I've owned a 2006 EX model since 2009, and it's been very reliable. I'm looking forward to upgrading to a newer model, as soon as the craziness with used car prices comes to an end! Two years ago, I rented a brand new Toyota Sienna SE and found that the engine in my 160K + miles Odyssey ran a lot smoother. Hondas in general have always payed me back in one form or another. My Odyssey, for example, held its value so well, that on several occasions, my credit union offered to refinance my car loan with the ability to get cash out. I've never experienced this with any other car.
All the generations of the Toyotas competing minivans look better and you don’t have to worry about the transmission crapping out or changing the timing belt because Toyota have timing chains for almost ever generation of minivan they made😂
Just got a 2007 exl with 144,000 miles on it for $2800. It's in great condition and I feel like I got a great deal. I'm probably not going to find too many people my age also driving a minivan.
I bought a 2003 Honda Odyssey EX some time in May 2021. Got it for nostalgia because I grew up with one just like it and always had a love for the 2nd gen odyssey. I'm 24 buying a mini van lol I may make a video of the van soon. We are the rare club

A few things to note: - VCM (which was only on the EX-L and Touring for the 3rd gen before being made standard for the 4th gen and up) is actually not a good thing. It's known to cause engine problems and so people have installed devices to disable VCM, as it only saves 1-3mpg at best. The VCM engines for the 3rd gens were J35A7 while the non-VCM engines were J35A6. - There wasn't a real rear badge change. My 06 has it on the left. They did however introduce a new transmission in 07. - Second row sunshades were standard on all trims - PAX was only on Tourings and was discontinued in 2009.
2008 is a 3rd gen too. You don't get to pick and choose.@@WhiteWizzard And the original VCM-1 models still have plenty of issues. Seen so many of them come in with the same exact symptom: rear bank cat is destroyed by oil burning, sends its guts downstream and clogs the 3rd cat, resulting in the engine having no power due to the exhaust restriction. VCM-1 is by no means exempt.
Grew up with 03 ody thought it was best thing ever . When it got totaled we got a 07. Never really liked how much bulkier it looked but it really grew and is super refined compared to 2nd Gen
The 2005-10 Odyssey Touring w/Pax does have a spare tire. It's behind the access panel on the driver side rear quarter. My mom has a 2006 Touring and she has one from factory.
I agree the Odysseys steering makes you forget its size. Honda knows how how to do FWD handling. It is also surprisingly stable at speed i take they learned alot from their old partnership with Rover (here in usa probably no one remembers the Sterling brand haha)
I had a grey 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L die on me at 186K miles, we ended up having it scrapped 5 years after figuring out we'd probably have to rebuild the transmission. So it pretty much sat around, killing the battery completely, damn good alternator though, after you jumpstart it every time. I really wouldn't treat the vans poorly if you were to buy one of these, don't beat on the things, they aren't nearly as strong as the nissan cube we traded for it lol.
@@EddieOklang I did like how the last van drove, and the sound of the engine when it accelerates, just hated the power sliding doors cause they were messed up, which is the whole reason I want a low trim.
The rear door sunshades were available on models without the rear entertainment system. My 2005 Touring has them. I don't know the option code for them or if it was something specific to the Touring model has the shades and no rear dvd.
I bought a 2008 EX-L (not the Touring model) which has the sunshades on the rear windows. No rear entertainment system. I've had the vehicle for two years and have been happy with it. He built me a removable platform for a mattress. I sleep like a baby in there. Campgrounds cost a lot less than hotels when you're road tripping. Just saying. 🙂
Had a 2005 with 330k. Drove like a sports car-- till someone backed into it. Got a 2011 odyssey "lightning"--- floats and bounces going down the road, and the steering is way too light. Honda has truly lost it's way...

The new one looks more like a funeral carriage a couple of weeks I was down in baja and saw a fleet of late models honda odysseys as funeral carriages so just for that I would buy a sienna in the future 👍
