lol the ghost has got to be one of your more controversial moves. A seasoned grappler can take a move and make it work bcus he has the experience to make all the necessary adjustments/reactions. A less experienced guy might take the same move and find it "not working", but he just hasnt done enough troubleshooting.

Ive been getting good at using this technique but it’s interesting how depending on the persons lvl your rolling with varies your degrees of success. On a white-blue il hit the ghost almost everytime .. once i start trying to hit with purple or brown belts i find difficulty with how they adjust to my adjustments and the battle continues to learn these little tricks so it works with higher belts

Basics. I have 3 classes behind me. My 40th birthday present to myself was BJJ classes. So far i have learned, the basics are really the only thing that matters for the first year. But i watch this shit anyway.

Damin Ledford, taking the basics to a high level is true mastery. I’m nearly 3 years in, and every time a fundamental class comes around I realize how I can make the fundamentals shut down “advanced” techniques. You’re on a good road.

Happy New Year I can now view your videos in 2020! Oh, and on the subject of side control escape, it's quite difficult when they plant their chest on you and are up on their toes sprawled, shifting their hips and running to maintain control (not on their knees) and stay heavy. What would you do it that case?

I’ve started going into a belly down position to escape side control, found it to be my most affective way to escape, along with the ghost escape being another go to for me. The thing is I have been worried that it might not be a good idea going belly down exposing my back or head, though on research it seem quite valid strategy, but anymore details on belly down side control escape would be welcome, also are strikes to the back of the head a concern?

Hi I have been studying this escape for a long time and I'm at the point that it's almost unstoppable. One problem I'm having is when I'm about to go for the escape they put their untrapped forearm into my neck. The prevents my head from being able to go under them. Any solution?. Thanks.

Great info, as always coach Brian. Just a thought though.. maybe show just 2 variations of the move you are showing. After that, too many is no good..for the thinking impaired! It reminds me a little of when I took jiu jitsu and they'd show you 3 or 4 moves each class- then the next class, a different 3 or 4. No wonder it takes 30 years to make black belt. When I took Judo- we drilled the same moves over and over, with 1 or 2 new ones added per class. Guess which group learned quicker? Thanks again for one of the best channels on youtube.

I really don’t appreciate this video. After stabbing several people in the eyes during my last class, I’ve been kicked out of my school. Now I have to find a school full of blind people so I can practice this technique without getting in trouble.
