Really enjoyed watching that Football Focus from 1984 - what a contrast compared with today when the producers insist on having an inane racket that masquerades as music going on in the background!!
Discussing Liverpool and Man Utd for the title, and little did they know, one of the greatest English teams in history came through to take it. #everton
Talking about Juventus and Liverpool as favourites for the European Cup that season is quite eerie and ominous. When you consider the events of 29th May 1985. It’s crazy how often things like that happen.
God the good old days when you could watch cricket; golf, rugby and other sports now you got to pay lots of money for that privilege and it's a right pain in the wotsits and i know i can't afford it take me back to 1983.😢
Takes me back to when our public service broadcaster had a decent range of sports on offer. Then came Sky bleating on to anyone who would listen that they had nothing and couldn't compete with the BBC's unfair advantage. Roll on 40 years, the BBC's sports portfolio is a joke, Sky now monopolises ALL the sports you USED to get on Grandstand of a Saturday afternoon, the only difference now being that we have to pay for the privilege of watching it. What a bunch of mugs we are.
Jan molby talking about the Liverpool accent he now talks like he was born there. Great times you didn’t have all these so called pundits talking rubbish. Then thinking they can be come game show hosts. 🤣🤣
Studio 5 at BBC Television Centre was the home to Grandstand on Saturday Afternoons
Can't believe this is now 40 years old, surely not, only seems like yesterday
@@angelacooper2661I was only 10 then and I’m now 50! Crazy lol
Listening to the European piece on Liverpool and Juventus, little did they know what was to come at the end of that season.
Quite a haunting piece when you think of the events that would take place on the 29th May 1985……

Some punditry nowadays is an inane racket 😂😂

Wasn’t life so much simpler, and certainly so much better back then…..🙏🏻
Oh yes indeed there too if only now of course too!
Yeah but the weather forecasts were wildly inaccurate! 😂
Football Focus was such a good programme back in the mid 1980s - none of that inane racket that masquerades as music!!
I wholeheartedly agree with that statement!!
The BBC 1 continuity announcer was Mike Gamble.

TBH Sky does have entire channels dedicated to sport, unlike the BBC.
