- The Giro leaves the Abruzzo region with a 216.5km stage from Vasto to Melfi. The majority of the stage is flat but there are two tough back-to-back climbs in the final 40km - Valico del Laghi di Monticchio (6.4km at 6.3%) and Valico La Croce (3.2km at 5.7%). Sprinters or attackers: who will prevail?

Glad to see Pinot going for KOM classification rather than trying to aim for a potential GC result (at least at this stage in the race.) Comes with so much less pressure and I think he can shine without it, hoping he takes a stage win at the Tour later this year too!
Just read he won't go for it. Happy to have it for a day after a bad start.

#feedback the preview of the course with constant rotation of the compass does not help at all. I would love a usual map, where north is up to get an idea of where they were going :)

I agree, a zoomed out view so we can see where they are going in relation to North up. Otherwise it’s a bit clueless.
Yeah as much as I like the little sperm zooming around the map it'd be nice to see what it actually looks like oriented north and on the map.
Same. Those maps give me little idea where or what direction in Italy they are going other than some kind of vague white splodge showing a region or two to give a very rough idea. Speaking as a cartographer, I’d score these 2/5 for helpfulness.

Matthews cut up Mads a bit there. Doesn't take much to wreck someones sprint.
if he'd really cut up Mads, he would have got relegated. If you want to see REAL cutting up, watch julian Alaphillipe hook Marc Hirschi & Pogacar in the sprint finish at Liege Bastogne Liege 2020. That was straight up dirty riding & he was relegated to 5th.

3/4 of this race I kept thinking why did I get up this early for the start of this race..It was so slow.

Instead of ruining the result of the finish by saying who the winner is when they approach the line, the winner is usually announced at 200-500 meters to go.
For the last kilometer or few hundred meters of the race just show the live audio and video, it’s more exciting to feel the energy and suspense of the live announcers instead the summary here telling you who the winner is before you show the sprint. I really cannot understand why you think the viewers would want the winner told to them in advance of watching it. SHOW us who won , wont TELL before.

Why announce who wins the stage at the start of the sprint? The spoilers completely ruin the highlights for me.
Why would you announce the winner 15 seconds before the finish, especially when it was a reasonably close finish? Seriously, WTF?

Even though I despise GCN+ for taking races that used to be free in Australia and putting them behind a paywall, at least the daily updates are good.
These type.of stages need to be removed from grand tours. Boring as hell and the pure sprinter is no longer a thing in the peloton as most sprinters these days are all rounders. They would be better bringing back longer TTT's. Boring days riding would be better off watching my club out for a cafe ride.

dropped at the climb, most of the sprinters did. only pederson managed to claw his way back.
He had a crash yesterday so maybe that affected him. I think he would have been dropped anyways in the climb, and wouldnt win in the sprint even if he were there at the end.
