Darian Perisic Yes I would absolutely recommend one for a first car. They are very reliable, easy to work on, and inexpensive to fix. You can pay someone to turbocharge it but they would have to be very experienced if you want to trust them, most of the work is pretty simple, you could pay someone to help with the harder parts like drilling the oil pan and tuning the ECU. Check out my video "How to Turbo Your Miata!" it may answer some questions.
jcheeseman21 While I personally agree with you, not everyone turbos their own car though, plenty of people do bring it to a shop. If you have the money and maybe not the time or the skill, doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to enjoy a turbo Miata.
Nobody has a good Megasquirt tuning series can't wait for these upcoming videos! could you discuss the differences in price & options between the v2, v3 boards?
Not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother for the last few months :)

Skid Garage If you don't know the history of the maintenance, you should do a standard timing belt tune-up. Check out 949racing.com or good-win-racing.com for a kit. It consists of a timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, etc. Good idea to replace the accessory belts, spark plug wires, coolant and heater hoses, and o2 sensor if they are old as well. Fuel pump, another good thing to replace at very high mileage. I like to replace all of the things that could fail and leave me stranded, haha.It sounds like a lot but it's not too expensive, and nothing is really too hard to replace.

***** I have a few friends that pass the sniffer test with their turbo Miatas. As long as you leave your emissions equipment in place, and have a good tune (possibly a separate tune taylored specifically to smog) you can get them to burn as clean or cleaner than stock. Whether adding a turbocharger is legal in your area, you will have to do your own research on that.

+B000gnish No. Fuel injectors are a supporting modification. They need to just be big enough to support how much air the engine is flowing. If you were to install 520cc, they would just be at 25% duty at redline. Does that make sense?

+Dylan McElveen I'd go with the highest one you can afford, MS3 has the most features!
+TheCarPassionChannel Do I have to mess with the wiring harness at all? I saw you could just plug your megasquirt, should mine plug in just as easy?
Dylan McElveen There are a couple small wiring things but they're easy. See my install video as a reference guide. Once you plug in MS, you're ready to start tuning. Note that the ECU does not come "pre-tuned."
