- I do production work with my iPhone and iPad everyday and I've used a huge amount of iOS apps over the years to achieve my goals. However there are a core group of apps that I've kept coming back to, simply because they always get the job done. Audio editing, music production, video editing, photo editing, research and managing files. You name it and there is an app for it. Here's my top picks!

Yes! And thank you
What apple products do you reccomend using I was thinking of getting an ipad mini 6th but you seem to have some older units in your video?
Koala Sampler, for me, is a real game changer for iOS apps. I recorded my baby niece the other day in a coffee shop. Nothing else is ready as Koala….
Thank the lord walking around with a mic giving us another rant.
It’s great to come back and see the humble you which I always liked.
I just like making noises, so my daily drivers might be a bit different than others.
Obviously Garageband is a fantastic resource.
I bought a Korg Nanokey Studio for input and have since purchased nearly every module for Korg Gadget.
Audiokit Synth One is fantastic for making synthwavy kinda beats and the Midi Learn function is super intuitive.
Model D by Moog is excellent for classic synth sounds but some of the buttons are a bit small on an iphone.
I purchased the full upgrade for Music Studio which is quite a nice simple daw for beginners that also has native inter-app audio.
ThumbJam has lots of excellent samples for a free app but is really just a noisemaker.
Real Drum is good for when I've got a beat stuck in my head and just wanna lay it down on the fly. Lots of different kits and even some lessons for dummies like myself.
For back of house stuff, MIDI Score is great, Synthesia is great with the upgrade, BLE-MIDI for connecting my midi controllers and Tuner by Boss is a solid tuner .
For Android, my favourite on the go app is Walkband. Makes a great sort of musical notepad for laying down ideas on the go.
Chord Analyser is great if you can't quite work out a particular chord.
FL Studio is great, but it feels a bit clinical.
I miss the Fruityloops days
Makes me happy to see figure is still in your heart, after all these years 💖
I just can’t be without it!
I use Koala Sampler right now with UA-cam mostly. I really miss the NI Maschine mk1, and the mpc 2000xl, the MPC 4000 and the sp404sx. But Koala has been a way to stay active making music even after I had to sell my gear to try and earn a RN license.
Hi, you are a cool and honest guy. Loving your contributions! Keep on doing like this! Best regards!
This is a bit leftfield (good band) but Documents by Readdle is awesome and free for general purpose file movement, downloading and stuff. To be honest I’m not doing much music on iOS these days but enjoy following “the scene”.
Excellent video! Thanks for the info!!
My pleasure!
Cool, valuable and entertaining!
Awesome video Jakob 😎🙌
Thanks Dylan! 👊🏼😊
Top vidéo man ! 👍👌
mega great Video Jakob as every time !! Supa dupa !!! and you kill me with Tim Cook clip hahahahah peace bro
Thanks for watching! 👊🏼🥰
that was useful - tack så mycket !
My pleasure!
Opening Figure for the first time in some time. Thanks for the reminder Jakob. Great video bro. 🎶⚡️⚡️⚡️🎛🎚
My most used app is Audiobus (never felt the need to upgrade to AUM for what I do), but I love anything Bram Bos or Klevgrand. I always have at least one app from them on whatever I'm working on. Recently I've been having a lot of fun playing with Soundfruuze, I feel that's such an underrated app. Btw, now you've got to give us that one year long video! 😉
iPad:
Suggester (Chord Bank) - I use to send midi thru wifi. [rtpMIDI]
Moises / Transcribe+ (AI Stem / Acapella) - use mainly for acapellas to structure a song or remix
I’d love to see Figure updated to make it AWESOME
-made into AUv3
-modified to accept samples
-increase number of measures
-allow key changes
Please do this PropellerHead!
-
also drop the need to login
For music my main apps are very similar. AUM, Cubasis 3, FF apps I also use bleass motion eq and motion fx a lot as well. Video editing, lumafusion and videoleap are what I use a lot. Photo and graphic design, I use so many. Bazaart, to iColorama, FIBE, procreate… so many more lol
I was in your video again! Paper me feels like a rock star now! This was a very interesting video, I predicted a lot of it because I follow what you do - I too use notes like, all the time - setlists, copy and paste stuff for promo, lesson schedule, birthdays, stuff not to forget or the Mrs will be angry, narration.... it goes on.
I think you were born a rockstar bro! 💋💋
Politonus I & II are great apps that I use to help improve my musical chops.
Of course we all need both AUM and cubasis if we want to be happy.
Yet another brilliant bit of content, as always; based on Jakob’s recommendations I insta buy everythi….wait $37 JESUS!
Great stuff. Brussfri is king 👍🏼. I dont have fab filter. I use Tone Boosters because I want to use the such essenial apps on both iphone and Ipad. If fab filter goes universal it would be a instabuy.
I’m sooo looking into core animator 😉👍🏼
Everyday apps for me ( maybe not every day but very frequently for sure )
Drambo
AUM
Pdf expert
Files
Safari
Pixelmator
Camera
Carrot weather.
Streaks habit tracker
Thanks for the app list Jakob. Always useful to see what you actually use. A couple apps I use daily or very often....
For a Music app, Grooverider GR-16 is my go to groovebox and drum machine. I usually start here to get a drum beat going and see where it takes me, either continuing in GR-16, or using AUM and other synths with GR-16.
For note taking, Microsoft OneNote. There are better note taking apps for iPad/Mac, but OneNote is the best for multi-platform compatibility (Windows, Mac, iPad, iPhone, any web browser, etc.). Having my notes available on all my devices is important to me and very convenient.
I thought Notes was convenient because how it updates seamlessly between iDevices. However OneNotes works across platforms hub? That’s pretty powerful.
Thanks for a fab video - at the moment I am using AUM Pure Piano, Gauss, Drum computer, Mononoke and Bleass apps - haven’t tried Fab Filter Saturn as it looks a bit complicated but tempted - wondered how you back up and transfer files from audioshare to your computer or hard drive? Do you use the iTunes file sharing? 🙏 😊 oh and really love your animations and always wondered how you did them !!
I find it simplest to use the files app to transfer files back and forth between the external drive(s) and my iPad. Plug in the hard drive and it just pops up in the files app. Love it! I transfer stuff between the MacBook and iPad with AirDrop. Also very simple. No cables just send and it’s done! ♥️
Exxelent video AGAIN!
and thanks for the non iOS tip : Magic Music Visuals , for mac.
MMV is soo good and the license isn’t much either. Really easy to work with thanks to the modular interface. 👊🏼
@@JakobHaq Yes , i've been eyeballing it for a while, then forgetting about it...and now you brought my attention to it again.
It's seems flexible and the price is just right!
I really like the Drums @ 10.38 , what is it ? Thank you so much ! Great Vid/info ....!
-Safari (news, porn bank, shopping, Facebook)
-Notes (info plans photos, downloaded videos)
-Skype, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok
-Telegram (for cracks, pirated ebooks)
-Cubasis, bias FX,
-Google drive and file app
-Google maps with Waze (to see if police are near by and avoid speeding tickets)
Try Goodreader for file management.
Ding ding dong... let's get another dongle! 👌😎
Midi programming/song demos - Korg Gadget (now also experimenting with 4Pockets Helium)
Notes - Goodnotes 5
Artwork - Affinity Designer/Photo + Procreate
Mixing - Cubasis
Mastering - Bias Final Touch
Visualisation - Staella
Midi control - MIDIPad
I’m curious about Goodnotes. What is it about the app that makes you choose it over the Notes app?
@@JakobHaq I use it with the Pencil, so I can copy/paste screenshots and scribble all over them, and my handwriting is just about good enough that I can search for text within my notebooks. Also, I draw a lot of stuff out (as when I was wiring the studio or building out my campervan) and being able to zoom in and do detail notes on particular elements allows me to think, and process thoughts, in a more granular way. So I can see the big picture, or zoom into detail while ignoring everything else.
Ah, I get it! I’ll have a look at that app. Sounds like something I could use myself.
For handling youtube videos for learn lessons i use 4k video downloader for Windows - because sadly my ios videodownloader "fileget" is since some weeks not compatible with youtube.
for Pictures : Pixelmator and ArtRage and waterlogue,
for Video: LumaFusion and LumaFX, Frax HD,
for creative producing: Gadget 2 (soo creative tool) , Cubasis 3 (christmas present from sound test room), AUM, Audanika (SoundPrism,..)
Korg Gadget 2 (i hope 4 some new Synths (and AU3 support) , PureAcid, GoldWave, GAdget 2, iMPC Pro 2, Yellofier, DigiStix, Drambo, The world of BramBos, and have i said? GAdget 2.
Audioshare, MPC 2.10 (Win 10/Mac) and Beatly Pro.
iCloud drive and files App
And the wonderful Arturia Keystep 37 with Akai MPC one, Uno Synth (Your tipp ;-) ), Arturia Microfreak And Korg Kaossilator pro + and Korg keystudio
What I use the most on my iPad Pro: FL Studio, Cubasis 3 + Waves plug-ins, BeatMaker 3 from Intua, BlocsWave (I have all the IAP), AUM, Sunrizer by BeepStreet, all AudioKit apps like Bass 808, AR-909, Synth One, D1 etc, Pure Synth Platinum 2, Bassalicious 2, Pure Piano, TALUNO Synth by Tal Software, Korg Module Pro, Figure, AudioShare, LumaFusion, Eos 2, SparkVerb, Ravenscroft 275, all FAC AUv3, Analyzer from 4Pockets, a bunch of BLEASS AUv3, WZBL from Klevgrand, Agonizer synth, all Fabfilter plug-ins and a lot, lot more. It depends on what I want to achieve. There’s something else I want to tell. Fabfilter Timeless 3 is coming to iPad as an AUv3 soon. If you want proof of this, just reach out to me :)
Two things: 1) If your pee looks like juice, see your doctor immediately. 2) The app I use most consistently is AUM. I use it to develop live performance setups running multiple instruments and effects. I find myself using GeoShred, both as an instrument and as a controller. Also, I love Kosmonaut, both as a multitap and as a simple Frippertronics-style looper. My favorite app of all time is Borderlands, but I try not to use it excessively.
As always, thank you.
👊🏼😂 I’ll get in touch with a doctor stat! 💋
You’re da best.
No, my audience is da best! 👊🏼
GarageBand is my #1 along with Cubasis 3 which is almost tied with GB. But I also have ZENBEATS, and I prefer GB, Cubasis over it and of course there better than Zen, but I been using zenbeats mostly lately, Something about makes me keep going on and ignoring the better GB and Cubasis. And I also tend to use FREE Apps alot Instead of my paid ones, it’s crazy. I like it when an app is free w/inapp, cuz those are the ones that I end up paying for
Thank you!!
My pleasure!
@@JakobHaq I got Figure because of you! Awesome. Considering the FabFilters... (so expensive!)
I use the endlesss app it’s the holy grail of apps for me Why?
Because in app there are drums synths bass sounds and even a sampler and loads more
If people want they can give it a try it’s fully functional but if you subscribe it’s inexspensive
then you get additional sounds every month very good usable sounds
You can hook up all your external apps witha mixer and aum or use your external hardware gear
You can play/record music on your own but even better with people all over the world
I always get lost for hours playing that way
And you can go back every step you did later to download stems to do remixes finalize tracks it’s just awesome
The app is made by Tim exile and his team
I stumbled on this app at the time I wasn’t doing music anymore for about 1,5 year
I was bored with doing tracks with all the hardware I bought and bought not doing anything
This kicked me right back into the passion of making music again
There’s loads more to this app there’s a whole great community around it
So for me this is it and I think a lot of people who haven’t heard about it will love this great app
I hope to jam with all of you guys cya 👍🙏
Hey Jakob, i will add to your video this -> from Stratospherix - bundle pro FB (File Browser). Excellent file management + incorporate - player and viewer. Before iOS release Files - this app was the only one - and even now - FB is the king. Recommend this always to any iOS community. To play audio / stream they have another cool app MusicStreamer. #1Love
FileBrowser Pro is useful, yes. Even with iOS having the Files app, FB Pro adds a few extra features Files is still missing. Easier connectivity to local network drives for example is one I use a lot.
You pressed the ear for TWO seconds!! 😃😃😃
😘😘
THANk YOU! Very useful. Interested in Lumafusion but doesn't look like it get updates too often, is it even on a discount?
Lumafusion has received regular updates ever since it’s release and it gets more powerful with each update. There’s a big updating coming real soon too. I’m not sure about discounts for that one though. Haven’t been keeping track of it. But if you check sites like appkaiju.com and search for Lumafusion, click in on that page and then scroll down, you’ll be able to see update and sale history.
I use DawnBeat to store some quick ideas and it’s so similar to Koala (which I also have) And I tend to use it a lot
I wonder what all the noise is that surrounds you? It must be an excellent piece of software as it’s silent.
It’s Ventilation shaft noise.
My man. Add as well…. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you for supporting me! 😊
Can you do a video on how you setup sync and record 3 instances of figure simultaneously!?
How to sync Figure with Ableton link (it shows two instances of figure but yo only need to follow the steps on a third instance > ua-cam.com/video/YrO-zHfptHY/v-deo.html
To record, I use a multichannel sound interface. It’s connected to one iPad and then I connect alll other iPads to the sound interface. I use AUM to setup all the units and then I record there.
Thank you for a great video Jakob. I'll throw Atom 2 into the pot.
I have a 2020 ipad pro 12.9 inch usb-c model and I want to connect my devices to it like my korg monologue, kaossilator pro+, drumbrute impact and korg volcas. How can I get any of them connected to my ipad? I also have a 2021 ipad that still has the headphone jack and lightning charging: how can I can my stuff to it? Thanks.
What’s better reason or figure. And aren’t they from the same company
Do I need an iPad Pro to get the most of my iPad?I just got the 2020 32gb cuz it was cheap but was this a mistake ?
The 2020 model should be more then enough to get a lot out of. The biggest issue you’re going to have is storage space. It fills up really quick.
Howdy Jakob! Great videos and insight. Any chance you will review Ninja Jamm Pro? Seems like an undiscovered gem.....
Dude you are 100 percent about figure…
what's your fav torrent site for audio cr@ks?
AUM, EG Pulse, Beatmaker, Egoist, UA-cam, Firefox and Top War 😂
Ah, gotta do some gaming to in between production. Personally I play FTL: Faster than light. I’m shit at the game though. Never managed to finish it once. Too much rng. But it’s still fun.
Music wise…

Once we can use Brusfri in LumaFusion 🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah I can see how a lot more f people are going to like being able to use AUv3’s in LF. Personally though I’ll most likely keep working with Cubasis for audio editing since I’m so heavily based on audio stuff. But for doing vlog videos and stuff, man it’s going to be quick work.
@@JakobHaq definitely! 🙌🏾
+1 Year Long Video. :P
😂😂
Figure is great for inspiration on the toilet.
Firrrrst
Figure requires your personal info to make use. Nope.
