Damn, incredible hip hop track in the beginning. I’m finishing my frap tools system now and wanna build a boat with the squid salmple and pams, and some utilities and modulators for a little hip hop sketchbox
I love ALM stuff so much, they're hands down my favorite eurorack company. I really like the way this system looks and how it's put together too. Unfortunately I already have like half of these modules so I don't have a reason to get it lol. I do disagree that the squid has a pristine quality sound tho (and any ALM stuff for that matter), it doesn't seem to use interpolation when you repitch the samples, so you get a lot of really lofi artifacts. All of ALMs stuff seems to have little lofi quirks when I listen closely. Most of the time i think it coheres well with their aesthetic, it sounds like theyre often inspired by lofi digital stuff from the 80s and 90s
All I had was the Pam's New Workout and now I have moved up to the Pro, and I see the Squid as easier to use than my Bitbox Micro and I like the Quaid Megaslope over my Maths and the mixer over my Roland mixer. So I might be selling a few things . . .
Very much agree - super coherent design that works so well as a system, especially if you're into that 80s and 90s sound, esp. early Rephlex Records/Warp of that time.
@@jonajhiggins yeah totally, also a bit reminiscent of the less chiptuney side of demoscene stuff, like the vibe of music and art made on old computers back then
