My grandmother was dying of cancer and my grandfather knew this and died of a broken heart before her. He had a heart condition but knowing she was gonna leave him he went first. They loved each other very much and he just couldn't be here without her.
I'm glad she reached out. If you rest, you rust. Walk when you can it lubricates the knees.😊

Yes ! Thank you for saying that. The city I live in disrespects seniors so much. The young people especially. We like to hear senior rather old people. Just like we not loner say mail man. We say mail carrier. And another one , police officer rather than police man. 💕
@@marymemlendon5522 I think the country does. For example, I just don't understand how seniors are left to figure out medicare and other senior sevices. It's a minefield of fraud.
I'm currently taking care of a senior person with mental issues who lost her only caretaker, her 31 y.o. son, to covid 2 years ago. I knew if I didn't help she would find herself homeless again. As bad as NYC is in somethings, when it comes to getting some city services, its great. The problem is finding it. She never would have found it on her own. It was and still is hard for me to get her what she needs. Managed to get her medicare, SNAP, and mental illness support. I made sure she didn't lose the meager social security money she receives. And just let her know daily that she is not alone in the world. Breaks my heart to think about others out there not getting the help they need.
That's why I can relate to this short.

@marymemlendon5522 I've noticed the younger kids acting like that, and it really makes me angry. I'm 54 and I've been called elderly. What in the world is wrong with people? I've always loved older people and enjoyed spending time with them. I actually learned a lot from them, and so could these brats. I hope they get the same treatment when they get older. Sorry, but I do.
As a nurse who works with the elderly, having routine and something to look forward to every day means everything to them.
I absolutely agree! I’m a cna in long term care , the smallest things mean the most.
That goes for pretty much everyone. A routine gives us sctructure and having things to look forward to every week gives us drive and motivation.

For real. I probably don't have to tell you about how quickly alot of older folks go downhill due to loneliness plus not staying active or engaged with the world around them. When a spouse dies that's pretty much game over for so many couples. Seeing this lady out here with a smile on her face makes me happy 😊.

The older woman I think is still alive and going on hikes with the girl and her pack of dogs once a week like the video said.
@intothedark222 the older lady's husband (the guy in the first clip) died. So the lady that is talking (with the Great Dane) started going on hikes and hanging out with the older lady ❤

Yes. Most of us don't know what to say, too afraid of saying the wrong thing that we end up saying nothing.
A human voice is so important during the quiet and empty days following a close bereavement. We can offer company like this lady, and they can choose whether or not to accept. The fact that they've been thought about is what will help the grieving one keep going.
When someone is dealing with grief it’s not easy but the best thing to do is just be present. Don’t call and ask how they are. Show up to their door and sit in silence with them if that’s what they need. Actions will always speak louder than words.
This is a woman of action! All those around her are blessed.
Note: that's what the video states, not necessarily what she actually said to the woman. "Call me if you need anything" Was definitely said as well!
