Thank you so much for this. My boss who has been a mentor for me told me about this parable. I’m in a transitionary period in my career from working a real job where I clock in and out and doing content creation part time.
Thank you so much for explaining these precious scriptures. You are the only person i know who dedicates his time to doing what you do. Superb teaching. I have learnt so much. Please don't stop. I've never been taught specific passages of the bible ever, not even in a bible study, and to be honest, every bible study I've done haven't a clue what they are teaching. I'm slowly unlearning things through what you are teaching. Thank you.
Indeed the servant with the one talent is not saved. He doesn't know God to begin with. He thinks the LORD is a hard man which is not true because as we know he is gracious and kind. He thinks that he reaps where he has not sown which again is not true because all good things come from God. The LORD is constantly sowing good things, whether of spiritual or physical nature. And this is how all works salvationists perceive God, as a hard or austere man and they are afraid of him just like this servant, fearing punishment. If you are saved by grace then you know God is not like that at all, but the absolute opposite. A loving Father, much more than any earthly father. They don't believe that though sadly. I also believe that the one talent is the gospel, which this servant did not receive in his heart but instead buried it because he didn't believe it can save.
you are right the third was afraid.........fear is from satan he said master was hard......not full of grace faith was not mentioned as his characteristic ---------not a believer. not saved
@lilie5111 Yes! John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Yes. He had a wrong understanding of God. Only people who God has given a new heart and a right spirit know Him personally. They know for instance that Jesus is full of grace and truth. They know also that Jesus is love and because love is kind and patient that Jesus is also kind and patient too!
@watchmansascha4764 However, you must consider the fact that stewardships are not given to the unsaved. Stewardships are only given to the SAVED. In the Parable of the Talents, the Master gives varying degrees of STEWARDSHIPS according to the abilities of his 3 servants hoping that they will put those stewardships into ACTION for PROFITABLE SERVICE. The first 2 were faithful and diligent who put their stewardships right away into action thereby resulting in PROFIT for their master resulting in the Master's commendation of them and then REWARDING them - Matthew 25:21, Matthew 25:23. This parable is conceptually parallel with James 2:14-26 in terms of profitable service in the faith and also conceptually parallel with the Parable of the 10 Minas in Luke 19:11-27 where the Master gave varying amounts of stewardships in the amount of money to his 3 servants where they were to put that money into ACTION for PROFITABLE SERVICE. Again, the Master commends his first 2 faithful and diligent servants for their SERVICE and then rewards them - Luke 19:16-17, Luke 19:18-19. The 1st was given the REWARD of ruling over 10 cities and the 2nd was given the REWARD of ruling over 5 cities. Luke 19: 16 -17 - “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has EARNED 10 MORE.’ ‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, TAKE CHARGE OF 10 CITIES. Luke 19: 18-19 - “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina HAS EARNED 5 MORE.’ “His master answered, ‘YOU TAKE CHARGE OF 5 CITIES.’ The 3rd servant was a LAZY, PROCRASTINATING SERVANT who did nothing with his stewardship, but decided to sweep it under the rug, so to speak, and was also afraid of putting his stewardship into ACTION, which later resulted in his Master's reprimand/tongue lashing and the LOSS OF REWARD, BUT this does not mean the 3rd servant was unsaved. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 makes it very clear that there are saved Christians in this earthly life that are diligent, hard working, and faithful in their service in this life which will result in REWARD, but there will also be many saved Christians in this earthly life that are LAZY, PROCRASTINATING servants who do nothing with their talents/stewardships by not putting those abilities into ACTION for PROFITABLE SERVICE, but they are still saved. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 - Christians in this life who lived faithfully, obediently, and wisely are in essence building a "house" made of gold, silver, and precious stones which are materials that will stand up to Christ's fiery scrutiny and remain intact and standing resulting in commendation and eternal rewards. Christians in this life who lived unfaithfully, disobediently, carnally, etc, are in essence building a "house" made of wood, hay, and stubble which are materials that will not stand up to Christ's fiery scrutiny and will end up falling apart and collapsing, but they are still saved. Their flimsy "house" is destroyed resulting in loss of eternal rewards, BUT they are still saved and in heaven - 1 Corinthians 3:15. There is a parallel between 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 and Matthew 7:24-27 where 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 explains Matthew 7:24-27. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 - 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work ABIDE which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a REWARD.(Note: The word "reward" is NOT referring to the free gift of eternal life, but is referring to an ETERNAL REWARD that is earned by our performance here on earth) 15 If any man's work shall be BURNED, he shall suffer LOSS :BUT HE HIMSELF SHALL BE SAVED; yet so as by fire. I hope this helps to clarify, God bless!
Brother Onorato!! You made the video! Thanks bro, so happy . God bless as always. Faithful subscriber Too many of times do I hear Lordship Salvation ppl use this argument to make it seem its a salivation of faith + works viewpoint on this parable.
I have a prayer request, family. Can you please pray for my father and stepmother? They have strayed so far from God. They go to pagan rituals. My stepmother is in a witch coven. They talk to familiar spirits, which we who are the body of Christ, know are demons. They are influenced to the point of introducing another person into their marriage. So, they have a polyamorous relationship that is confusing and painful to me. It's disgusting in God's eyes and our eyes. Please pray that the demonic strongholds come crashing down. Pray that they may know Jesus Christ and that they may be set free. Thank you. God bless.
When I was in middle school, I was really shy and didn't want to do the geography bee in front of the whole school and purposefully botched the semifinals. My dad pulled me aside and had a very deep discussion about this parable and how God had given me the gift to do well in geography and purposefully hiding that away would be equivalent to the servant with one talent. This parable applies to any gift God has given us, whether that is a spiritual gift or a more temporal one.
Yes and the key is verse 29 where in Matthew 13:11-13 is a reference to an unsaved individual that is not given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven
As a New Christian, someone who has found Jesus Christ and totally believe he is real and know what he did for me and everyone I know he is the Truth and have total Faith in Him. I read my New Testament, read and try to understand his words and apply them in how i live and try as best as i can to live like him and Love people like he did. Being a sinner I know I can never attain perfection and i struggle, in that I am continually assessing myself in how I am. As far as I believe i am Saved, my Genuine heart felt call i made to Jesus could not have been any more sincere and I feel different. My mind, which i feel is my left side, has gone silent, the mind chatter and my right side feels like im waiting for something, my conciousness feels like its shifted to the right I feel very different and it seems to be getting stronger, its kind of weird. Parables like this confuse me and I feel, should I be doing more, its been 3 months since I opened my Heart to Jesus Christ, i guess i feel like God will guide me and im waiting. This is how it is for me right now and I only want to do what is right, for others, for myself and most importantly for GOD......thankyou for this channel, i trust in your words and it helps me understand things when GOD's words seem too hard for me right now to understand. GOD Bless Everyone, may all open their Hearts to Jesus Christ those who need him most, i pray you all find him and he Delivers you to our Father.
God bless you dear teacher and all of you 19¶a question: Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury: 20Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it. Why does Jesus give a parable about somthing that his father dosn't permit?
A talent is a weight of gold or silver, about 75 pounds. It is currency. What is the closest thing to "currency" that God has? It's faith. Any genuine good work worthy of reward is a working of God in us, by faith. We exercise faith, and it is increased. Many are busy digging a hole, trying to bury the gospel they've heard but don't believe. It would be better for them to have even a little faith, even if they put it "in the bank."
I just read in another comment on another channel. This parable was used as use your gifts God gave you. He helps those who help themselves . I knew in my spirit this was incorrect, I never read in the bible God helps those who helps themselves. In fact I read the opposite Jesus is the vine we are the branches without Him we can do nothing, Not depending on ourselves but depending on Jesus our everything. Please correct me if I’m in error
Help the poor, serve in your church and serve others, share the gospel, and follow the commandments with the most important being loving God with all your heart soul and mind. With the second loving your neighbor as yourself. Surrender your life to God as in seek to serve His kingdom as much as you can. Be faithful even unto to death. That makes you profitable.
Amen, it makes more sense that the slothful worker was never a believer. If not I could just save one person, say ok I've doubled my one talent now I'm saved and God owes me heaven.
@@cats4603 I thought so too but it just didn't add up. Thats like saying how many works do I need to do till I can earn salvation or how many people do I need to save till I can earn heaven? We all know heaven and salvation doesn't have a price tag, we cannot buy it and God doesn't owe us it because of our acts. No one is going to enter heaven with an attitude of entitlement, like they are getting a due that is owed to them for their works.

@@cats4603 They skew the ''even demons believe'' passage. Belief in isnt enough, there are people who believe in God but think He is immoral, so they reject and refuse to worship Him. We are saved because not only do we believe in Him, but we also put our faith and trust in Him. Demons don't put their faith and trust in Jesus, also in order to be saved one must be born again, born of water and spirit. Water symbolizing the first birth, the womb, and spirit symbolizing the rebirth, being baptized in the Holy Spirit by believing into and receiving Jesus Christ, demons aren't born of a womb so they can't be born again and cannot be saved.
I still believe the last servant was a believer, He did just get a reward due to being unprofitable. Outer darkness is not hell but being outside of the marriage banquet before the millennium rule.Outer darkness and gnashing of teeth symbolises great grief. Those who will rule with Christ are the one who will be ruler of many, which are different cities in the millennium. The unprofitable servant will still be saved yet so by fire,he wont rule during the millennium reign I stand to be corrected
no need to read my looooong comment lol, just this The servant was never saved to begin with, see how he said to him "Thou wicked and slothful servant" If he had Faith in Christ, his sins would be blotted out, he'd be justified of all his sins, past and >future sins< Colossians 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: 1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

@@abysses7996That is a scary warning passage almost sounds bad. Needs some next level Berean type studying, maybe contextual. I'm going to look into that one bro. Good eye!
I have been watching these videos and I am becoming persuaded by faith alone. However im not so convinced about this particular video. If the servant with the one talent never had faith, then how do we determine the servants with five and two talents had faith if works is not necessary. As far as I can see the only way to distinguish between the believeing servants and non believing servant in this parable is by works?
Maybe these two scenarios help a little. (1) Someone believed in vain, his superficial faith does not produce good works (1Cor 15:2), this person was never saved. (2) Someone is saved, but his/her faith does not produce good works because that person stopped growing spiritually (2Pet 1:9). Salvation is by faith. But the saved has free will, and scenario 2 can happen, where faith does not produce good works (Eph 4:30, 1Thess 5:19).
He explained it. They are saved by fire (1 Corinthians 3:15). Only the Lord knows the hearts of men, and He alone knows who is saved. Those that have believed are saved, but certainly can fall back into the world. There’s a dual nature in every believer (Romans 7:18-24).
The talents represent the ability to understand God's Word through the Holy Ghost. The one with the 5 talents understands the Word with greater ease and thus gains more faith as time passes. The one with only one talent cannot understand the Word and loses faith. Why did Jesus speak in parables? Jesus speaks in parables so that only God's chosen elect will be able to understand. Matt: 13:10-13 explains Matt 25:14-30.
Christ contrasts the commendation of believers who serve the Lord faithfully and receive a reward with the condemnation of the unbeliever, who loses both entrance into the kingdom (by faith alone) and reward in eternity. All believers should yearn to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
@@OnoDiamantewhat kind of things does God want us to do that constitutes as serving Him faithfully? I feel like I’m just coasting in my life occasionally trying to share the gospel with family, and even more rarely, others, but I believe on Jesus, and I love others so at the very least I’m following what He commanded. Jesus called them all servants though! That to me presents a difficulty with saying he was never saved as Jesus gives him a talent just as he gave talents to the other two. There are other free grace interpretations for this one, but not sure which one to support.
@krisjustin3884 Good comment! The problem today is that not all Free Grace believers are on the same page regarding the Parable of the Talents which is also conceptually parallel with the Parable of the 10 Minas in Luke 19:11-27. Was also thinking that he’s speaking to the nation of Israel: some went out and proclaimed the good news, while the nation as a whole did nothing about the treasured messiah who came to be among them. Then when he returns after 2000 years, the lazy servants in Israel could possibly be seen as unsaved as they never believed in him. Still, I prefer your take on it. Thanks again.
@@krisjustin3884 You're welcome! Of course, many of the works based salvationists, especially Lordship Salvation people will no doubt conclude and write off Christians who are unprofitable as "unsaved" without ever taking into account that there are many saved Christians who fall into periods of crisis, depression, death of a dearly loved one, physical or mental trauma, substance abuse, alcohol problems, disease, divorce, financial crisis, lawsuits, etc, and it is during those times that these Christians will be unprofitable. These times of crisis could last for months or even years. There are unprofitable Christians that are by nature very shy and reserved, introverted, and have extreme social anxiety which can contribute to their being unprofitable, BUT they are still saved.
@@krisjustin3884 I also wanted to make a post regarding the expressions "outer darkness" and "weeping and gnashing of teeth" in the context of the Parable of the Talents. These 2 phrases no doubt appear in other Scriptural contexts where in some contexts it refers to the reaction of UNSAVED people cast into hell, whereas in other contexts, it refers to SAVED people who have the same reaction, BUT in a TEMPORARY sense due to their being sharply reprimanded/tongue lashed by the Lord for their laziness and unfaithfulness where they lose out on ETERNAL REWARDS that that they otherwise could have been entitled to, but they are still saved.
@@krisjustin3884 The concept of "outer darkness" and "weeping and gnashing of teeth" is debated among many in the Free Grace camp and one that not all Free Grace Christians agree upon. I know that these 2 expressions have no doubt caused unending confusion, fear, and anxiety for many saved Christians and these 2 expressions will no doubt be perverted by all false teachers that are works based, especially Lordship Salvation preachers who will falsely teach that these 2 expressions are referring to hell. These 2 expressions appear in some of the parables of Jesus and other passages, but it is best to look at them in the right context and to determine what they really mean in each context. Weeping and gnashing of teeth is a common outward Eastern expression of grief and regret over the loss of something - death of a dearly loved one, etc. Here in the West, these expressions are considered unthinkable and discouraged because the media and those with a macho mentality teach that weeping, gnashing of teeth are signs of weakness and being a wimp as many perceive "outer darkness" and "weeping and gnashing of teeth" as inconceivable for saved Christians. These expressions are not always expressions of contempt at God. It depends on the context and what it means in each context. The "weeping and gnashing of teeth" and "outer darkness" is not a reference to hell or the Lake of Fire. ONLY the expression "FIERY FURNACE" is a reference to the Lake of Fire. The "outer darkness" is an area within the Kingdom of God where unfaithful, disobedient, and carnal Christians in this life will be banished to and excluded from special joys and privileges that they otherwise could have been entitled to, but they are still saved. The context of 1 Corinthians 3:15 verifies this.
Hi @onodiamante I see a discrepancy between the explanation of this parable and the one about the soils. If the man with one talent wasn’t saved neither were the other soils. Both parables end saying “whosever has more shall be given, those that don’t have what little they think they have shall be taken away” just because the other soils “believed” for a while or a minute doesn’t mean they BELIEVED unto life, not based on works but their belief wasn’t a born again belief, for example other religions believe in Jesus but are not IN Christ. James says even the devil believes and trembles, but that doesn’t mean belief unto salvation James 2:19 The man with the one talent was given a measure of belief but did not embrace it, just like the other soils
@@marcgotcalledout4058 it is not about the quantity of belief, it is about the quality of Belief. “Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.” John 4:48 KJV “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:39 KJV “being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” Romans 3:24 KJV This I Believe 🙌🏼

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work ABIDE which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a REWARD.(Note: The word "reward" is NOT referring to the free gift of eternal life, but is referring to an ETERNAL REWARD that is earned by our performance here on earth)
15 If any man's work shall be BURNED, he shall suffer LOSS :BUT HE HIMSELF SHALL BE SAVED; yet so as by fire.

Too many of times do I hear Lordship Salvation ppl use this argument to make it seem its a salivation of faith + works viewpoint on this parable.

I was thinking of this parble this morning. And then you drop this video.
Thanks again brother for another great explanation of God's Word. You're truly a blessing!
Comparing this to Matthew 7 really opened my understanding to this passage 🙏
I’ve heard someone use this to say you can lose your salvation, but I agree with you - never saved in the first place. #osas Blessings, Ono😊

Yes and the key is verse 29 where in Matthew 13:11-13 is a reference to an unsaved individual that is not given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven
AMEN 🙏 I'VE ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT THIS PARABLE WAS TALKING ABOUT 💯...BY GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE, IN CHRIST ALONE 💖
I have been taught and sermonized those verses many times but not like the way you explained them. Thank you so much
Every time i hear this parable i feel called out, because i never did any work for the church. I hope im not in that situation.
Thank you!
Please continue to break down parables ✝️🙏🏽🙏🏽

A talent is a weight of gold or silver, about 75 pounds. It is currency. What is the closest thing to "currency" that God has? It's faith.
Any genuine good work worthy of reward is a working of God in us, by faith. We exercise faith, and it is increased.
Many are busy digging a hole, trying to bury the gospel they've heard but don't believe. It would be better for them to have even a little faith, even if they put it "in the bank."
Can talents apply to physical talents like drawing ,singing ,etc?
I just read in another comment on another channel. This parable was used as use your gifts God gave you. He helps those who help themselves . I knew in my spirit this was incorrect, I never read in the bible God helps those who helps themselves. In fact I read the opposite Jesus is the vine we are the branches without Him we can do nothing,
Not depending on ourselves but depending on Jesus our everything.

Literally soooo simple ❤
So, how do we become a "profitable servant?" I kinda always just assumed this verse was about sharing the Gospel.
Mathew 15:24
But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
@@cats4603 faith without works is dead but Dead Faith is merely unprofitable, not condemnable

@@cats4603 Show them the context
the verse is :
"Thou believest that there is one God, thou doest well, even the demons believe and tremble"
It doesn't mean "even the demons believe so we gotta do more than believe"
It simple states that even the demons believe that there is One God and tremble
The unprofitable servant will still be saved yet so by fire,he wont rule during the millennium reign
I stand to be corrected
So is it the same thing with the Parable of the Faithful Servant? If that servant was rather unfaithful, he was never saved to begin with?

no need to read my looooong comment lol, just this

see how he said to him "Thou wicked and slothful servant"

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Rewards will be according to works, but salvation is not
What about people who say they are saved but do no works. Does that mean they are false Christians? They are not multiplying their talents!
He explained it. They are saved by fire (1 Corinthians 3:15). Only the Lord knows the hearts of men, and He alone knows who is saved. Those that have believed are saved, but certainly can fall back into the world. There’s a dual nature in every believer (Romans 7:18-24).
Can you do the ten virgins and the lamps?

The talents represent the ability to understand God's Word through the Holy Ghost. The one with the 5 talents understands the Word with greater ease and thus gains more faith as time passes. The one with only one talent cannot understand the Word and loses faith. Why did Jesus speak in parables? Jesus speaks in parables so that only God's chosen elect will be able to understand. Matt: 13:10-13 explains Matt 25:14-30.
I had difficulties to understand it, can someone pls explain this to me? God bless all your souls
Jesus called them all servants though! That to me presents a difficulty with saying he was never saved as Jesus gives him a talent just as he gave talents to the other two. There are other free grace interpretations for this one, but not sure which one to support.
@krisjustin3884 Good comment! The problem today is that not all Free Grace believers are on the same page regarding the Parable of the Talents which is also conceptually parallel with the Parable of the 10 Minas in Luke 19:11-27. We must all consider the fact that stewardships are not given to the unsaved.
Luke 19: 18-19 - “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina HAS EARNED 5 MORE.’ “His master answered, ‘YOU TAKE CHARGE OF 5 CITIES.’
The 3rd servant was a LAZY, PROCRASTINATING SERVANT who did nothing with his stewardship, but decided to sweep it under the rug, so to speak, and was also afraid of putting his stewardship into ACTION, which later resulted in his Master's reprimand/tongue lashing and the LOSS OF REWARD, BUT this does not mean the 3rd servant was unsaved.
In regards to 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, Christians in this life who lived faithfully, obediently, and wisely are in essence building a "house" made of gold, silver, and precious stones which are materials that will stand up to Christ's fiery scrutiny and remain intact and standing resulting in commendation and eternal rewards.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work ABIDE which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a REWARD.
(Note: The word "reward" is NOT referring to the free gift of eternal life, but is referring to an ETERNAL REWARD that is earned by our performance here on earth) 15 If any man's work shall be BURNED, he shall suffer LOSS :BUT HE HIMSELF SHALL BE SAVED; yet so as by fire.
Hope this helps, God bless!
@@wtom04 That makes much more sense! Really appreciate your time and detail put into this answer.

Hi @onodiamante
I see a discrepancy between the explanation of this parable and the one about the soils. James says even the devil believes and trembles, but that doesn’t mean belief unto salvation James 2:19
The man with the one talent was given a measure of belief but did not embrace it, just like the other soils
