Crash just before the 3km rule with GC contenders Vine, Tao and Vlasov losing time. According to Remco the crash was caused by Groves pushing someone but there is no footage of it
@@cracked229 The maneuver from Groves wasn't to stay upright. There was space for him. Rather it was to get back to the wheel of his leadout man ASAP. Hopefully the Giro won't reward such riding.
@@cracked229 woulda been nice to throw that info into the voiceover for this video of 2nd stage, why the hell else put into the title then skip providing?
2:45 I really hate this move from kaden groves. I know there are some pushing in pro peloton before the sprint but this is too extreme. He made a mass crash which could make some serious injuries to other riders.
No one is mentioning the unnecessary and dramatic (maybe dangerous?) sideways shift by the Jumbo Visma train seconds before the crash. Groves may have been spooked by that. It seems like the leading Jumbo rider moved right thinking someone was coming across next to him, but no one did. So maybe Groves moves thinking he has to avoid something. Just another thought!
I understand why you would say that with only the front angle... but when you see it from above? Jumbo moved to the just right after Groves pushed Ballerini and he clipped Cerny's (I think) wheel and both had to do some serious adjustments to stay up. Both Jumbo and Evanepoel shifted right to avoid getting hit... which meant whole peloton move across as a ripple... and Tusveld was looking behind so did not see until too late, could not adjust and got hit.
It's because of the crashes Jumbo Visma has been involved with, these riders are very attentive on what's going on. You can clearly see that they were pushed (yet again). Remco blaming Jumbo Visma is just his salt because he knows once mountain stages come, they will crush him. If anyone thinks Jumbo Visma is to blame after a good look at this video, he just doesn't understand cycling. Oh and if you think this calls for a penalty, then where were penalties when tier 4 cyclist crashed Roglic like this when he was fighting for podium?!
He might be given the chance to ride but there is no chance he will win a stage. He is a c category sprinter at best now. But you never know he can get lucky with other sprinters caught up in a crash or something

I have to ask who was responsible for the implementation of the barriers at the 4k and 3k to go marks/points in yesterday's Giro stage 2. Are there UCI world tour standards? Who is making the decisions as the event is being set up? I hope municipal politics is not involved? Municipalities pay to be a finishing point in a grand tour. Often finish lines are located in the downtown boutique shopping district. These areas have traffic calming road engineering implemented, such as medians, narrowing lanes, curb extensions, speed bumps, chicanes, rumble strips. One of the terms used is increasing cognitive load to slow drivers down. With the intention of increasing the chance of passenger discomfort or even physical damage to a vehicle if speed limits are not observed (such as speed humps). These downtown areas are designed to prevent vehicles from traveling over 30 kph and then 175 cyclists are asked to race through such areas at 50 to 60 kph. Why not institute standards that make sprint stages safer by using roads that can safely be traveled at 70 kph?
Wonder if Groves gets kicked out for that push... totally unnecessary and impacted half the peloton. Without it there is no crash... albeit Tusveld should watch where he is going when going at 60km/h.
@@nikkismith8750 Evenepoel said that someone was clearly at fault. He didn't name anyone, but he said that the people in the peleton would know. I suppose the controversy is about who (if anyone) is responsible for this crash.
