      Darian Perisic Yes I would absolutely recommend one for a first car. They are very reliable, easy to work on, and inexpensive to fix. You can pay someone to turbocharge it but they would have to be very experienced if you want to trust them, most of the work is pretty simple, you could pay someone to help with the harder parts like drilling the oil pan and tuning the ECU. Check out my video "How to Turbo Your Miata!" it may answer some questions.

      jcheeseman21 While I personally agree with you, not everyone turbos their own car though, plenty of people do bring it to a shop. If you have the money and maybe not the time or the skill, doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to enjoy a turbo Miata.

    Great stuff!
    I'm planning on forced induction at some point for my 1990, and you break down the process of getting there in easy steps very well. Your plan is pretty much what I'd had in mind anyway, but getting to see and hear about it in order (including doing the physical install of the various turbo pieces as discrete projects) helps a lot.

    Hey, I am 14 and I absolutely love cars. I been saving for my first car since I was 11 and have about $1300 now. I was deciding which car to get, and your channel has made me want a miata even more than I ever wanted one. That was the car I was originally thinking, but this channel pushed me further in that direction. When I finally get one, I will probably come back to these videos to help myself with it. Thank you so much for making this channel and I love your videos. I predict you will be over 100,000 subscribers by the time I turn 16 and am driving. Keep up the good work man!

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  9 років тому

      Skid Garage If you don't know the history of the maintenance, you should do a standard timing belt tune-up. Check out 949racing.com or good-win-racing.com for a kit. It consists of a timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, etc. Good idea to replace the accessory belts, spark plug wires, coolant and heater hoses, and o2 sensor if they are old as well. Fuel pump, another good thing to replace at very high mileage. I like to replace all of the things that could fail and leave me stranded, haha.It sounds like a lot but it's not too expensive, and nothing is really too hard to replace.

      ThatDudeBray Yes. The tuning of the car is just as important as that parts you're installing. It is possible to go turbo with the stock ECU, I just don't really recommend it. It's going to be expensive to turbocharge the car, why not spend a little extra and give yourself the proper tool to make it run awesome?

    Have a quick question the state you live in do you need emissions testing? I don't know as I'm not from America but in my country its pretty strict. Anyway I was wondering if I turbocharge my na 1.6 miata and get it tuned properly will the emissions be higher ?

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  9 років тому

      ***** I have a few friends that pass the sniffer test with their turbo Miatas. As long as you leave your emissions equipment in place, and have a good tune (possibly a separate tune taylored specifically to smog) you can get them to burn as clean or cleaner than stock. Whether adding a turbocharger is legal in your area, you will have to do your own research on that.

    Would you see hp gain with larger injectors and a megasquirt while still running NA? If so how much?

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  9 років тому

      +B000gnish No. Fuel injectors are a supporting modification. They need to just be big enough to support how much air the engine is flowing. If you have 260cc injectors, and they are hitting 50% duty cycle at redline, there's no sense in upsizing since they can still flow more fuel. If you were to install 520cc, they would just be at 25% duty at redline. Does that make sense?

    hey so overall is it worth it??? i know in broke and boosted your tricking the ecu.... im asking because i have a 96 intercooler m45 s/c runing 6-8 Psi mainly having idle problems... thinking about dual tb or ms to fix idle isssue... currently it has a msd boost timing controller and powercard pro fuel card.... it does it job with minor quirks they say if it aint broke dont fix u think ms would give me more reliability and fix my idle?

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  8 років тому +1

      Yes yes yes, MS is 100% worth the money (not even that expensive relative to an entire boosted build). It gives you complete control over everything and lets you do so much that you can't do on a stock-ECU setup.

      +Chris Marchi If you're planning on trying to get more power out of your n/a, I definitely recommend MS and a dyno tune. But just realize you're not going to see huge gains from it, I'd go for wheels/tires/suspension/brakes first.

      good thinking. already got the order from 5xracing to rebuild my NB's shifter assembly and regrease the turret. Still deciding between some 15x7 +20 or some 15X8's with either a 195/50 or 205/50 depending on the route i go. then saving for vmaxx's for spring 2016. love this channel man- in depth and detailed and helps me figure out my first naturally aspirated car

    Where can I find the magasquirt for a NC Miata?

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  3 роки тому

      You may want to look into the Motorsport Electronics ME442, they do a plug and play version for NC's

      @@TheCarPassionChannel I see they have a mark 3 which I believe is 2013 but I have a 2006.

      @@christinacardenas5656 Check out Fab9 Tuning's site, they have a lot of tuning options for all NC's; and the ME442 isn't listed as gen-specific so it may work

      +Dylan McElveen I'd go with the highest one you can afford, MS3 has the most features!

      +TheCarPassionChannel Do I have to mess with the wiring harness at all? I saw you could just plug your megasquirt, should mine plug in just as easy?

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  8 років тому

      Dylan McElveen There are a couple small wiring things but they're easy. See my install video as a reference guide. Once you plug in MS, you're ready to start tuning. Note that the ECU does not come "pre-tuned."
