Liverpool fan, but just as a football fan it's a crying shame that this keeps happening to clubs with such a rich history and loyal fan base. What Rooney and his team have managed to achieve in the league though is nothing short of incredible, they are definitely not going down without a fight. They would actually be pretty comfortable sat in 13th/14th position and 15 points clear of relegation. And given there points deduction and having 14 points is a testament to Rooney and his players under a ridiculous situation created by the owners not them
Well said. And kindly said also. I have seen Liverpool at Derby many times and even when we were beat they were a joy to watch. Like Derby in the 60's, 70's. Small muddy pitch, players that loved the ball, and no giving the ball away which was a new thing at the time that has gone un-noticed in History. It was a terrific day out with World class players that you could see for £1. Thanks for your kindness
Freaking love Gary Neville. Clubs are part of our social fabric. They give us our social purpose. There's some irony of Sky Sports pushing the cost of football upward.
like he said AV was in the same boat in that play off final, Both teams spent massive amounts they couldn't afford, That's an issue financial fair play should of stopped that surely. I'm a Leeds fan and that's how we got relegated from the prem years ago, Over spending chasing that champions league dream and look where we went down and down the leagues. Clubs shouldn't be able to spend money they don't have without the owner been liable for the full cost at least! and the stadium should belong to the club! never a separate thing.
Thanks Gary. Mel should be arrested for fraud, the man convinced everyone he was a lifelong derby fan. Also not paying his tax bill should be an arrestable offence
How good is Gary Neville?!!👏🏻 You’d put your trust in him if he was a politician! Needs more people like him in positions of influence. Assertive and genuine.
As bad of an owner he is. I doubt any Derby fans would say no to him right now. If it's a choice of Ashley or administration. I'd choose Ashley everyday.
@@masteryoda1541 The fact he kept Newcastle profitable is why newcastle can splash up to £500 mill over the next few transfer windows He might not be a good owner for the pitch in regards to the business side he is a great owner for derby.
Bottom line, Mel Morris might very well have killed Derby County. I really hope not, and I am still hopeful that we will survive, but I also understand that we may very well be a sinking ship, and that there is nothing that Rooney, the players, or the fans can do about it. Rooney didn't even find out about Derby going into administration from the owner himself. Forget what Rooney has done at United or England, forgot that he is a household name, forget all of that, he is the manager of your Football team, and you clearly don't care in the slightest, because you couldn't even be bothered to inform him of the situation. Despite all that, he stayed and has done a fine job in keeping safely hopes alive. Ultimately, the club is affected, but so is the manager, so are the players, so are the staff, so are local businesses and even the little match day food trucks, all because of the sheer incompetency of the owner.
Just out of curiosity, in the likely scenario Derby do end up dying from this, what then? Who will you support? I couldn’t imagine it happening to those I support so I’m curious if you’ve given it any thought.
@@PeacockRhino true, but it wouldn’t be the same would it? No history, brand new club and large parts of the fanbase gone to other clubs due to family relations and such. Would be a terrible state of affairs for Derby fans.
He said nothing of substance, i dunno about you, but all he said "things need to change" and in his version of reality, he thinks that anyone other than the owner of the property should have a say on how individuals choose to run their business.. I dont see how making it harder to run a club by further regulation and restrictions helps the situation at all.. if anything it puts off potential investors, whom, will doubtless do the exact same thing. Gary is purely upset with market forces, then.. heres one... spend less money than you make, and you will never go into administration. It never has and never will be any more difficult than that.
No. So Wycombe, the one year in they get into the championship and then get relegated, thanks to Derby's chairman Illegally failing to declare losses so they wouldn't be deducted points, causing Wycome to go down instead of themselves are now meant to let Derby off the hook. Sorry Gary, your banfmg wrong there. Damn right they deserve compensation, every last penny
The same Gary Neville who brought Adam Rooney to the national league on £4000 a week wages. I don’t dislike Gary but he only says stuff the fans want to hear but with zero achievable solutions.
@@calumcadman8514 I don't really see how your point relates to what he did. If he can afford the player for 4k per week then your point misses the substance of this video?
I had a thought the other day. I feel like the state of football at any particular time reflects the state of the world. More and more we see the problems caused when a minority can play by their own rules, to their own benefit and face zero consequences for how they impact the majority. Derby fans are powerless. All of football has sympathy for them, except for the few that could actually do something about it and help.
as a Rangers fan, I totally agree with Neville here he’s bang on the money here. Farmer approach is needed, cut all unnecessary costs. Focus on football

Hello...Yes at this moment the Rams are walking through a minefield, on the pitch they are showing passion and giving it a real go if we were to survive the season I think eventually the team will tire out and just miss out on safety hope i'm wrong Portsmouth like the Rams is a real football City with strong support they will return in time
Great analysis from Gary there. As a Liverpool fan it pains me to say it but he's just about the most intelligent, articulate pundit on TV. Holding Boris to account recently only confirmed that for me.
Shouldn’t pain you too much. Carragher has arguably surpassed Gary Neville now after the bias with Ole and JC winding up Gary about a few things. Carragher makes it difficult at times to really dislike him and I did not think there’d be a time I would say that as a United fan. Obviously it was easy to hate the man when he was having a good chuckle at Old Trafford with Souness in the studio but it’s always like that between Liverpool and United on derby day. Outside of that, immense respect imo.
It’s Derby’s fault for overspending. They should not be bailed out. Derby’s owner should be prosecuted and owners should be regulated more strictly. Middlesbrough and Wycombe have no reason to stand down - and Derby should not be able to reject bids for players at this time
Our players would not go for the 9ish Mil (?) Needed to prove we can continue the season, Alot are out of contract at the end of the season and arguably one of our most valuabke younger players is getting bids of 450k when he'd go for 10x higher if we weren't in this situation. One of our best players got sold to wigan for 30k
Sadly I'm a Boro fan and I feel a little ashamed that our owner Steve Gibson DOESN'T want their problem gone and wants it to get even WORSE 😞 I feel like our club is being a bit of a bitter bully right now.
Gary's business associate Peter Lim is destroying Valencia in a similar way for his own monetary gain, but Gary doesn't talk about it, because Lim owns a bigger stake in Salford than the Class of 92.
It’s so disappointing because the results they’ve been getting recently they’d be top half of the table if they didn’t get the point deductions they really could avoid relegation this season if they manage to last that long
Mel Morris is entirely to blame for this. He gambled, and it did not pay off. Middlesbrough and Wycombe have every right to be aggrieved irrespective of how strong or weak their cases are. It won't be due to the two clubs if Derby goes under. It will be down to how the club was horrifically run and how the authorities were not alert to prevent this sort of thing from happening.
Two important and significant outstanding questions. First was there actually any rules made by the EFL that prevented Derby using the accountancy model they did? Secondly as a company they would have to get their accounts signed off for company house. Therefore their accountants would have known exactly what Derby were doing and why? Without looking it up was the practice actually illegal and breaking any accountancy practices? Did Derby actually do anything wrong, cos surely their owners would have known the consequences or their accountants would have advised them since they have legal obligations to HMRC etc, something not right here. Did their accountants actually sign off their accounts during this period?
The accounts were signed off, the EFL were fully aware of Derby's amortisation policy for transfer fees, the first court judgement exonerated the club from any wrong doing. The EFL appealed part of the decision and won on appeal and that is why we are where we are.
@@paulshanesmith Thanks Paul so if the accounts were signed off, the liability now lies in the hands of the accountants !! unless Derby withheld any financials that were different to the submitted accounts
@@uselessoldman7964 No, there was nothing hidden or misleading in the accounts, it was purely how the player amortisation was done. The ELF themselves signed off on them for 3 years until Middlesbrough's Steve Gibson started his complaint. This is what makes the 'cheating' claim absurd. The ELF changed the rules, applied them retrospectively and made us resubmit our old accounts, then refused us COVID loans to help through the pandemic as ours accounts weren't up to date, then hit us with points deductions when the new accounts didn't comply, now are allowing Middlesbrough and Wycombe claims against us for 'cheating'. Then there last public statement says they have no vendetta against us. 🤷♂️
I wrote a first class dissertation on football finance and called this sort of thing happening out years ago. The problem is the sport isn’t regulated properly at all (like the banking sector is now) and owners can basically do what they want with what are basically social and cultural institutions (or as Gary brilliantly put it, grade one listed buildings)
@@helvete983 fair point, and Mel Morris should be up in front of Parliament Committee when all is said and done over this. It wouldn’t surprise me if a load of nee legislation comes in to stop this happening but I feel it’s too late in general for a lot of these clubs now
@@karlm641 I'd love more transparency in football but I think the problem we will face is clubs can rightly argue if all is laid bare they can no longer get value from their prized assets. Prime example Knight at Derby for me is a 10 million player any day of the week in the current market, but now if indeed anyone bids for him he will go for much less.
I don't feel like the business side should ever reflect the football side. Regardless of what happens the club and its history should stay put, whether an investor buys now or in a year from now. Shame there's no solution for the players though.
As much as Jamie, Souness and nearly everyone on talksport takes the mick out of Gary, when it comes to the major talking points Neville shows everyone who's the number 1 pundit
He might not be the best when it comes to ManUTD or at picking out specific phases of a game, but he has an overall perspective and "bigger picture" view on stuff like this. Good on him.
I'm a Liverpool fan but Neville is absolutely spot on with what he's saying,Derby is a big club and this should not be happening but with all the regulations and rules I can see this happening again! I mean Bury were the first but when it's happening to big clubs like Derby County then it's becoming a serious issue
Disgusting that they were docked points for poor financials whilst that nest of 6 serpents at the top of the premier league tried to stab every fan and club in the back by destroying football got absolutely nothing as a punishment.
Two different things , dock those clubs and they push even further with the super league . The football league needs those 6 teams , they don’t need Derby cannon fodder
Spot on! For a former footballer, Gary is pretty financially knowledgeable. Football clubs are improperly regulated by business authorities. More checks, balances and an overhaul of financial oversight is needed and it’s been said for years!

“The football Family, Wycombe and ‘boro need to stand down” Yeh Derby really took that ‘a football family’ thing on board when they cheated ‘boro out of the playoffs and Wycombe out of staying up. The ‘man of the people’ Neville has opinions that are all over the place.
Oh give over Derby cheated Boro out of the play offs? Was this the same Middlesbrough that went on a 7 game losing run that season? Do you see Bristol City suing Derby? Given had they not lost 2-0 to Derby on the penultimate game of the season, they would have taken the place instead (their goal difference was far better than Middlesbroughs)? If anything, the EFL should be taking action on Middlesbrough for putting in the most disgraceful performance that the Championship play offs have ever seen against Aston Villa mastering 1 single effort on target. What a joke! The relegated clubs would have given Villa more of a game - they were a complete insult to the championship playoffs and deserve being relegated for it. Oh and cheating Wycombe out of the league, was this the same Derby (and Rotherham) that had numerous chances to relegate Wycombe and Sheffield Wednesday that season but didn't take it. How come Sheffield Wednesday aren't taking legal action given Derby would have been down before they played, potentially giving Wednesday a better chance to survive with a win.
@@thomashobson1674 a lot of waffle there but ultimately writing all that was pointless Derby have been found guilty of breaking the rules ie cheating. Case closed mate.

One man's mistake cannot mean one of the founders of the football league evaporates, especially a club as big as Derby County who have won league titles. It's terrible
Knowing how lucky I am as a Man City fan. Absolutely horrific what’s happening with Derby and they deserve so much more as a fan base and a club as a whole. Imagine supporting your club all your life and you find out it might not exist anymore. Can’t think of anything worse. I really hope they pull through and get a buyer as quick as possible and hopefully see them in the prem one day again!
I don't know much about the Middlesbrough case, but I think for Wycombe it's that if Derby A) hadn't cheated and B) had been punished in the right timeframe they would 100% still be in the Championship. I think a big part of that falls on the EFL, but ultimately Wycombe are a club trying to grow and have been cost a massive amount of progress and income because Derby cheated and then managed to hold off on the punishment. They are right to push legal action in my opinion (though that could fall on the FA - no idea how that works)
That's why both Middlesbrough and Wycombe are suing and both suits have value. Because if Derby hadn't cheated and was punished in the correct timeframe, Middlesbrough would have gone to Wembley(or at least, had a chance to go to Wembley) and Wycombe would have remained in the second division as their finances were actually IN-CHECK.
The Boro case is very weak tbh because you can’t say for certain they’d have won those matches. Wycombe’s case is 100% factual though. If the points deduction was immediate Derby would’ve gone down and if the EFL were wrong to defer it they should be compensated.
@@PeacockRhino I don’t think it’s about believing they would have won those matches. Derby received an unfair advantage because they cheated. If an F1 car cheats and gains an unfair advantage to make the car faster, it’s no guarantee it’d win but they should still be punished for cheating, otherwise why have rules.
@@PeacockRhino Even if they lost all of their legs in the play-off, the fact that they(Middlesborough) were denied a place by Derby is their point of contention and why they sued in the first place.
@Gillie Monger which was by the rules though no? Wycombe had not broken a rule to get there, Derby broke several to get where they ended up. Regardless of who deserves what
Luton Town went through a similar situation. Fortunately the fans managed to step in via a loophole. Agree that owners cannot walk away and still have hardcore assets to sell to developers.
Derby didn't sue QPR when they were guilty of breaching FFP rules in 2014, despite being beaten by them in the play off final. The EFL coffers swelled by £17 million from fining QPR whilst Derby got nothing.
Owners shouldnt be allowed come in and strip the assets of a club, sell the stadium etc. Its a joke. Clubs and fans take decades to build their clubs up and get stadiums etc and then someone can come in and just sell everything off for themselves. Also owners shouldnt be allowed leverage the cost of the club against the club like the Glazers did. Another total scam
That is actually the scariest part of all. It isn't just the smaller clubs but look at United. They have a stadium which is a joke with the owners this year committing to 3 cans of paint as their big investment in it. They are taking dividends out of a club hundreds of millions in debt. The carpet bagger owner thing has got to stop or the whole thing could come tumbling down.
Spot on with the Category 1 listed building comment. Football clubs inevitably are businesses, but there are ways for businesses to be protected like that.
Boro and Wycombe stand down lol, I'm pretty sure if Salford were in the position were theyd be done out by a club that bent the rules yous wouldn't be standing down, give over. Football is a family, what a load of muck. Tell that to the super rich clubs/owners in the country. Tell that to Derby fc/owner who cheated the system, do you think they really care for "the family"
Yes Derby care for the football family otherwise they would have sued QPR who beat them in the 2014 play off final and were later found guilty of breaching FFP that season and fined £17 million. Derby didn't get a penny of that and lost out on upwards of £60 million premier league income.
He owned 10% of a lower league club for 7 years. 50% is owned by a billionaire. It’s like saying a local chocolate shop owner in a town can comment on how cadburys is run 😂.
Gary I absolutely agree with you on all these points especially treating clubs like more than a high street business. These are the jewels of the local people and would ruin life for many thousands if these jewels disappeared. So so sad.
Fully agree with Gary regarding regulation reform and in that sense Derby not going bust, but Wycombe (a team fan owned team at the time and nearly relegated to the conference a few seasons ago) being robbed of staying in the championship is a disgrace. What incentive is there for any lower league to reach the higher ups when ffp is biased to more "established" teams. Derby must fall so regulation can be set and precedented. Its like banks not being allowed to fail...
@@mikerodrigues2906 True but the with current regulations owners are the ones making all the financial risks / obilgations. With the current fair market rules to entice £ nothing will prevent further exploitation - especially in the lower leagues where attracting investment goes above morals. What is needed is a statement to show money doesnt rule football. Wycombe staying up and Derby being relegated may have had that effect. Pandering to Derby just made things worse.
How were they robbed? Derby broke ffp rules for the period 2016-2019, where Wycombe were never in the championship. Wycombe got relegated because they were awful
This almost happened to Rotherham United. As a result they now manage the club without debt, there’s no super high wages and super high transfer fees. Finances, supporters and good man management with players are the foundation for the success they’ve had considering the relatively small catchment area of support. Playing in the Championship as they have in recent seasons with such limited resources makes them one of the best run clubs in the EFL. Good luck to Derby, but I’m afraid they’ll need more than that to survive.
As a Coventry fan and what we've been through I feel for Derby fans. However, maybe it's time for clubs to stop spending well beyond their means and to stop paying players such ridiculous wages.
As a bwfc fan, we were so close to going out of business with the countdown with Sky outside the ground. I hope Derby can get somebody to rescue you like aunty Sharron did for us. I really do hope you get rescued
Thank you Gary. I'm one of the Derby fans who thought Mel was the best thing since sliced bread, a real shrewd operator. How wrong I like so many Derby supporters were. We deserved to be punished, but now we really do need the administrators, the league, Boro and Wycombe to come together to at least give someone the opportunity to step in and save us. Next weekend I'm going to watch us play Birmingham knowing that it could be our last ever game & it's breaking my heart. Football needs to change.
Can you explain the situation if that’s alright ? I’m slightly confused with what’s going on but from what I know it’s been basically overspending which has caught up
@@no.fourteen9316 basically it's as Gary says, our owner overspent chasing the dream, selling the ground to one of his companies in the process so our books showed we made a profit rather than a loss. As a result of this we have been under some sort of transfer embargo for nearly 4 years and this season have been docked 21 points. Our owner has rode off into the sunset and placed the club into administration. We have a few interested parties who want to buy the club however they won't commit whilst Middlesbrough and Wycombe are basically saying Derby owe them millions in damages as apparently its our fault they didn't make the play offs or stay in the division (which is outrageous). But the EFL have said said that any potential buyer must accept that they may have to pay what these clubs are asking so nobody will commit and if we don't get a buyer soon we could be liquidated and kicked out of the league. That's the situation.
We're Gary's talking about the ground situation as a swfc fan we've just had hillsbrough made that it has to stay as a football ground and can't be demolished coz of the same uncertainty that our chairman owns the ground with another company.

As a Forest fan I really hope Derby County do not go bust, Gary is spot on, these owners are getting away with fraud, Ripping off the fans, Ripping off football, Things have to change. GL Today on the pitch, May the best team win =)
You don’t run a club properly then they gotta face the consequences, you can’t give a pass for clubs who have cheated the system…
One man's mistake cannot mean one of the founders of the football league evaporates, especially a club as big as Derby County who have won league titles. It's terrible
Not the players, fans or managers fault
Really frustrating and sad that this hasn't gotten more media coverage until now.
Gary’s got it..loads of depth. If only he was in a position of power with a free hand to create change
From a Chesterfield fan I hope they pull through
Owners shouldnt be allowed come in and strip the assets of a club, sell the stadium etc.
My first game , Derby v Real Madrid in the European cup , one of the 12 founding members of the football league , bloody heartbreaking .
It’s not Wycombe and Middlesbrough fault or job to save Derby
Spot on with the Category 1 listed building comment. Football clubs inevitably are businesses, but there are ways for businesses to be protected like that.
I’m a Leeds fan . I can honestly say Gary Neville is a great man . He should be in charge of fifa and fa .
Garys analysis is spot on….a great voice!
He only wants them to back down because, again, a buddy of his is their manager
Yes Derby care for the football family otherwise they would have sued QPR who beat them in the 2014 play off final and were later found guilty of breaching FFP that season and fined £17 million. Derby didn't get a penny of that and lost out on upwards of £60 million premier league income.
@@paulshanesmith yeah they care so much about the football family that they cheated for years lmao
Make Gary Neville head of the FA
Wow just craziness.....for once Carra didn't interrupt Gary while he's talking! 😁
Coz he has nothing to offer on such subjects. Gary Neville owns a club so he well vessed
He owned 10% of a lower league club for 7 years. 50% is owned by a billionaire. It’s like saying a local chocolate shop owner in a town can comment on how cadburys is run 😂.
For 1st time I agree with Gary Neville 👏 ... n thts coming from a Liverpool fan.
He’d definitely make a good MP.
yes Major Pillock lol
Yeah, all talk no action. Perfect job for him.
Yeah but I think the owner should feel the burn of his mismanaging of the club not the fans
As a Derby fan myself, Thank you Gary 🙏 fingers crossed Middlesbrough and Wycombe drop there case and let us be taken over. As for the game today, WERE DERBY COUNTY, WE’LL FIGHT TO THE END
Gary Neville is spot on!
Middlesbrough and Wycombe need to step down, very very easy to say, it was all fine for Mel Morris to cheat his way to try get derby up now when it comes to this they should be allowed to just get away with it, madness.
completely agree with gary.
cities, towns and fans of the clubs should own their clubs. and buyers should only be allowed to run them as custodial holders of the licence to that club. this allows them to make money, but also stops them syphoning assets.
