Great to see you enjoying this I think it's really underrated. I know Compass is pretty expensive but they have some standout titles - I know how much you love Twilight Struggle... Any chance of you checking out Europe in Turmoil Cody? I think it's one you would really enjoy.
I think it looks good and I'd like to play it. However, I can't afford it at present, and Compass does not appear to offer review copies. Maybe sometime down the line.
I got the game recently and started playing solitaire and I have to say the CP have an extreme advantage. is there something that I am doing wrong? Whenever I play they win like Spring 1915. It’s gotten so unfair I have had to remove the Ruhr token and they still manage to win no whatever what happens is there a strategy or something basic about the gameplay I am missing or any tips for the EP?
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer I played again today a few times and it was decently even without the Rhur token probably because I played a lot smarter but when I added the token back it just became a landslide. I'm playing with the elite soldiers and tanks but nothing else so I think it's perfectly balanced without the Rhur token.
After watching this video, I came here to ask for your comparison to 'The Lamps Are Going Out', also by Compass, if you've played it. But I already see by other comments that you're working on a Lamps Review. That's great! But... But as it's not couth to compare a game under review to other games, I'd still love to hear your comparison opinion. So perhaps you'd be willing to answer such a question in the comments section for your Lamps review.
Hi Cody, do you think it would be possible to use the miniatures from A&A 1914 in this game? (drawing the chits from the bag and placing the miniatures on the map).
As I recall the shapes of the minis are different so it could tip you hand. Also, some of the special weapons have some unique characteristics you’d have to account for. But the real question is - why would you want to? Not every game has to (or should) have minis. I like minis fine in some games, but they are not necessary here. Best of luck.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Thanks for your feedback, Cody. I have no problem with chits, but on the other hand I also have a childish love for minis and I guess that's where my question is coming from haha
Played this twice using the base game rules. Once as the Entente and once as the Central Powers. We found that the CP have an uphill almost insurmountable time winning. Down 5 IP, with 2 units on board for the TE, that means at the start of Fall 1914 the Central Powers are mobilizing 14 units vs the 14 the allies have (with at least another 9-12 coming). With 3 fronts to engage between AH And Germany there are just too many enemies to get a foothold. Any advice? Are we missing something? I LOVE WW1 history and really want to enjoy this game. It has a lot going for it
Weird. That wasn’t my experience the few times I played it. Seemed fairly balanced. Maybe a slight edge to the allies, but nothing insurmountable. I’ve won with both factions.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer interesting. Maybe we just had some bad luck. Did you find the CP had to play very aggressively? Any advice on tactics? P.S. you've become far and away my favorite reviewer for games Cody. You give great explanations, personal insight and cheesy humor. Cheers
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer I've got a buddy coming Thursday, he is a big A&A fan, so we'll give it another go. I'll play CP and go even more aggressive! The famous German speed. Did you find any of the optional rules work so well you would not play the game without them?
Looks like a decent game, not great aesthetics though. The Lamps are Going Out is probably superior to this game based on high-level looks though and your review. Good to see WW I cutting it!
It is a fun game. But I would not play it again because The Lamps are Going Out is just better in every way except for the time commitment. The Lamps are Going Out takes about twice as long to play, but that is still not long for wargames.
Looks fantastic kodi ,,,, will pick this up when ready ,,, cheers 😶🌫️🐦🕊️
Great game.
I’ve been thinking about getting this. Going to pull the trigger. Thanks!
@@ThePIFiles34 Great Game. Happy to help.
This is a great game. I like that you can play out the potential outcome of the Zimmermann Telegram.
Indeed.
Nice vídeo, You are great.
Thank you, sir.

Don’t know what to tell you. In the Games I’ve played it’s even - Allies 50% win, Central 50% win.

Brotherhood & Unity from Compass Games next?
Be sure to play it 3 plyers. Its rulebook isent longer then An attrition of souls.
:)
No plans in the immediate future. Maybe down the line.

Should have Lamps up in a few weeks. Happy to discuss it further then.
Nice video. Dice is the plural of die. A bit confusing when you use die for plural, frequently.
Yeah - that one always trips me up.

My missus enjoys lighter wargames & will play this. She probably won't play Lamps are going out. So there's that.
This is a lighter wagame for sure - but fantastic!

@@vvirga5176 I think the last time we played we used all of them. Some mattered, some didn’t. I really liked the cards and the special weapons.

Stay tuned for Lamps review. Agree to disagree about the aesthetic.
Better than Lamps Go Out I wonder...🤔 I can lend my copy of Crusade and Revolution if interested.
Stay tuned...

Nice. Now move up a notch to The Lamps Are Going Out, which is a superior (if longer) game.
Stayed tuned for Lamps review.
As I proposed this, thank you, they finally answered (no)
I purchased this one. Glad I got it. Great game.
I was thinking of making a expansion for this game with maybe a asian or African theatre or both thoughts?
If you’ve got the rights - go for it!
For another great game from this company I recommend ww2 commander:volume one Battle of the bulge! It is excellent!😁
Thanks for the recommend.
