Pudding basen aviator goggles and all !! MD did it right !!! Those down shifts !!! That sound !!! Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end !!! What a great tribute to the legend Bob MacIntyre!!! Bravo 👏!!!
As kid in 1965 I had an LP called sounds of the TT. It had this bike , Hailwoods Honda 6 Gilleras, Agos MV Agusta and many more recorded at full chat. I would turn the record player up to full volume and lie on the carpet dreaming of the day I would ride my own bike at the TT. Meanwhile the next door neighbour would be banging on the wall for me to turn it down.😂😂😂
Michael Dunlop is a force of nature.I hope that he wins couple of TT races this year to become the most successful of all time....and not a single TT Zero to blemish his record.
Many thanks for this, shivers down my back, tears in my eyes, plus I'm a convert to MD - any bloke who can wring a 100 mph lap from a 70 + year design( I know it's a replica here) must be a genius, plus he was big enough a man to pay respects to those riders of the day , who had to cover 8 laps!!!!!! They were real men, and MD stands with them. Thanks again
Well it was certainly no 'sit up and wave to the crowd' parade lap, definitely not hanging about! Love the blips of the throttle on the downchange into Parliament Square.
Gilera. A 15 anni ero perdutamente innamorato di questo marchio. Se allora avessi visto questo video, penso che sarei letteralmente impazzito...😍😍😍😍 At 15 I was madly in love with this brand. If I had seen this video back then, I think I would have literally gone crazy... PS I'm 73 years old
M.D. 100% racer....even on a parade lap - so smooth. Golden sounds from the Golden Era. Wish I had been there to see him ring a 100mph lap from this beautiful, historic machine - it was in safe hands. THX😊
I remember when he 1st started at the TT, still a teenager & riding so hard we thought the wheels would fall off. Utterly fearless, in wet or dry. Different these days, still indecently fast but so smooth now. Unbeatable on his day on decent machinery visor included! Even these days he's marmite - some can't forget his 'arrogance' (shall we say 'confidence') some years ago. Me I think he earnt that & everything he has 'from the saddle' - the genuine 'big cohones' article.
My dad, (he should have become 89 today if….) was always talking about the sound of the Gilera on the Dutch TT back in the day… now i know why! Beautiful sound and still at a good pace! I “stepped” in the motorcycle world when 1 was about 10 i think, maybe 13… i did see and hear on my first Dutch TT the last MV’s (Phil Read) competing… a 4 stroke fan for life!
What makes this historic lap even more incredible is when you realise that when Bob Mac did the first 100+mph lap on the Gilera back in 1957 the roads on the TT circuit were not as smooth as they are these days. It just brings home what a great rider Bob McIntyre was all those years ago.
Best old bike race video ever. Im not understand how a brand (Gilera) can do a master peace like that machine and now have such a bad bikes and bad finish .... It’s incredible Sade for bike fans ...
Another breath taking upload, and you got too give the rider his due he was not holding back, and yea I get it was a replica but still fantastic sound the only thing I was bothered about was that geezer looking up at the sky but maybe he just wanted the revel in the sound. Ha Ha
Top of Barregarrow twice in one lap Now it all make sense never noticed it before as with Micky D I find eyes screwed up the only way to watch him to stop head bone snap
It's not a "thing", it is a work of historical motorised art, a mechanical, racing masterpiece. 135 kg (300 lb) is not that heavy for what was, in it's era, an open class motorcycle. Didn't have the benefit of 6 speed transmission, so in slow corners in first gear the clutch was slipped to keep the momentum up. 70 hp gave around 160 mph on the fastest sections of the TT, especially with the extended dustbin fairing.

He doesn’t do things by half that’s for sure 👌🏻
Fantastic footage....and respect to Michael Dunlop to push that hard on a design from that era.....

Michael's lap was very similar to Bob Mac's in 1957, perhaps surprising present day fans how fast the top guys were back then.

That is amazing footage. Thanks a lot. I was 11 when Bob McK did the ton lap. I cried when he was killed at Oulton Park not long after.
Howard McKay thank you for watching. He was a loss to many people
August Bank Holiday Meeting at Oulton Park 1962......succumbed some days later.
I don't know who enjoyed it most Michael or the fans.....great to hear those fabulous sounds again.....

Second only to the Honda 6.
Tony Guest thanks for watching :)
Probably the best classic-bike video ever!! Is this bike a Kay Replica? He seems to be giving it real stick, not sparing it at all!!
I think its a replica but not 100% sure what to believe. Thanks for watching :)
Yes, it is a Kay replica...
Magic stuff !.
Thanks for watching
People underestimate 500cc bikes.
In any sport 👌🏻

The greatest...
Pip Piperade one of them ;)
I meant the bike..
Pip Piperade yeah agree with you there
I was privileged to see (& hear) this bike once - at the Bob Mac Memorial Mtg at Oulton Park in '62.. Unforgettable!
Pip Piperade in person is always better. The joys of UA-cam is you can now watch it at home in your own comfort
mother of god awesome sound

I am curious what was a lap speed ???/ |Better than McIntyre did or not ??//
according to Michael Dunlops facebook page he done a 100.5mph lap :)
thx
No problem thanks for watching the video
It looked liked Michael took a line that kept him on the wettest part of the road. Pretty gutsy.
the man has no fear.
Love it at 3:35 where you can hear Michael slip the clutch....
Sure can pedal a bike
Wow that makes the Duc sound passive
bryan thomas thanks for watching :)

Amazing bike! Is it true that MV based their bikes on Gilera design?
Unsure tbh. Thanks for watching. If you haven't already. Please subscribe, to help us grow :)
Yes, Pietro Remor originally designed the engine then fell out with Gilera took his designs to MV. The rest we know.
same bike same designer
Is this Michael Dunlop winning at last years Senior TT? That thing sounds like it weighs 1,000 pounds.
Clinton Bigelow no it's him doing a memorial lap
Much respect to anyone who can handle that thing. Sounds amazing.
Clinton Bigelow agreed and still set a fast lap time than most new comers :)
The '50s Gilera's weighed about 330lbs sans rider.
It's not a "thing", it is a work of historical motorised art, a mechanical, racing masterpiece. 135 kg (300 lb) is not that heavy for what was, in it's era, an open class motorcycle. Nothing like lt these days.
Agreed 😭
57' Gilera ?

Think he will turn his hands to anything tbh. Thanks for watching. If you haven't already, please subscribe to help us grow.
Wonder has fast his lap was, I know Michael is a great rider, but the guy who built that engine should be knighted!
I’m sure they posted it unofficially some where
