Completely agree, I never re-geared mine. I just electronically calibrated the transmission’s shift points. It was done at the dealership, protecting the factory warranty.

My dealership explained to me that it’s a program that stays with your truck that’s why it’s $450 and if you ever go up to bigger tires you don’t have to pay anything they just reset it on that program they installed
Hi Friend, Thanks for your share your experience, so the conclusion with respect to the gas consumption was: 32¨ tire / 20 MPG vs 35¨ tire / 18 MPG or 10.9 MPG???
Yes 35s with a lift will average you about 18mpg with the recalibrated speedometer and conservative driving. In no way are you going to see 10.9mpg, unless you have a heavy foot and accelerate constantly, Thanks for watching.
Dang, why am i not getting 18.7 mpg. I have 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and i swear, when i had stock i had 12 mpg and now i have 35s and still the same mpg..
That’s weird… Mine does have a terrible ‘city’ driving MPG, but even after a whole day of crawling the lowest I seen is 14s. Have you had you speedo recalibrated? 12mpg sounds really bad, my 2014 Silverado 2500 6.0 Gas engine, 4 door, long bed, lifted, running 35s gets 13mpg. Thanks for watching, hope you figure it out…
I have a 2018 4door JL with the 2.5 Mopar on Nitto 33X12.5 and I’m getting 16 MPG. Basically all highway driving and cruise set at 66MPH. Any recommendations on how to improve that??
That is rather low for 33s! I hardly use cruise control, it’s very finicky with gear changes. Cruise is always hunting for a lower gear, any crosswind, overpass, bump on the road, even a leaf on the road and bam two gears down. Also recalibrating is a must, and if you logging around heavy stuff there is no fixing the mpgs. Thanks for watching 🙏 sorry I couldn’t help much…
Hey brother. I have the same truck as you but in stock form. I’ve noticed like clock work, at 65 MPH I hear a somewhat load ringing or whistling coming from the front of the truck. No Idea what it is or where it’s coming from. Does your do that? Thank you brotha.
If you’re referring to a mechanical whine, then no; my Gladiator does not. As far as whining wind noise goes, a definite & resounding YES! Independent of the top you have, wind noise is as common in our Jeeps as sunlight is at 12 midday in a south Texas day! Readjusting the top, cleaning the rubber seals might help, but other than that a good sound system will do 😂. Jeeps aren’t highway cruiser, they are rock crawling beast; I’m learning to cope with the 🌬 thanks for watching!
@@HamboMTB I don’t think it has anything to do with the top. It’s a hardtop and the truck is only about 2 months old. I think it’s mechanical, cause once the speed starts to drop to 60 or lower the wine goes away. I’ve been looking at different forums, maybe someone talks about it but I can’t find anything. I did see something about a loud throttle body, but I can’t remember where I read that. Plus, it kinda doesn’t make sense. Thank you brotha.
Felt the same way at first. I was so close to going 37s, but I’m running 3:73 so 37s wouldn’t make sense without re-gearing. In the future Im going to go all out (1ton differential, 40s and pneumatic lockers) but for now I’m keeping it under factory warranty. Thanks for watching.
I put 2.5 inch lift with 35s on a 2020 4 door Sahara but has the 2.0 But i was going to ask. Question, If you don't recalibrate the speedometer would it always give me problems or gas mileage issues?
Recalibrating the speedometer is primarily to assist the transmission hit the right shift points. MPG is just an added benefit. Recalibrating will help utilize your 8 speeds, even with recalibration (if you have the 3:73 gears) we hardly see 8th gear especially on a windy day. Thanks for watching 🙏
Honestly idk, I drove it like an elder, mostly highway, city driving kills MPGs. Stock I was getting close to 22mpg, on 35s I was getting about 390 miles out of a tank of gas.
Eight gear is a rarity indeed, but attainable. If your highways consist of many overpasses then you will definitely never see the magic 8th. But happy Jeeping nonetheless, thanks for watching 🙏.
@@isaacwebb20 in case you Re-gear, change tire size again, switch from regular to LED lighting amongst other types of allowed reprogramming. They offer a $450 pack that covers the span of ownership.
It’s not necessary, but it is recommended. With the 3.73 any wind gust or change in road elevation (overpass) and you can kiss 8th gear goodbye. You will only see prolonged use of 8th in long flat roads, with the wind pushing. I haven’t re-geared cause I didn’t want to void my factory warranty. Later (when this is not my primary mode of transportation) I’m planning on going 40s with chromoly axles, 5:13 gears, air lockers and a coil over suspension.
I did, before I could average 21 to 22mpg, now it’s about 19mpg. It’s not much of a sacrifice in my opinion. Driving against the wind is where you can notice it the most, on a really windy day you will not see anything better than 16.5mph average (driving conservatively). Before with the 32s a windy day would yield closer to high 17 to low 18mpg. I don’t regret it at all, but then again my last truck use to get 9mpg on a good day. Thanks for watching…
