Me and my mates did a 24hr snooker marathon for this in my 88 we did 12 hours on my 6ft by 3ft table at home then the next 12 hours on a full size table at our local club we added the travel time it took from travelling to snooker club from mine to the overall time so no cheating it was 4 of us so 2 played while 2 had rest be it sleep or a food break was so tired at the end of it all i slept for 18hrs straight but i look back fondly at that plus we raised 300 quid 😊😊😊😊

I loved the ITV Telethon. Jim Davidson (when he was still very much a clean comedian), Emma Freud, Michael Wilson, Josephine Buchan, Danny Baker, Chris Tarrant for Thames/LWT, Bob Warman & co. at Birmingham's NEC, Fred Dinenage, Fern Britton, Bobby Davro & Matthew Kelly in Brighton for TVS (including the live action remake of Jo & Petunia with Matthew & Fern as the couple, Bobby Davro as the sailor in the style of Frank Spencer).
Fun fact may 30th 1988 is the day that ytv viewers will not switch off the tv set from now onwards (they will do it on that night through) but not on the next night because ytv is doing 24/7
That theme music is so annoying! Sure it was great fun to participate in the events if you were there, or to spectate - woohoo, I’m on telly - but rather tedious to watch at home.

The big problem was they never really said what charities would benefit from it. Telethon just for the sake of it.
