DAYUUUM!!! REK. a true amreican treasure,so many wonderfully crafted songs.i've seen him live several times,he never disappoints.he even gives some sound biscuit eating advice.
This song actually takes place in a small Texas town called Bandera, Texas. Another famous song based on Bandera, is called My Hometown by famous red dirt singer Charlie Robison. Keen did live in Bandera for awhile but ended up relocating to Kerrville, Texas.
I agree with Beth Flanders that this truly could be one of Mr. Keen's finest tunes... I've been familiar with him since Aggie Days of the late seventies when, then, as a struggling little band where one of the first gigs was 'Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall', downtown Cat Spring, Texas. I was a member of the Society and there for the 'orKEStra' (as all bands were described by the good, old German folks who made up the society). If you look at the CD Cover of No Kind'a Dancer there's a pencil sketch of the country dance hall which, I think, was at least an inspiration for him to write, "I tried to tell you I was no kind'a dancer..."As for the song, "Feelin' Good Again"; anyone who's ever stood downtown on old Main Street, Bandera TX and strolled across, you'd have walked down 'a flight of stairs' into Mr. Blue's... Arkie Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon - still the coldest beer and biggest dang fireplace you ever saw. I'd have written songs about it if I could write songs! Thanks REK, Jr. & his fans for keeping Texas singer/songwriter music alive!JWM
I hear ya, I'm the same way. No matter my mood, folks around me or anything. As soon as music starts my ass starts moving left to right quickly moving up and down. My foot starts in time in 15 -20 seconds I'm boogying like no one else is around. I have a feeling though, at the Southern Living Room restrictions were in place. That being said they would have quickly removed me
That is true of so many of his songs. He is a master at painting mental pictures with the simplest of words. He puts a feeling behind them that nobody else seems to be able to. As far as I'm concerned, he's the greatest lyrical storyteller ever.
No doubt... they don't have a clue. BUT... what a great opportunity to turn on a few people to some really good music. Perhaps a few new fans will emerge from that crowd.
@@eighteennakedcowboys Music = good, performance = terrible. I'd rather listen to Toccata and Fugue played on a kazoo by a developmentally challenged chimpanzee in an uber driven by Michael Schumacher 2020.
This is one of my favorite REK songs. Seeing/listening to him perform it acoustically is a treat. I do miss the mandolin.
Down here in Texas, Robert is a fixture of our music scene. We love him.

Legend
I love all of REK's work, but this song might just be his greatest--a true masterpiece.

I wish I'd wrote this song (not that I could have), but so mentally scenic.

It's not the typical REK audience that's for sure
Este som chega muito bem aqui no Brasil.
REK is a national treasure

I reached in my pocket and found 3 twenties and a ten.
Biscuits....butter honey
Feeling Good Again
Only thing harder to do than playing for a room full of drunks, is playing a room full of sober people! BTW it has got to be Raspberry Jam!
These nice folks have no idea who they are listening to. Sad for them.

Biscuits belong with gravy sorry
Great song ruined by half assed effort. Find another version of this gem.
Scott Prascher you know nothing about music... obviously
One man and his guitar- I think it sounded just fine.
