2025 Ram RHO Snow mode vs Auto Mode = ECO mode on MPG Loop? Cruise control quit working!

- We finally tested the Snow mode on the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO to see if it in fact gets you better fuel economy than the standard Auto mode. On this day for these conditions we saw a slight improvement in fuel economy, but at what costs?
Also the first time we have seen the cruise control not able to work, this looks to be because of a slightly dirty from ADAS sensor.

Love your videos. Think I'll stay with auto and enjoy the RHO power. Had mine one month and am still feeling excited to drive it. it's such a fun truck to drive.
I am glad you are enjoying your new truck! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the channel!
lol I just scrolled through all your comments trying to figure out, if you had figured out that the cruise control wasn’t working due to snow on the sensor lol. I knew that was the problem just by looking at the front of the truck haha. But I’m from Alaska where sensors are useless in the winter because they are always caked with something (snow, dirt, ice) so you either clean ALL of them constantly. Or just shut off all those commodities and drive it as is. lol
Glad you figured it out haha
Yep, Alaskan winter problems! I'm learning! what an awesome place to live, I am jealous!
thanks for doing this
Thanks for watching! Glad it helps. More to come on the RHO!
Thanks buddy
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Your auto drive stuff is at the top of your windshield. The radar is in the bumper. Additionally try another loop with the transmission in manual mode. Snow mode starts in 2nd gear and also turns on your headlights. Manual mode is going to be best and just do your best to up shift when you think it can. Also on the TRX it does NOT pick up 2-3mpg. MAYBE 1-2 at most. The best I got in my TRX was 16. That was driving in auto mode shifting manually. Only downshifting if needed. The manual mode is the real ticket for if you want more MPGs in this truck. I'm getting 13-14 in town right now using manual mode. Even have multiple WOT pulls to get out into traffic too. Also on 91 fuel not even 93.
Good catch! I will do a manual transmission run next, thanks for watching. I need to confirm which sensor ( I believe ADA) is down in middle of bumper, I think that is for the Hands free system, where the one on windshield is for the adaptive cruise...but I need to confirm. Good info and thanks for sharing...I am currently in the middle of an experiment on fuel uses on the RHO!
I seem to be averaging 12mpg but much of that is because that gas pedal likes to touch the floor a lot. The truck is a blast to drive.
It is a blast for sure!
Great video, yep MPG is not the best buy that's not why any of us buy this awesome truck. My last 1 averaged 10-12 so anything better than that is a deal for me 😂 great video!
Same I get 7.5 mpg in my 392 swapped 1500🤦🏾♂️🤣
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I agree, fuel economy isn't the top priority for this truck!
I did notice this truck loses a lot of mpg once you get up to 70mph in most videos. 65mph seems to be the sweet spot
ya 60-65 it seems much better...its been so windy 70mph kills mpgs!
have you added a Bed cover yet ? that might help with wind drag/improved MPG?
i am working on it! struggling to make a decision on what to go with!
Question, will is the new generation ram electrical system allow you disable auto cruise control, and only utilize traditionally normal or regular cruise control?
Thanks keep up the great work !
Great question, I am looking into this to better understand.
on my 25 Laramie I have both, normal cruise and adaptive cruise. RHO may be different?
From what I am understanding the RHO with hands free driving only has adaptive cruise, no normal cruise option...still trying to understand this.
LAST THING: is the auto start and stop always on?? Or can you manually disengage it permanently? Or do you have to turn it off every time you get in the truck????
you can manually turn it off. I need to see if it stays off or not...I am so used to it on other vehicles (and the RHO is so quiet/smooth) half the time I do not know if its on at a light or not!
So I just placed an order this week on one. I’ve seen some concerns on the thermostat and possible electrical issues. You would assume when the dealer gets the vehicle in they do the proper checks to make sure everything is working properly. Is there anything specific there worth asking them to double check?
More to come on the comment about thermostat...this seems to be a non issue on the Ram 1500 (only wagoneer was the issue).
I watched a video yesterday from a service tech that said every TRX/RHO he has inspected had low transfer case and front diff fluid. Have you had yours checked? Curious if this is true? The vehicle he showed was about a 1/2 quart low on the transfer case.
I will look into this!
I'm guessing it starts off in 2nd gear to reduce the wheel spin when hitting the gas from a full stop. Maybe by staying in 7th gear it uses the engine to slow down to reduce the breaking actions.
I think you are right! makes sense, thank you for watching!
I thought the engineer in your previous video gave you the recipe for best fuel? Put it in Baja with traction off, obviously not safe but that would put you closest to rear wheel drive not 4 wd.
I need to look back at that! Most people recommend snow mode on the TRX, so thats why we tried that first! I will keep an eye open for that other post! Thanks for the comment.
On my TRX forward collisions would be disabled if you have the hood open or slightly open and not all the way closed. That could be why your light is on and cruise disabled.
Good to know! It ended up being that dirty front sensor! thanks for the comment and for watching. This is the ADAS sensor that is unique to RHO moving forward for the hands free driving.
My 2019 4500 Cummins 7 ton box truck with 4:55 gears gets 15 at these speeds and 11.5 in stop and go traffic , horrible mpgs , I live in the PNW with allot of elevation change everywhere you go
good to know! thanks for the comment! Cummins is a decent MPG truck! Thank you for watching, more to come on this and comparing to my cummins towing a similar trailer!
I see we still can’t get away from MPG. Has anyone used a usb on that second screen? How’s a Home Depot run on this truck? Just curious…
I only did this because a bunch of people asked how does snow mode do vs auto mode. I have tried an HDMI cable and it worked with Iphone, need to try a USB on it. Truck does great towing! video to come on that soon! Pretty cold out right now cant do much off roading in this beast! soon!
I have a my Raptor has a button to shut off “start/stop” and It remembers that I want it off. Does the RHO have it where start/stop can be shut off?
Yes RHO has same button to turn off start/stop! Thanks for watching!
@ great videos!
Does the winter grade fuel factor into this ??
winter fuel definitely negatively impacts MPGs
How does this compare to your bro raptor mpg’s?
So far per the last video I did about 1.5mpg less but will have a follow up on this in summer time. Towing wise...that is another story and will talk about this on a video posting soon! Stay tuned!
Another you Tuber is a Ram Tech and he reported most of the RHO ‘s have come through Low on Transfer case oil you should maybe check that out
Good to know! I will be sure to check that out on my next service, thanks for the tip!
Still waiting for fun video putting truck through passes. Don’t really care about mpg on a performance truck.
Stay tuned! That is definitely something I plan on doing...right now its -5 not much I can do out here besides freeze! haha Dunes open April 1st!
Why are u crying about how much less performance SNOW MODE gives vs auto?? Its SNOW mode for a reason lmaooo
Touche! still wiping the tears off my face! haha thanks for watching!
There have to be more interesting things to talk about with this truck. I have one on the way and I could care less about fuel economy.
Fair enough, I'll keep that in mind for future videos!
I think he did a great job on the video and giving the audience an idea of what to expect for the new powertrain, it is more efficient but not much more efficient than the hellcat powered option. Some people would probably just say at this point I'll get used hellcat. You didn't have to watch the video but each to their own. There's a lot of other great content he has provided for us on this platform!
@@prozz5664 I agree. All of his videos are well done and I appreciate his content. I was just stating my thought on the topic. I have one of these trucks coming and like the rest of us are looking around for information on them. There is a lot of new tech and ideas on this truck given the climate of the automotive industry. This Truck is something new to the market and there are a lot of interesting things to talk about.
You mean after spending 80k on a truck you don’t care if it gets 14 or 16 mpg? 😆
@@johnmorris77 nope not at all
