I don't know if this is a weird comment to make, but it's nice to see you introduce and credit the contractors working on this project. I feel like we rarely see or receive mention of them in many design videos where their work is obviously apparent.
He likely is contractually obligated too :P he’s likely getting sizeable discount for shoutouts. You can tell because it’s a pinned comment and such heavy emphasis.
Nothing wrong with it ofc, but still.
It's called a plug. He's giving a plug (advertisement) to these people in return for financial advantage... heavy discount.
@@Aldrahill while that's likely true it was still done very thoughtfully and respectfully, and Jean-paul is kinda like a re-curring character now. I think it's pretty genius!
@@streaming5332 I know and understand that, which I probably should have clarified. I guess I just liked the way it was done, since at least where I'm from there's a huge emphasis on DIY (and eschewing of professionals' labor) to the point of being disingenuous.
💯
George, congratulations on the planning approval. The work looks top rate! As an architect myself I would love to see the floor plan that is attached to the wall near the end of your video.
Me too
@@harmony3395 Me three
How exciting to finally get started. Sean Paul and his granddad certainly look like they do amazing work! Can't wait to see it all progress!
Raising the roof is a really good deicision. Also, i absolutely love the introduction to Sean Paul, it was so lovely and interesting to hear!
Really, 7 weeks seems like an impressively short timeline. It will fly by. I'm so excited for you and Junior (hoping he loves the new place). Can't wait to see more!
Edit: I forgot that Junior is a girl. Sorry, Junior!
renos always take a lot longer than expected I think
@@jj-if6it I agree! It's just that I expected a much longer timeline, based on what I saw. If the projection is only 7 weeks (even considering renovation almost always runs over schedule), that's impressive.
Junior is a girl :)
@@Sheytopia Thank you! I forgot! (Sorry, Junior!)
Impressive roof framing with bolts through the rafters, metal tie-downs and expansion bolts and metal strips into the sandstone walls. Not sure if this is MetroCode specs, but it sure is mighty strong! I live in hurricane country and this roof isn't going anywhere!
Gosh, I hope there are no feet in this one!
I have admit, I would love to see the rock walls repointed but I COMPLETELY understand the need for insulation.
So glad you have such qualified pros helping you!
Congratulations!
Great that the job is under way. The skylights are going to make a huge difference to the living area. It's going to be exciting to watch it all happen.
So excited to see the work as it's done. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Very nice talking about the contractor, i hope this generates lots of leads for him. I did miss seeing junior though, i hope he's supervising the work on line.
Hey George! Good to see things are finally moving along in your new house. I'm looking forward to seeing the transformation. ♥
Been following your twitch challenge. Its interesting man. You have given me new ways to look at my content creation. Appreciate that. Noticed your course is relatively cheap too. Gonna pick that up soon.
This is so exciting, George! Happy you are finally getting it started.
Sean Paul want to come to Indiana to help me finish a couple of projects? Hard finding craftsmen around here. Will cover travel, lodging, meals, materials, and labor. Regards from Indiana!
Sean Paul is a perfect fit for you. Neat and good workmanship. After waiting such a long time we are all ready for progress. Thanks
Excited for you! 💕
A bit bummed that the stone work looks to be covered over, though.
Hopefully there will be some parts left showing for the history. I love stone (and brick) interior walls. They add a lot of personality and history.
From other renovations, it's because it needs to be insulated. It would be a VERY cold home without it. They also need moisture barriers. I don't know it the stone shows on the outside though.
Always neat to see other countries construction methods. Especially on a remodel where there are a thousand different ways to do things.
Very good feng shui to see mountains from your property.
I just trimmed back some neighbours overgrown branches to reveal a mountain range to the west- it’s wonderful to see mountains and sunsets from my kitchen window.
So glad to seen the renovations starting, looks like you have a great person handling them.
Hope the weather is kind to you.
So pleased you have planning permission for your build .👍
It s always amazing to watch old windows replaced in old buildings
Wow! Sounds like Phase 1 is gonna happen very quickly. Fantastic! It's gonna be idyllic, George. And quite a view. So glad you've got a true professional [hard to find these days] in Sean Paul. Looking forward to seeing how your home progresses.
Wow exciting times! Really interested to see how this project of yours goes. A word to the wise - this will take longer and cost more than you think. Hopefully not too much longer and only slightly more! 😆Having done six renovation projects I know how this goes. However good luck and cant wait to see further progress and the finished house.
Your contractor is well chosen. Having watched a lot of contractors work, Sean Paul and his Gramps rate among the best! Exciting times George.
Hey George, so happy for you that you can now get moving on the reno! Way to go and thanks so much for sharing!
Im glad to seen Sean Paul is still getting busy.
Looking great! Be sweet to have your own outdoor space when phase one is complete. Looking forward to following the whole process.
It looks like it will be a great looking house, George. You seem to have a very good contractor.
I completely love Sean Paul's logo. It really communicates "joinery." As always, best to you Patchy!
0:44 hope you keep that cool exposed stone!
Just found you today, I watched the video showing the front roof replacement (I just love seeing new roofs being installed, Idk why, lol) & then searched back for the beginning of this project. I’m looking forward to enjoying your progress! 😊
As a contractor myself thanks for showcasing them doing their thing. Way to many UA-camrs show off their new house renovation or building and give absolutely 0 credit to the guys that actually built it
Yayyyyyyyyy another reno video by George! ☺️
that view from the back door is amazing
It’s always nice to see the Renovation Updates.
I remember John-paul's aunty's and know his aunt Michelle. He's doing a cracking job there.
Love these renovation videos! Most of these types of videos just show someone using the chop saw for 20 minutes. But I love seeing what’s going on in the room!
The best thing in this project is the hill in the background. I would buy it just for the hill.
Wonderful George, just wonderful.
I am looking forward to the next several episodes.
Your plans are as usual well thought out and interesting. Love that you have engaged a true joiner and talent to do the work. Can't wait for your next video.
I would echo the comments that came before, your respect for those who are doing the work is exemplary. I enjoy your videos! You have some very good goals, too! And a good head rub to your cat!
This will be lovely
Very exciting!
Brilliant!
Wow running complete builds from 21 - props to him
I'm pleased your builder used expanding foam to seal the window frames, my single visit window installers wont do this because it means returning to trim off the cured foam, so i retrospectively foam them myself.
I thought you were saying Jean Paul and thought that's an exotic name for a Scotsman 😁
Me too, lol
Progress! Yay for you and kitty🌺
❤🎉so happy for you !!!!
Looks already so much better. I am glad you were able to rise the ceiling, the low height of that room made me feel uncomfortable...
I'm looking forward to all the changes!
I love Sean Paul’s music!
So exciting to watch along with this project.
Good for you giving a shout out to your friends business .
So do appreciate the work of a craftsman.
Finding a good craftsman (or woman) that you can trust is so important. I am not doing anything as extreme as renovating a house, but the house I live in was clearly put together by less then stellar craftspeople. They were in fact so sub par that I have had to change windows and doors on the side of my house that bears the brunt of the weather.
I was made aware of a small company that does a really good job and explains well why they need to do when they do things. The company is rather small, just two childhood friends (born in 1990) working together. They already have too much work (as word of mouth have done wonders for them) and they are not the cheapest, but those guys do wonderful work. So I will stick to using them further down the lane if at all possible.
It's good that you're thinking of energy efficiency now. Thanks for sharing!
George; excited for you and will follow your progress, anxiously. Sean Paul looks like a master at his trade.
Oh so that's how you put a window in! That's very cool. I sometimes wish I had building skills. When you watch someone do this work, it's incredible - they literally can build their own modern home. I enjoyed this video :) Wishing you luck with the house. Edit: hoping you can show us how the velux windows get installed in the next video? I find it really interesting.
Excellent looking good already.
Sounds like you've got the right guy for the job. Hope it all goes smoothly for you mate.
This is going to be very nice George.
Congrats on your plan approval!!!
Yay :) Another AwEsOmE video !! Thanks so much George, inspirational as ever :) Can't wait to see how your project develops :)
It's always good knowing a trusted tradesman. Good luck
So happy for you George! And can't wait to see your new house when it's all finished. 😊
Thank you for sharing this video with us. It is nice of you to give thanks and credit to your builder Sean Paul and his grandad. I am looking forward to your next installment in this series.
Very exciting!! Sean Paul knows what he's doing for sure!
yay more reno videos!
George, this is awesome - congratulations! I look forward to following along on this. I'd love to stay in your other place once it's up on AirBB (visiting Ireland is on my bucket list, so now even more)! 😘
How about Scotland?!!
@@harmony3395 ooops I meant Scotland! (I'd like to see both actually) 😁
Hi Patchy! Question: I know you’ve probably answered this before, what year/how old is your original tiny house on Cobbles Rd? My grandparents were from Scotland and My Dad and I love to learn about Scotland’s history and really love to see historic homes-it gives one a picture of how people lived before us. Sending warm wishes from Texas❤
Looks great so far! :)
So wonderful it's finally started.
I hope Junior likes noises because Sean Paul is going to make a lot of them.
Enjoy the cool weather. Yesterday it was 98 degrees with a feels like of 115.
Pat Junior for me.
Sean Paul is lucky to be able to work alongside such a fit and young grandad... I'm not much older than him and my grandparents would be well into their 100s if they were alive
beautiful beams George! Congratulations on the planning permission & finding sean
Please please keep an exposed wall Patchy my boyyy!!
Loved this video👏
All the best George, looks like a great project 👍🏼
It's going to be a good project ro follow!
What an amazing view
Hey, George, seeing as you were worried about renting out have you seen the website fairbnb where it only allows a person to rent one house out and they have to live in the area? There's a BBC article about it as the alternative has absolutely wrecked some Welsh villages. Just a thought. I enjoy your videos, and was delighted to see Sean Paul has a firm named after his late aunt - he sounds like a top bloke. And his grandad is indeed grand and needs no airbrushing :) Good luck with the build.
Yay, congratulations on finally getting the permissions. I hope the renovation goes smoothly and am looking forward to seeing it transform along the way.
Wow! Looks fantastic!
Looking forward to seeing this transformation take place 😊
Thank U 4 taking us along 4 the ride! This is awesome video & luv ur narration the best! Pls try to sneak in Junior with a hard hat on in the next one wearing proper safety gear 🎉😻
Best wishes for your upcoming work with Jean Paul and his dad. Enjoy it and have fun too !
congrats on the approval george! another great watch.
Wow, I just love how you move and groove when it comes to your projects … go George, go George. THANK YOU SEAN PAUL ❤😊
It's looking great!
W Sean Paul and John! 🎉! What an exciting new adventure this is 😊
Yay! Great progress!
Looks like you have an outstanding contractor. Hang on to him! I’ve been trying to find a reputable contractor for a bathroom remodel and it is shocking the deceitful business practices and price gouging going on in my market. Not sure where to turn.
Its lovely to watch the renovation. X
Gosh, George, you are turning into a real estate magnate. Good for you!
I love to see the progress, it's coming along beautifully! Thanks for posting, Cheers George!
Great start!😊
So exciting! Thank you for the step-by-step videos - I’m learning a lot!
