HE MADE JAMBONS!!! As an Irish fella the amount of times I've been hungover and gone to my local deli to pick up a jambon (or 2) when I don't have the stomach for a breakfast roll. I was watching this video chilling but absolutely sat up when he said he's making jambons. It goes without saying that you absolutely NAILED them, usually they have tiny cubes of ham but I'm a much bigger fan of your portions here. Definitely dropping a like for this one, thank you chef Andy for the Irish representation!!!
@@andy_cooks mate let's be real, they were delicious because you made them hahaha If you ever find yourself in Ireland some day, be sure to grab one of these from a deli from Centra, Spar or Londis especially if you need something quick on the go. And if you go out to any of the seaside towns near Dublin like Howth, Portmarnock, Dun Laoghaire or Dalkey, make sure you grab a bag of chips either with some fish or a battered sausage. Go raibh míle maith agat Andy!
The ultimate Aussie use of leftover ham is to make a toastie out of it. Whether you call it a toastie, a breville, or a jaffle - it's the best way to use up all your leftover Chrissy meats! Every year I even get extra bread, good butter, pepper, and some condiments specifically for using the leftovers that mum inevitably piles up on me.
Here we are in NZ prepping as much as we can in advance. It’s the thought of quality leftovers that makes it worthwhile, you’re not just cooking for one day. The Bahn mi and the jambon are now on the leftovers list. Thank you - always worth watching - fast and snappy
I feel proud that Banh mi has a special place in your heart, thank you for visited VietNam and enjoyed the food and learnt how to make some VNese dishes!
1. Canada takes the gold with the Ham and Pineapple pizza (a NZ classic, also) 2. France for the silver with the Quiche (but only with a homemade thyme and rosemary shortcrust pastry) 3. Vietnam takes the bronze with the Banh Mi (crunchy, pickled aromatic goodness) Honorary mention for Ireland with Jambon (parsley in the white sauce would be yummy, too)
As an English woman I’ve never known anyone have leftover ham on a jacket potato. We have leftover ham with egg, chips and pickled onions on Boxing Day
We would use pork in Switzerland for the Cordon Bleu. And what you call Swiss Cheese so Emmentaler is not too common in a Cordon Bleu. Since it was invented in the Canton of Wallis you would use Raclette. That said I don't think that those changes would make it better than yours! Great vid as always, thank's Andy.
In Quebec, we also have a really similar traditionnal pea soup that was a staple in logging camps. Fun fact, the frenchified english name of the soup "pissou" is also a way to call someone a coward. So, the pea soup could also have been the Canadian dish lol
Sesame seed bun, butter, ham, cheese of choice, tomato, Salt-N-Pepa, thin slice of red onion and hot English mustard! For me that’s a winner even if it’s not with leftover Christmas ham😊👍🏼🇦🇺
@@primeFACTOR definitely on the bacon, jalapeno is good too. I do like the tanginess of the pickled banana peppers tho, not a big fan of the serranos myself. I don't mind heat but not much more than a jalapeno
Do you know what I like? I mean great video as ever, but you make your beloved bahn mi first, you say probably nothing is going to top this, and in the end there is no drama, no dam dam dam, bahn mi is the top how you said it would. I don’t know how to describe but I love how original you are, no gimmicks, just a genuine good guy with the success he and his team deserves.
The surprising thing about Hawaiian pizza is that plenty of people claim that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza but if you go to any party anywhere in the world where mixed pizzas are ordered the Hawaiian will always be first to disappear and there will never be leftovers. Pro tip when I make it I transform it into an Aussie Hawaiian by adding bacon and a raw egg it’s next level
I feel the whole "you can't put pineapple on a pizza" is a cliche people like to repeat... bit like "you can't play stairway to heaven in a guitar shop". Hawaiian pizza is definitely a favourite with kids. The one thing that doesn't belong on a pizza in my opinion is chicken. With a group of people and a selection of pizzas, the chicken pizza will be the last to go
As a Canadian, this is my favourite pizza of all pizzas. I absolutely love the sweetness of pineapple and the ham 😋. Originally from South America, I ate a lot of 🍍 .
As a New Zealander, I'm in total agreement. Caramelised sweet pineapple and salty ham and cheese on crusty pizza is perfection. A little streaky bacon is a nice addition, too : )
Never seen anyone put ham in a baked potato like that. I'd be chucking it in with some chicken in a pie. New to the channel, but loving your work Andy. Cheers
My grandma used to always make ham and pea soup but for whatever reason she stopped making it, very tempted to ask her to make it again... I could devour an entire pot and loaf of bread 😂
Im so happy u included netherlands as a dutch person its more thick and chunky and we eat it with rye bread."i know another guy said this but im dutch too so i said it aswell idc".
Notice how so many of these follow a ham + cheese + wheat dough fornat.. especially the ones of European origin. The Asian ones meanwhile don't rely on dairy for flavour. Fascinating!
A typical German (Xmas or NYE) party food is Toast Hawaii. Slice of Toast, ham, ring of pineapple, cheese single and grilled. Instead of a slice of ham you could easily use bits of leftover baked ham.
Andy, if you ever feel like putting a twist on the idea of your pea and ham soup try making Jamaican Gungo Pea Soup. Its a staple around Christmas, uses the ham bone and some chunks braised down. Just make sure you use white sweet potato, the orange ones are not the same at all.
Not sure how true it is but I was told CLUB sandwich stands for "Chicken, Lettuce Under Bacon" adding ham however adds a nice touch. Keep up the great vids!
Hi Andy, club sandwiches are going by the way of leaded gasoline in the US. You find them in some old time diners. Not a frequent thing at all. Scalloped potatoes with ham chunks is still popular in some parts. In some parts of the country, a Monte Christo is popular. We do the pea soup thing, but also ham and bean soups. Same principle. There is a wiggle thing that some old Yankees make. Chopped hard boiled egg, chopped ham, and chives in a white sauce. Spooned over bread or mashed potatoes.
Every year I throw a "leftover ham and egg nog" Xmas party for my friends. This year it's this Monday, in fact... we cook off a big joint of ham the day before, then slice it up specifically for ham sandwiches on dinner rolls with cheese, mustards, horseradish and assorted accoutrements. I make my mum's egg nog recipe, and we listen to my vinyl copy of Duke Ellington's Nutcracker. So I place the "ham roll" at number 1, myself. I'm Canadian, btw. Hawaiian pizza in Canada is not nearly as bougie as the one you made... deli sliced ham and canned pineapple, and it's shite, but it's also nostalgic and great... lol... when I was in Hawaii I had a pizza with luau pork and fresh pineapple and it was amazing. Monkeypod on Maui.
Canadian here. Pineapple on pizza is terrible. I'm sad you didn't do Ham & Cheese biscuits.. the OG from Tim Hortons. Biscuit recipe - add cubes of ham and shredded cheddar cheese. Lots of both.. man, that's comfort food here.
Andy can’t believe you didn’t do a ham and cheese toasty! Easily top three mind you Hawaiian pizza is actually easily top three as well imo. Undisputed number one Bánh Mì!!
Andy! Yes Chef! They all looked good. My favourite, so simple yet delicious - soft white bread (sliced, roll or hot dog bun, but it has to be soft) butter, grainy mustard on the bottom, lots of ham and then mayo on top, freshly ground black pepper optional 😋😋. I'm from the UK so should it appear in the ratings 😂 Also left over ham freezes really well - lay it out in a flat layer (stops it clumping together) in a zip lock bag, freeze it then open the bag, shake it down to the bottom, then re-close getting as much air out as possible to stop freezer burn.
One of the best sandwiches ever is the French jambon et buerre. A bit of quality baguette (this is essential), a liberal amount of cultured butter, and some quality ham. That's it.
For the american sandwhich, you forgot the slice of wierdly yellow cheese. A place I worked at used a nice sharp cheddar, it's a nice bit of funk in between all the proteins.
Hawaiian pizza, Nickelback and Justin Bieber. The 3 Great Shame of us Canadian. Keep up the awesome content Chef, really enjoy watching you, from a Canadian chef.

Traditional Dutch pea soup is usually really thick and chunky. We also eat it with small slices of rye bread with some cured speck
Yeah, in proper Dutch pea soup you can stick a spoon in the bowl and it'll stay upright indefinitely because of how thick the soup is.
Zo lekker!!! (So delicious!!!)
It’s missing the smoked sausage (rookworst) too
Yeah i think he made pea and ham soup, and not snert. I know one of those is a dutch national dish tho 😂
Pea and ham soup isn’t typically Dutch, snert is. But as mentioned it’s thicker

Boxing day 100%! And definitely pickles. But with celeriac mash for me rather than the chips. If it's not boxing day, it goes in a sandwich.
Much of the world doesn't 'get' canned baked beans on baked potatoes 🤷♀️
Defo ham, egg and chips with a slice of bread and butter to dip a chip butty into a runny egg.

In Belgium, we wrap chicory in ham, put it in cheese sauce then gratinate. It's excellent if you like chicory!
My 7 year old saw my Andy Cooks: The Cookbook the other day and asked why anybody would cook a cookbook.
😂
fair point
😆
That quiche looked delicious - I might do that - I need some ham! Thanks for all the dishes. I agree Bahn Mi is the best.
In Quebec, we also have a really similar traditionnal pea soup that was a staple in logging camps. Fun fact, the frenchified english name of the soup "pissou" is also a way to call someone a coward. So, the pea soup could also have been the Canadian dish lol
But isn't Quebec it's own Nation?
Pea soup is the best 😂
The huge can of Habitant brand pea soup is a taste and brand memory from my childhood.
Definitely missed the best christmas dinners leftover dish.. Bubble and Squeak.. Truly the best of english leftover recipes..
I do love bubble and squeak! But i did include it in last year's Xmas leftovers video so thought i would mix it up this year.
Sesame seed bun, butter, ham, cheese of choice, tomato, Salt-N-Pepa, thin slice of red onion and hot English mustard! For me that’s a winner even if it’s not with leftover Christmas ham😊👍🏼🇦🇺
"you never have the perfect amount of celery" - So freaking true.
Ham and cheese croissants are the go here.
I never knew jambons were irish, have far to many of them with a coffee on the go in the morning. Love them
Ham and potato croquets here, favorite way to use up the leftover ham (Though also use most of the other methods as well.)
Mad seeing my hangover saviour the humble jambon pop up. Unreal stuff
Pineapple on pizza isn't bad but when you add banana peppers that's where it's at! Love the sweet and sour contrast!
Adding hot peppers to a Hawaiian pizza takes it to a higher level!
Adding jalapeno or serrano and bacon to a hawaiian is the pro move, double down on the salty, add spicy to sweet, add crunchy from bacon. good shit.
@@primeFACTOR definitely on the bacon, jalapeno is good too. I do like the tanginess of the pickled banana peppers tho, not a big fan of the serranos myself. I don't mind heat but not much more than a jalapeno

I love pineapple on pizza. Never understood the haters are frequently the same ones who rave over Al Pastor tacos which are basically the same thing.
I'd have been shocked if anything had dethroned Banh Mi. Hadn't thought of it, but looks like I'll be baking some Banh Mi buns on boxing day.
Jambon - staple student food in Dublin! Class to see it here!
Hats off to Des for getting that tasty pizza snuck in there! And Andy, for heavens sake-roll that potato and push in on the ends to split it nicely!!!

Ham and eggs baby !
Ham egg and chips mate😊
I agree, in my opinion, that would have been more of the USA version
Gotta go with ham, egg and chips. For winners.

My question
What is your least favourite thing to cook and prep in a restaurant
And what do you hate cooking at home
I make a variation of Swedish pea soup using marrowfat peas, with leftover ham. Thicc and delicious.
You could do a video dedicated to Dutch food. Hachee, different stamppot and cakes like proper Dutch apple pie. Please and thank you!
Banh mi is such a simple delight so glad you gave it the respect it deserves
Lovely, lovely, lovely!❤❤❤
I would argue ham and beans are better in the U.S. than a club.
And you would be wrong.

As an Irish man your getting my thumbs up as always.....Colcannon is another delicious dish ❤
Leftover cooking is the best 👌 dev gonna use this! Thx Chef!
Agree with you Andy
I would have loved to see a upmarket version of bubble and squeak for the England section!
I'm about to order a ham, pineapple, jalapeno pizza thanks to you.
Woo, jambon top 3 🇮🇪
Ham freezes really well.
I'm Irish and have never heard of jambon!!! but its French for ham and I have been 25yrs outside
Well I’m buzzing to see the Irish Jambon get the respect it deserves finally
Andy or Katelyn or Dez - you should add (From around the world) or something like that to the video title. Awesome video as always. Cheers!
As a Vietnamese I count this as a double win cause in my mind fried rice is also ours 😁. And banh mi pate is my favourite dish!
To say the club sandwich is a little bit involved but the pickling of the Bahn Mi isn’t involved? I still love the video 😊
i js made ham literally last night T_T andy is the pro at timing his video uploads
Coleslaw goes great with the potato. And pineapple on pizza? Yes, yes yes!
yes
I wondered what you had for England when i saw us in the thumbnail.
Honestly though, we chuck left overs in a curry traditionally in our family.

The way to have the perfect amount of celery? You have to grow your own, and harvest as you need it
Banh mi pro tip: flatten your sammich before you eat it, pre crunch up that baguettes crust before you rip the roof of your mouth to shreds.
Swedish-Canadian here. Great video, although I’m pretty sure I would have ranked these (yummy) dishes QUITE differently :)
Wishing you all a great Chrissie and best of luck with the move.

Man, dissing on the ham and pineapple pizza ... I mean, a cold ham an cheese sanga beats a pizza? In what world?
Pea or lentil soup! But nothing beats Chef Andy making some chitterlings! 😊🙏 Oh, make Uncle Roger proud with that fried rice! 🤔
Great to see the Jambon take 3rd place. 🇮🇪
I freeze my celery sticks straight from the start, that way it doesn’t go off and I have it for a mirepoix when I need it😊
