@@MoAnInc Hello. I see you mentioned the ghost of Sicheus character from Publius Ovidius Maro's "Aeneid" but failed to mention to Prof. Irving Finkel that "giving food or drink for the dead" is not for their*(the dead) consumption; in song III, from Homer's "Iliad" - 'taking claret they pour it as 'paos' in the dirt', or song XXIV - 'Paos of claret for Zeus before the leaving' , or in song II verse 584 from "The Odyssey"- "Had made 'paos' for the eternal Gods ", the offering of food and wine is as the living , in the honor of the dead who cannot perform the ritual anymore, are making an offering for the eternal Gods. So, the ritual is performed by the heirs of the deceased, because the Gods are eternal and to show them respect one must continously perform the ritual, even in his/hers absence. I saw some "unusual" phenomenon in my life, even ghosts, but I cannot find any Facebook or UA-cam account of Prof. Irving Finkel. Can you ask him please to reveal at least one of his accounts so we can contact him ? Thank you !

Dr. Finkel just exemplifies the virtue of truly going deep into a chosen subject.
I’ll speak for myself, but it seems that many of us are in danger of never really penetrating anything beyond the slightest break upon its surface. Like a rock skipping and skimming across a still body of water.
We may get a sense that we know a lot about a lot. But in truth we know only a little about a lot.
To really get deep down in that space where true communion with a subject can occur requires real commitment, perseverance and dedication.
It’s inspiring to hear a real deep diver like Dr. Finkel go into his chosen subject of communion; his still body of water.
Thanks for the lovely interview. My own dedication is refreshed. 🙏

I like you interviewing style; you allow your guest do most of the talking. One thing that could have been added to your discussion with Dr. Finkel was the ancients' understanding of dreams. How can an ancestor be gone forever if they can appear to you in a dream or in a drug induced vision quest? Both the Old and New Testament contain verses devoted to dreams, dream interpretation, visions and revelations.

I love Irving Finkel's work and presentations, and the interviewer'approach in letting him talk is nice. The onlt criticism I have is that he infers that the writer of the epic of Gilgamesh is writing fiction, i.e., he decided which type of boat to put in the story.

    In a word: fascinating.
With that said, I do have a few comments, if you don't mind.
My view has long been that you need to understand the times in order to look through the eyes of its people.
Cultural anthropology suggests (in toto) that all cultures enjoy a rich spiritual scenery. Belief structure is optional; definitions of belief and/or understanding are as varied as individual consciousness; but those beliefs shade or tint the window through which a citizen views his or her world.
Rediscovery of the recipes for certain shamanic or sorceric ingestibles (the various Somas, for instance) might well open our perspective, but I'll withhold judgement on these for the nonce. I do have some experience with recreational chemistry and have not yet discovered any preparations, chemicals, or substances that reveal "secrets above and below" beyond those which are readily available through more mundane sources.

Man years ago I walking home late at night through one of those small local single platform railway stations. It was November and a bit misty but not cold. Out of the mist came a cat, the same colour as th mist. I walked towards me and then passed me as if I wasn't there at all. My nerves tingled, but I was not afraid. I thought later it was strange that the cat ignored my presence, that is not normal cat behaviour. When I was a toddler we had a cat that fitted that description. We had him put down because he had either been in a road accident or attacked by rats in the local allotment. I often wonder if it was a ghost cat.

We don't have any non-fictional records of situations where three or four living people and a ghost have sat down in a comfortable, well lighted room and had a conversation - that never seems to have happened, and if ghosts have an independent, objective existence, it's something we would expect to be common. So what are ghosts? Eventually, we will know. Now, we don't - and it's ok to admit we don't know things.
Until we understand how the brain works at the cellular level, we won't know what's happening in someone's brain and nervous system when they are seeing a ghost. And we won't know how humans seem to be hard-wired to see these kinds of things until we have that deep understanding of the brain. It will be fascinating finding out how that works - but we will have to wait.
We don't even have the tools yet that we will need to understand the brain's functions at the cellular level. We just know that those apparent ghosts, aliens, demons or angels are real to those who see them, whatever the objective reality of those entities may be - but they are not real to other people in the same places at the same times who don't see them.

I ask this in great sincerity. Would you please get this smart man to come on his shows and talk about Kona form astrology not astronomy astrology. It seems like he's embarrassed to talk about that subject even though he's not embarrassed to talk about the reality of ghosts and magic? How can astrology not be being talked about? He should be talking about Venus Mercury. The mesopotamians were working with the Sun and the Moon and the planets they could see. I don't know why I'm not finding anything from him about their communications about eclipses which really affected them and they were very aware of. Please get him talking about this online for all of us to hear

Dr Finkel as a guest, kudos. Love his work and attitude. It's truly a shame that as mentioned the monotheistic religions (you know who you are!) are so hell bent on destroying, corrupting and perverting the truth in the name of power and control... Greek and Roman, hmm, overrated and so close to modern history, you got anything from the time of the 3 great kingdoms (Hittite, Assyrian and Egyptian)? Or maybe the annunaki type stuff, yeah I know that's still Mesopotamian, Egyptian and the Hittite lands but it's prehistoric... Thanks for the great interview. 🙋
