I was a listener of Steven Anderson for a long time, and when he really started pushing this bad doctrine it was very confusing! It made me think “huh, did I say a prayer when I got saved? I don’t remember.” It confused me so bad that I prayed to Jesus and said I believed, but that wasn’t a righteous thing to do it was a very weak thing to do! And I still think about how weak my faith was when I did that. Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is enough, and Himself made it so clear to us in John 3:16. I hope this comment may comfort some who may have also been thrown off by this doctrine. God bless!

Unfortunately I fell for that weakness as well. I do think Steven Anderson is a saved man and have heard him preach great sermons on faith alone, but he is in error in this thing (and some others). I know that I'm saved. The spirit of God has confirmed this fact with my spirit. So when I hear people say, "yeah, salvation is a gift but you can blah blah blah and maybe you were never saved or you can lose your salvation". If you can lose it you would have lost it. That would make the gospel the worst news ever. I fear that most church attenders that call themselves Christians are not born again. That's probably the truth.

In my case I was a lukewarm Catholic, I sinned a lot and did new age occultic practices. It ruined my life and now I live in a psychiatrist hospital. I opened spiritual doors and got attacked by demons. The worst kind of attack was being raped in the dream and feeling them spiritually laying near or over me in the bed as I woke up from sleep. I went to confession, repented, prayed daily and watched deliverence videos on UA-cam. I also pray in my dreams with the apostle creed and praying to archangel Michael to save me. And it helped a lot, as the prayers drive away the demons in my dreams and rebuke them in the name of Jesus.
Despite being lukewarm Catholic back then I saw the holy spirit come and fight for me from evil influences at the court room. They wanted to sentence me harcher for my crime i committed when I lost my mind by being possessed. Seeing the holy spirit was the moment I was reborn again and became a genuine believer. Two years has gone by since then I am doing much better, I still get attacked but my faith is firm and strong. If someone like me is saved then I find it hard the idea of not being saved really or the idea that you can lose salvation. I still struggle with some venial sins. The very least I have managed to quit pornography and masturbation. I still get dirty thought but they disgust me so they are surely come from a demons and are not my own thoughts.

I can’t tell you how many people have told me “we are saved by believing, but you misunderstand what it means to believe.”
I’m not misunderstanding anything, it’s them that don’t understand it, because they have to radically redefine the term to mean “work.” The thief on the cross was saved by simply believing, and the same is true for us. Hallelujah!

    • @pigsfood27
      @pigsfood27 7 місяців тому +6

The Catholic's response to the thief on the cross is that God made an exception to the rule. When they say that, they are essentially arguing for dispensationalism, a creation of Protestant theology, ironically. Dispensationalism is the theory that God offers salvation differently to different people across different points in history. The only thing that would be close to that as far as I can tell is that old covenant Jews were told to atone for their sins, while under the new covenant people are not told to atone for their sins but to believe in the one who atoned for them who is Christ.

Jesus is trustworthy. When you believe in Him for salvation, He handles all necessary arrangements. He already made full payment by His death on the cross. He wants you to go to heaven and to not go to hell. You don’t have to worry if you are “believing the right way”, or if you have “head faith instead of heart faith”. Jesus isn’t confused about what you are wanting, and He wants you to be saved more than you do.
There are no tricks. There is no fine print, because there is no contract, only a promise made by an infinitely holy God.

I've seen pastors that tell you that you may think you believe, but you might not....creating lots of anxiety in my mind. How would you know that you really do? When I first believed, God ran me through the 10 Commandments and showed me all the ways I failed to keep them, and like the woman at the well, I had faith I had encountered the Christ, and went forth with joy and a heart desiring to share the Good News. Enter church teachings and religion and fast-forward 17 years, and here I am watching this video trying to get out from under the additions of the church that throw me into doubt and confusion and fear where I find myself saying the sinner's prayer over and over whenever it is presented me, anxiously hoping maybe this time I'll actually believe from my heart and be saved because I don't measure up🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm exhausted with the lies woven into the truth, and feel like an old wineskin with new wineskin sewn on and I'm about to burst! The debate between once saved always saved and losing my salvation when i commit my next sin about drove me to a loony bin. At this moment in time i rest in the promise of Jesus and yes when i look at my past is is a hard grind. But Jesus lived a life i could never live. He was crucified by evil men and shed his blood on that cross to pay my sin debt. It is almost to good to be true. But at the end of the day it is the only hope i have. And by the way i am not molesting children robbing people and other wicked acts. God disciplines his children .Sometimes rather harshly. Romans 4 defined belief the best for me. :)
20He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
What does it mean to believe? To be fully persuaded that what God promised (that He will save you) He is also able to perform.
To be fully persuaded means you believe it is true!

To be clear - this question is not a forum for debate, I am simply seeking clarification - at the 6:07-09 mark you said, "..no prayer no CONFESSION WITH THE MOUTH..." and then at the 7:29-32 mark you said, "..even to them that CONFESS WITH THEIR MOUTH , No..." .. again, I am not debating - when you said that, I immediately thought about Romans 10:9 "...that if you CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved..." - Help me to reconcile the two, please. thank you

In a short answer, Romans chapters 9-11 is a parenthesis about Israel. Romans 10:9 is about physical salvation because judgement was about to happen to Israel(as a nation), which happened in 70AD. Notice also Acts 2:21 the similar language, and the context in Acts 2 was about Israel making the mistake of denying Christ, therefore judgement would follow.
While the texts in Matthew 24:15-28, Mark 13:14-26 and Luke 21:20-24 are similar. In Matthew and Mark is talking about future events, while in Luke 21:20-24 refers to the invasion of Jerusalem by the Roman empire in 70AD.
Also, in Romans 10:9, notice how it does NOT mention Jesus death(shed blood) for our sins, which is crucial we believe in for eternal salvation.
I suggest you at least read again Romans chapters 9-11 for a better picture in context. The expression used in Romans 10:9 is familiar to Israel in the past also, Psa 55:16, Psa 116:13, Joel 2:32.

You are firmly entrenched in the word " faith " . What specifically does your faith entail ? Like , what are it's component? What does it look like to an observer or potential convert ? Other than telling someone that you have faith , would they be able to see it themselves ? Also , I'm new to your channel but I haven't heard you speak of obedience. Does that have a place in your faith position ? These are all aspects of faith I believe people need to know about .

I have a question. I believe fully that it is Jesus who saves through faith alone. Jesus taught about forgiveness by saying that if we don’t forgive, God won’t forgive us. If we look at our forgiveness in any level for salvation, is that based on works? I think everyone struggles to forgive at times, but when I look at how Christ forgave me it makes it easier to forgive others. My question is, how does forgiveness of others and faith alone correspond? I know there is a good answer, but I am unlearning a lot of false doctrine so it’s hard for me to not dig deep on this.

    Eph 2:8-9, Gal 2:16, Rom 3:24-28, Rom 4:5-8, Titus 3:5.
Rom 10 is to the Jews "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved."
They had to do a work "CONFESS BY MOUTH" as well as believe.
Rom 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
That CONFESS BY MOUTH requirement is not for you/I.

Honest question: so if you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ you will automatically call upon him? Or you HAVE automatically called upon him? That's what Romans 10:14 seems to suggest.
    1) Joe Believer believes on Jesus Christ
    2) Joe Believer is spiritually regenerated(because he believed)
    3) Joe Believer calls upon the name of the Lord.
It seems to me that verse 14 says 2) can't happen without 1) AND 3) can't happen without 2) AND 3) WILL happen unconditionally If and only if 2) happens.
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

I notice that you neither define what it is nor what it is not.
So, if salvation occurs in the moment of faith, which it does, why does calling upon the name of the Lord happen right after that(which Romans 10:14 seems to imply). And why does it appear to happen automatically?
Calling upon the name of the Lord appears as far back as Gen 4:26. So it has some significance. If so, what is that significance if it’s not believing?

@@hardsayings2400 Calling upon the name of the Lord is an activity indicative of the believer. Throughout scripture, we consistently witness BELIEVERS calling upon God to worship, ask for deliverance, give thanks, etc. It’s certainly NOT the way in which you believe the Gospel. It’s significant because God desires our prayers and petitions. Every child of God should take full advantage of their ability to call upon their Father.

It is true that salvation is by faith or believing in Jesus Christ. All who met the Lord Jesus Christ or those who preached after him and believed were saved in that glorious moment. But what were their lives like after that ? They were changed lives. They began to LIVE for him. There was a CHRIST LIKE LIFE that followed. What you dont seem to understand Ornato is that people have an initial religious meeting or moment when They confess faith in God but they continue living the same. Its just a sunday and Wednesday thing. They dont go on to the next work of grace which is sanctification followed by the new birth or baptism of the Holy Spirit. Notice i said "work of grace". The natural is a type of the spiritual. There's conception, growth in the womb of the chur h, the new birth then growth to the stature of a perfect man. Ephesians 4 , 1 Peter 1: 1-9. KJV. Add to your faith virtue and to virtue knowledge...

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
    2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Calling on the name of the Lord, Crying out to God, and praying to God for deliverance/salvation/rescue is all throughout the Bible and is done by those who are already saved and are asking God for some kind of help in their time of distress. Believers call upon the Lord after they are saved from the penalty of sin, given new life and the new birth as God's children who are asking their eternal Father for assistance.

    Amplified:
But he answered, No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent (change their minds for the better and heartily amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins).
He said to him, If they do not hear and listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded and convinced and believe [even] if someone should rise from the dead.

I get what you’re saying, but there is scripture that says pretty clearly that there is a responsibility that you will be led to do if you’re truly saved. One of my preachers that I watch frequently was saved after calling on the name of the Lord….he basically said, “God, I don’t want to go to HELL.” From there he was able to defeat addictions and soon gave his life to ministry. I cautiously agree calling on the name of the Lord in itself doesn’t save you, but it does offer the way to be saved. I kind of wish you would’ve touched on that a little more.

The only way to be saved is through simple faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Someone may have said something when they believed on Christ, but that’s not why they are saved. We can’t afford to confuse that which is reasonable with that which is required. ua-cam.com/video/DKgCTltuWGM/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

gospel comment- Jesus died and rose agian if you believe that he died and rose and were saved by grace through faith alone you will be saved. Once Saved Always saved no need to repent from your sins for salvation.

You can only call if you already know the number. Faith precedes calling and John 3:16 tells us that whosoever believes (has faith), shall not perish but have everlasting life.

You talked about Acts 8:37 at 1:19 in the video. Sure sounds like Romans 10:10 to me!
Acts 8:37, 1st sentence: if thou believest with all thine heart.
Romans 10:10: For with the heart man believeth unto righeousness.
Acts 8:37: The eunuch confessed with his mouth "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God,"
Romans 10:10 (the last part of the verse): "With the mouth confession is made unto salvation".
Sure sounds like the Ethiopian eunuch did Romans 10:10. You have not experienced the new birth, that is why you do not understand the word of God.

All you gotta do is believe!
I prayed out of frustration and desperation "Oh God, if you won't save me, just send me to hell now so I don't get to live in sin anymore". But that was straight from the heart, I wasn't even thinking what I was saying. Everyone is different, some read a scripture and the Holy Spirit hits them with it. Some get saved listening to a preacher, some driving a car. You just have to trust yourself to Christ completely, he already did all the work. Stop trying to make yourself more presentable, just come to him with all your filth, and say, here I am, a dirty sinner, wash me because I can't do it. He'll do it. Or say nothing and trust him to do it, he'll still do it. He died for you, there's no prayer that can add to it.

"Believing in" is precisely defined in John 8:30 - A condition, and an IMMEDIATE condition, of the mind only. Plus, the Bible says to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (John 10:9, John 14:6), not to believe on the Church/religion, as Jesus is not a church or a religion.

SAVED BY GRACE via FAITH so that no one can boast. if you claim that YOU did something for YOUR salvation beyond faith, then your faith is both in yourself and in Christ.

He is misunderstanding what a pastor means by inviting people to accept christ. The pastor does not think that coming forward or some magic words will make them believe. They know that faith comes by hearing the word of god. Jesus also called people out publicly and asked them to step forward and separate themselves from the crowd like his disciples. This is a matter of putting your faith into action, Not the Occurrence of faith in the first place. I don't know where he got this idea. But he is misunderstood the intention or as heard.People who make a big deal about people coming forward.

Acts 2:21...And it shall come to pass that whosoever shal call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:13...For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
    Romans 10:10...
"For with the heart man BELIEVETH unto righteousness; AND with the mouth CONFESSION is made UNTO salvation."
The eunuch confessed with his mouth.
So, is it confession unto salvtion (Acts 2:21 & Romans 10:13, the thief on the cross), or is it belief unto salvation (Acts 16:31 & John 3:16, 36, et. al.)?
It appears there might be a contradiction or two concerning how soneone obtains biblical salvation.
Of course there are no contradictions, and it's obvious that according to the scriptures one must believe AND ask! Jesus said to the woman at the well, "If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, THOU WOULDEST HAVE ASKED of him, and he would have given thee living water."
So the woman first had to have known the gift of God, then she would've believed that he would give her that gift, but only after she asked for it! That's exactly what Jesus himself said!
That's not a New IFB doctrine, that's biblical doctrine.
Romans 10:9..."That if thou shalt CONFESS with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, AND shalt BELIEVE in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Onorato is wrong. May God be true and every man a liar.
