I think you hit it right on the money that these types of remakes are going to become the new trend. Which is absolutely preferable to those mediocre, "Why did we even make this?" kind of remakes we were getting in the early 2010s like RoboCop and Total Recall. I respect the hell out of Anno for going back to such a rough point in his life to give Evangelion another go. I watched the original when I was about 12 or 13 and part of growing up for me was realizing that I didn't hate Shinji because he was poorly written, I hated Shinji because he reminded me of myself. I'm not sure when or if I'll get around to watching the Rebuild movies, but it makes me happy that he finally got his own form of closure after the hell the toxic end of the fanbase put him through. It says a lot about the stress Eva puts on him that making one of the most depressing Godzilla films was a cathartic break for Anno. Also, I'm going to have Simple and Clean stuck in my head the rest of the night thanks to your bit on the FF7 Remake(s).
Firstly, congrats on your 10k view video! And yeah it really felt like an elder nerds way of saying "I'm done with all this". He really left it with no more stories to tell. You gonna complain about shinji getting a girlfriend but not your preferred one? Too damn bad. And I'm definitely checking out shin godzilla and Kamen rider now since I'm sure they take a similar approach to its respective source materials.
@@ReptarusOnIce I totally missed the fact that Anno did a Kamen Rider and an Ultraman movie as well. On to my ginormous watch list it goes! And thanks! I still have no idea why that one, of all games, was the one to blow up (it was the boobs, wasn't it?) but I'm just trying to enjoy the ride while it lasts.
