Im a piano player of many years, and I recently learned how to play this classic. Man. it brought me to tears! Elton, if you ever read this, lemme tell you brother, you are a fucking GENIUS. Your understanding of music theory, synchopated notes, chromatics, diminished etc, is just extraordinary. People: you have NO idea how intelligent Elton really is in song structure and music composition. Playing the Stones and Beatles are one thing, but Elton is on a whole other fuckin' planet. It brings me to tears how good he really is. WOW. Cheers everyone! I hope everyone in the world gets to see EJ in concert. Namaste.

The world is also awash with average sound-a-like music made on laptops thesedays, using the same sounds, effects, drum loops etc not by bands in studios (unless you are U2, the Stones etc). It's cheaper and that's all the music business is interested in.
Yes indeedy. There are many Modern day Artists that are amazing and talented, yet most of them don’t make it big like the Pop Stars you see or hear on the radio. But that shouldn’t matter. Music is meant for everyone to enjoy, with different opinions and tastes. People like Travis Scott or Ariana Grande, I like Elton John but also Modern Artists like Cavetown, Chloe Moriondo and many more. Just because it’s different from when you were a kid, doesn’t mean it’s less of music. Music is different and changes like people
an awesome performance......of the worlds best.......male vocalist.....and composer......ever.....period.....frozen here....frozen in memory.....a brilliant example of what being the best....truly means....from the days when the sun did shine........theres not much a person can be sure of theses days.....but one things for certain.....stunning performances like these.....don't walk by everyday.....the part at 4:55 where he sings "fffrrreeeeeeeeeee"....is awesome....i'm so glad his mom made him.
Man is this ever a great version! I love when he uses syncopated rythm in his compositions, brings back so many memories! Love his voice and the grinding/course vocals that really made it great! I can't wait for Rocket Man!!
I was at this concert, It started at 12 noon, Other acts were, Big country, Kool & the gang, Nik kershaw, and a couple of others, It was fantastic and a good sunny day.
I agree about the drug use - look how often he goes to his nose during the song. I also agree about Dee - it was a shame to lose him at such a young age.
Back when he still had a relatively supple voice. I think a lot of my fave versions are from this concert. Shame the full length Tiny Dancer doesn't seem to appear anywhere

I like Dee but his constant "plucking" of the bass at any opportunity used to piss me off. He really seemed to have a fascination for it during 1983-4 and would use it far too much at times totally unnecessary. There was no need for it here, towards the end, but he insisted on doing it anyway.
