- Finally, a Celtic song that I actually have finished working on!
I hope you enjoyed it. I made up the arrangement by ear so there is no music for it. Also it is copied from the arrangement by Eve Goodman which you can listen to here: • Eve Goodman - Dacw 'Ng...

Song: Dacw 'Nghariad
Collection: Celtic Cry
Me, an Australian: loves this song
Sings this song to myself regularly
Has children
Sings it to children
Children love it
They grow up to learn Welsh
Realise I have no idea what I’m singing
I learnt Welsh before English and I’ve no idea.
Welsh is so beautiful! I love that Tolkien was inspired by the Welsh language to create the Elvish Quenya.
Me too! Thank you for listening.
I think I listened to this one of yours before, but oh my goodness I forgot it was so beautiful. Gives me chills listening!
Thank you so much!
Pronunciation is off but good attempt
Yeah, I know it's off. I recorded this soon after I had first started learning Welsh and my pronunciation was not very good at the time. Looking back, I wish I could have done a better job, but oh well. Glad you enjoyed!
Gwynnedd o'Cymru My respect for learning Welsh. It's a beautiful song.
Oh my God. That was beautiful. Crying.
Hello! Thanks so much for the input earlier on The Editing Bard's live stream! This is so ironic, I know of this song, I first heard Eve Goodman's arrangement around three years ago. Without giving too much away, I also want to say that I plan to use some classic/ancient Welsh music references in my book. I'm not entirely sure about this one, though.
You're welcome! And yes, that's awesome!
@@thedancingbardess Also, I subbed. I need more music in my life...
Thank you! I hope you enjoy!!
This is truly beautiful, i used to learn a bit of welsh on my own a few years ago, and i hope to learn it again one day.
Best regards from France
Thank you so much! It's a very beautiful, poetic language.
its very good my friend.I love it
Thank you!
I sang the English and Welsh and I've got to say the Welsh is way easier 👍🏼
I've never thought to sing it in English. But I can imagine how difficult that would be!
I love it Chey!!!
Thanks so much, Sary!
Or I should say... Diolch yn fawr!
this is amazing!
Thank you!
Its an amazing song
gonna use it to start learning Welsh xD
Edit: Btw, are "Tw rym di ro rym di radl didl dal" and "Ffaldi radl didl dal, ffaldi radl didl da" phrases?
No, they are just nonsense. Many lullabies in various languages have such sounds just for the song that have no meaning.
@@thedancingbardess O, got it, thank you :)
This the first song I showed and poorly sang along to to my girlfriend when we started dating
My ancestors are smiling down on me ;)
Beautiful
Thank you!
well done :)
Diolch!
You did a great job with this. The song is beautiful. However, I think your pronunciation is a bit off, though I could be wrong.
Thank you! Yes, my pronunciation is little bit off with a couple words. Maybe sometime in the future I will do another recording with the correct pronunciation. Glad you enjoyed!
A fantastically beautiful Welsh song, so why does a Welsh song need celticifying?
Cue a younger me trying to make certain to potential listeners that I tried to make it as Celtic as I could.
Nice song but I wonder why you didn't bother with pronunciation... It really hurts my ears. You just had to listen to Eve Goodman's version and to imitate her pronunciation. There are also spelling mistakes...
Yes, my apologies. I had recorded this when I had first started learning Welsh and have not since recorded a more accurate pronunciation. What spelling mistakes are there? I'm afraid I wasn't aware of them at the time this video was uploaded, but should I rerecord it, I would like to know to be able to fix.
@@thedancingbardess No pb!
dra serchog > should be arserchog (might be ardd-serchog?). Eve Goodman definitely pronounces it as if spelt "arserchog".
dan ei chysgod > yn ei chysgod
Nes daw 'nghariad daw fy 'nghariad > nes daw 'nghariad i 'nghyfarfod
Diolch :-)
@@gerald4013 Diolch yn fawr!
