Well for why he has so many, My best explanation is that it's Nature, Trillions of Species, Some of them are bound to have Very similar abilities and run into the same factors that would evolve the same trait, it's why Flight has evolved so many times, I understand it's a Show but they go for a somewhat good degree of Realism, I also feel like each species brings its own thing to the Table, like Chicken but in 6 different recipes. Amphibian has more Ghost like abilities to go with Electrical abilities. Feedback is more about Absorbing and transferring Energy. Buzzshock Splits himself like a Fusion of Ditto and Feedback so he can more easily overwhelm opponents with Chaos. Brainstorm is Intelligent and has abilities on top of just shooting electricity, I mean he has full on Telekinesis just with Electricity. Frankenstrike can hook up to machinery and manipulate them with his ability to generate and semi control electricity. Shocksquach is the most generic with only the ability to generate it instead of full on controlling it but even then he has good Strength to go with it. Each would be better in certain situations instead of all of them being the exact same in every situation.
If you think about it Amphibian is a hilariously broken alien. He has Flight, Electrokinesis, Mind reading, Intangibility, Super Speed, and the ability to travel through electrical circuitry.
I feel combination ego death, and it is a blend of the two beings Like a terrorantula and Phil got mixed together, and became a third seperate being which is a combination So it would have both sets of memories, but is a different entity
@@TheInkTankhey I love your videos and your art style I have two questions did you do a drawing where you change the predator that eats Ben alien and the second question how do you come up with what you want to draw or when write because I have this problem where I just can’t write what I want in my story it’s just blank in my head do you face this problem also and how did you overcome it
@@Iceking60791Google writers block, and how other people overcome it. I like to read other stories, play games and just go on walks when I get it. Hope this helps
Apparently consuming things through a straw dampens some of the flavor. So there may be a credit to the whole smoothie thing. His mom and Grandpa Max make very flavorful exotic things which overwhelms Ben's taste buds. Smoothies and their straw don't hit so hard.
It’s actually the other way around. It maximizes exposure to your palette through reduced oxygen exposure. So things really do taste better through straws.
You know, the line “my exposure to the Nemetrix is messing with your little watch there” always stuck out to me. Does the Nemetrix have some sort of effect on the Omnitrix when in a certain proximity? Maybe that’s why Ben always turns into a specific set of aliens when fighting Zed. Heck, that might also explain why he unlocked Ball Weevil when fighting Zed, similar to how he unlocked Buzzshock when fighting Phil.
@@TheInkTank I think it makes sense since the Nemetrix was made using an incomplete Omnitrix schematic as its base. It could be that the Nemetrix is technically tied to the same database, or that it has a signal which interferes with the Omnitrix transformation feature in a similar way to how Albedo's Omnitrix copy caused a feedback loop with the recalibrated Omnitrix.
@@igg7865I wish he used it in omniverse since he could cannonically control himself in omniverse. It would have also been good foreshadowing for him revealing he could during the rooters arc
NGL i like the ''Phil is no Kevin'' line because it goes to show that NOT everyone is redeemable. While yes perhaps the line means way less if we assume Phil is not there anymore but at the end of the day it goes to show not all evil people can just one day become friends. Kevin was an exception, he was a monster but he was a kid who had way too much problems with his life and having Kwarrel as a mentor and growing up in relatively better conditions after leaving Null void even if through being a con man has mellowed him out and through that he was able to be redeemed thanks to Ben and Gwen. But not everyone is Kevin, not everyone can be saved and genuinely atone the same way
Same Kevin had his faults, but it was all rooted (heh) to his upbringing, molded by his trauma and unfortunate consequences of his powers, and the way he thought the world viewed him made him believe he was a monster and so he just embraced it up until Kwarrel showed him a better path and Ben and Gwen helped him walk down that path further Phil _CHOSE_ to do bad things. He chose to endanger people for cash and fame. He chose his attempt to kill the Tennysons all so he can keep doing his greedy acts. Had the Nemetrix not broken his mind, let's be real, he would love his new powers if it meant he could get back at Max by killing him
@@Jaded_JinxNo doubt he would. Although i have my doubts if Phil's mind is broken. I think his mind and the terrorrantula mind are somehow fused, and the line' there hasnt been a Phil in this body for years' means that the Phil that Max knew is long gone, and niw is this monster that is willimg to do anything for power. At least that is my theory
on the food thing, my personal headcanon for why ben doesn't like a lot of others' cooking but likes those... *questionable* smoothie flavors is down to having problems with textures in foods. that's something i struggle with as well, so it feels relatable to me. having things basically reduced to a slurry does help on occasion
I like to think it's kinda like "not liking cheese on it's own but liking cheese when it's with other kinds of food" deal but in reverse. Ben probably does like weird food and especially weird smoothie mixtures, but he doesn't like it when it's too much of so many things at once, like Max and Sandra's cooking like, you can like a regular burger with some other strange piece of food with it that no one expects but you like how it tastes, but you're not gonna like a burger when it's been stuffed with all manner of food that it's barely recognizable and edible
36:32 “my exposure to the nematrix is messing with your little watch “ do you think that’s why when Kyber shows up he always gets the aliens that have predators (edit: thanks for the likes ps Kuro what do you think of this theory?)
That makes a lot of sense, but wouldn't Ben have said something about that? I don't think he ever makes any comments or complaints about being unable to choose an alien that doesn't have a predator
@@TheLastSpider-Man I mean, he is supposed to be very intelligent, but why exactly would he? He out of habit just says "Dat dang Omnitrix again, ain't that funny!"(Even tho almost all other mistransformations are canonically his fault) and forgets about it. The pattern of other Omnitrices like the Nemetrix potentially interfering with it would not even occur to him most likely.
About the intelligence thing, its possibly that Terroranchula's aren't that sapient normally, but operating in a humans brain for so long allowed it to develop higher thought. One of the key differences between human and animal brains is the sheer amount of neurons in them
I kinda love this. It's like the consequences of the Nemetrix in reverse The feral mind of Terroranchula was too much for Phil that it fried him, but at the same time, Phil's mind as a human being infected Terroranchula so much it allowed it to think for the first time, making it smarter
Personal head canon/theory: When he said, "There hasn't been a Phil in this body for years." He doesn't mean the terroranchula has taken over his body, he means the 'Phil' that was Max partner has been dead for years, possibly since classic. All there left is the new Phil, one who will do anything to get what he wants whether it's by freeing null void aliens or absorbing mega watts.
@@01dominico helps that this was written by the guy who made Wolverine by introducing in a Hulk comic and they fight a wendigo who’s a side characters close friend or relative This guy has quite the niche RIP
I always viewed the whole "There hasn't been a Phil in this body in years" was a byproduct of being transformed with a clearly new and untested Nemetrix for as long as he was. The brief look we got at Khyber's Nemetrix-induced insanity wasn't too bad, possibly because of it being the "final" version of the Nemetrix. Meanwhile, it seemed like Phil was the first ever test subject. When Phil was transformed for too long into Terroranchula, we see him start smashing his head into the Rust Bucket and foaming at the mouth. Khyber was seemingly transformed for just as long into Tyrannopede, but we never see him doing anything similar.
The null void ones seemed feral to me Animals in reality arent feral tbh, Media just treats animals like they are all rabid beasts instead of living beings like the rest of us
This episode is one of my favourites that I forget about but every time I watch it, I love it even more. Love we get Phil once again and see the repercussions of something from the Malware saga which is pretty forgotten. And Phil is a pretty broken character from all of this.
When you said Ultimate Humungousaur and Frankenstrike were a nightmare to animate, I was reminded of the episode, And Then There Were None, where they both literally showed up and shared multiple frames together.
Ripjaws has armour as of now armour a fully enhanced body armour as if omniverse and sharp teeth and claws along with enhanced jumping now you see he rarely appeared in that show due to having lips slightly visible upper teeth despite huge lower teeth and jaw making him a nightmare to animate which is why he made virtually no appearances there
Phil mentions that his exposure to the nemetrix is what prevents Ben from turning into other aliens. Does that imply that the nemetrix is also forcing Ben to turn into aliens that can be counted?
29:20 “the Omnitrix is really fucking up this episode!” I know he’s referring to the animation, but out of context that’s every episode of the franchise
30:20 I’m thinking the creature could have been just another wild animal initially, but didn’t *replace* Phil’s mind so much as took control of it, absorbing and adapting to Phil’s knowledge and experience to gain the intelligence of a human while pushing his conscience away, which led it to being able to think like Phil occasionally due to the aforementioned knowledge and experience despite technically being a separate entity
@@user-iz7kc4ql7g Kinda, yeah! Only, they share the same intelligence, rather than one being lesser It’s debatable whether Phill’s conscience is still there or not, tho, but if he isn’t, it’d explain that line 🤔
It is also possible that the creature's wild instinct merges with Phil's mind to become more intelligent, like how Ben got smarter when he turns into Grey Matter or any other intelligent aliens.
I think overall: Frankenstrike is a Tank; Brainstorm is electricity but more in a magnetism way (if it makes sense) + an High inteligence; Amphibian is the acquatic electric alien (with telepathy if I rimember correctly); Shocksquatch is a fighter; Feedback absorbs energy and I like to think is the best alien in regards to "controlling" the electricity (different uses besides just attacking enemies with lightning). And Buzzshock is the funny/little one (Upchuck, Jury Rigg, Ditto, etc.) and with the capacity to enter electrical devices. 6 electrical alien but different overall in uses and designs. Fastrack and Xlr8 are just two and they couldn't even use different colors.
I don't hate Fastrack, but man they couldn't even give him one difference compared to XLR8. Like I don't know give him sharp claws, make him do Tazmania Devil tornado, something, even if basic to at least distinguish the two.
I think Fasttrack's difference is that he can't stop as easily as XLR8. It's why he couldn't stop that missile in Animo's final UA appearance that introduced Jury Rigg.
nicely put, even Eatle and Upchuck are different where one is durable tank and brawler while other is a complete glutton they should have given Fasttrack a different color scheme at the very least
I always took this episode as Phil became more, his mind breaking during the time he was left rotting. The amount of time he had his hybrid form in the null void making him want to stay that way, and renounce who he was. That final line from Max to Phil being Max coming to terms the Phil he knew was long gone.
My interpretation for the Phil situation is that Terrorantula's personality was boosted by the human brain that Phil had so it wasn't Phil anymore even if it was wearing Phil's skin.If I remember right, the Phil during the Rooters arc was just him trying to get under Grandpa Max's skin. It could be that the Nemetrix caused severe damage to Phil's human personality so the Terrorantula just took over Phil's brain because of the damage left Phil unable to resist the predator's personality spreading over, because it wasn't damaged it was just simpler until it had access to a human brain. So for the Terrorantula it was like it had been given a brain boost like Ben gets from becoming Gray Matter while Phil had brain damage. Oh and where the Terrorantula personality came from? I think it was basically a Big Chill situation where the Nemetrix had created a simulated personality to compensate for the predator's instincts.
The Side of the Fandom that considers too many Electric Aliens bad baffles Me. What, in a Universe over 1Million of species confirmed you think only one species should have electric powers ? 😆 *Try coming Up with 10K unique Powers.*
18:39 Frankenstrike can breathe in space, his body is electromagnetic, and he can interface with technology. Dr. Viktor was able to link himself with the teleportation ray and a rocket engine
@axelnilsson5124 That's not the point. When comparing the electrical aliens, we should take everything into consideration. Ben never uses Ampfibian's telepathy or intangibility, but those powers are still talked about when talking about Ampfibian
Honestly I can attribute Ben's weird food preferences to texture, as he is willing to try anything if its a smoothie so clearly the flavour isnt the issue. As an autistic person with similar food issues I can relate to the reluctance to try anything with a new texture or just finding certain food appearances repulsive, even if I would love the taste of it in a sauce or something
Regarding the "There hasn't been a Phil in this body for years" line, my theory is that the Philaranchula is not just a hybrid on a genetic level, but on a mental one as well. What we look at is another being, totally seperate from the two parties that were used to make it. Which is not the same as having the Terroranchula take over Phil's mind or Phil simply being taken over by hunger and the desire for power, but that's my opinion at least.
Eh I always take that line that Phil taken max as a sucker just like in the past like really Phil is a manipulating bastard so in some Regard Phil saying that line Pretty much saying The person that you knew is gone but hey That’s how I interpret that line
He also co-created his fellow X-Men, like Storm, Nightcrawler, Collusus, etc He also did work for DC, co-creating Swamp Thing, Amanda Waller and Lucius Fox, etc, being an editor of DC’s Watchmen comics, and also wrote for BATMAN the animated series, in addition to Ben 10 series Rip the legend, and also well deserved mention of Deadpool and Wolverine movie
I think the tarantula talks to max like he knows him because he actually does know him in a way. Since the Tarantula has taken over Phil’s body, he also got his memories. We can know that by the fact that he brings up Patalede being the first Alien plumber on earth plumber base.
19:05 Well, same with Frankenstrike. Frankenstrike's species seems to be _compatible_ with technology, as shown by Dr. Viktor literally plugging himself into rockets and cannons and making them work. And that actually also works with his Frankenstein's monster design, being able to add parts to his body and subsequently remove them.
my guess, phil and his spider thing form are so fused and messed up, it's a brand new entity. but with the shared memories and feelings. so this "phil" is still bitter and angry. yet it's still technically a new entity.
The "In this hemisphere" line could technically be paid off by the existence of Mad Ben. That universe has the Mad Max/Aussie stylings so it could totally be that the Mad Universe takes place on top of whatever equivalent of Undertown/ The Plumbers is down there instead of the USA/Bellwood.
Australia would be a good place for an alien settlement too since there’s so much open desert. Plus, there are already towns there that are almost completely underground to stay cool.
I think the reason why the terrorantuala was so good at mimicking phil was because i think it kinda fused with his memories and had somewhat sub concious familiarity and attachments and impulses like calling max partner and why he was so good at faking it since he knew EXCATLY how phil would act and his mannerisms so it could also be the reason why the terrorantula was so smart it fused with phils human intellegence kinda like split personality when one of the personalities fully takes over and absorbs all the memories and impulses and mannerism of the other but ultimately just in the background
Least xlr8 got one cool and original design. Fastrack just furry flash! And yes, four arms resembles goro, but red and four eyes, but knew about him first personally! Right all?
8:13 I feel this would have been more interesting if it just showed the electric aliens like how later in Mystery Incorporeal the omnitrix only has Ghostfreaks icon
Frankenstrike is also supposed to have electromagnetic & technokinetic powers. I guess he kinda used the latter when he hotwired the car, but it would have been cool if we could also see him do some Lode-Star/Magneto stuff, levitating a bunch of metal on the street and attacking Monster Phil with it.
What was left out of Frakenstrike's abilities is also the ability to integrate with technology. Like what Dr Viktor did by combining with a rocket thruster to chase after Ben in space or (if memory serves) he had a make shift cannon between his tesla coils
I think Phil was simply in alien form for so long that the alien finally gained its own consciousness which took control of the body. Similar situations happened with Ben and some of his aliens, enough time has probably passed that Phil is practically gone and the alien uses his memories to trick the characters
I feel bad for Max. Having your best friend betray you then you have to send him to hell of a dimension. Then he comes back in his life, only to be totally insane. Then Max has to send his best friend back to the null void
Then the next time he shows up, he’s working with a delusional mad scientist to kill your grandson, reveals your students were assassins created by said madman, and that one of your partners wasn’t real. Phil was underdeveloped in the Rooters arc especially since they didn’t capitalize on the potential parallels he had with Kevin in this episode with him being recruited by Servantis.
The strong emotional core, plot, and the actual weight to all the touching moments made this feel like a UAF episode jacked up with OV's insane art and sound design.
In the case of whether this is really Phil or not, I think it's like a "The Fly" situation. He remembers being Phil, there are aspects of Phil that carries over, but his DNA has been so mutated with the alien DNA that he's become something else entirely. His brain chemistry has been altered to the point he is genuinely something else entirely. He's just able to shift between forms as well as retain the ability to communicate. Spider-Phil is as different to Phil as Brundlefly is to Brundle. And regarding Ben's view of Kevin vs Phil, there are different factors at play regarding the circumstances. Kevin was first a runaway kid who's psyche was affected by absorbing energy (not absolved of actions, but it is a factor). When he went Ultimate Kevin, his power level made him objectively more dangerous than Phil, which warranted more lethal force in Ben's mind, so Ben's murder quest wasn't because he didn't have hope or because Kevin didn't deserve a second chance, it was because he was such a threat to everyone that there seemed to be no other way. Phil on the other hand was a grown adult who willingly chose to throw away every value he had as a plumber for selfish gain. Kevin used to live on the streets while Phil was thriving off releasing dangerous aliens just to capture them again. Phil didn't need to release the aliens to make money, but he chose to out of greed. That big difference is why Ben has less sympathy for Phil in this episode (but not ready to put him down for good).
Honestly one of, if not the most underrated episode of the franchise, super fun watch, nice comparison of electric aliens, Buzzshock unlock being a payoff after 7 years... Didn't expect it to get a perfect score but I'm so glad it did
31:51 I think it's that the Tarauntola is really controlling Phill by basically taking over his conscience and the next scene either Phill regained some conscience or the predator just took over Phill for so long that he took it's memories and experiences too which it kinda makes it sad since Phill is basically in a fate worse than death
13:38 it's also been some time since the whole Kevin incident. So Max could've learned from it. Knowing there are other ways to deal with this kinda thing
30:37 I think that what he means is that Phil’s personality has sort of fused with the predator DNA. That’s why his form doesn’t look exactly like the predator and his kind of humanoid because it’s a mix of both human and the predator DNA so feels personality is also fused with the predator that’s why Phil hasn’t been in his body for years, because he’s no longer Phil that’s just what I think anyway
The "There hasn't been a Phil in this body for years" can still make sence with what we see in the episode, there really hasn't been a Phil in the body for years, he was crushed by the alien but his proximty with Max and the Terroranchula being weakened by his fight against feedback allowed Phil to fight for control. Enough for him to ask for help, enough for the Terroranchula to learn about the link between Phil and Max. And of course the loss of control with every other fight where the alien manage to take energy from Ben. As for his reappearance during the rooter arc, we know Servantis can affect the mind directly, giving the control back to Phil from the outside.
My headcanon for Phil is sort of that just like he became more monstrous and animalistic due to becoming the Terrorantula, the opposite happened for the Terrorantula consciousness which due to being part of Phil slowly grew more intelligent and sapient until it replaced Phil entirely
Probably won't be seen, but here's my theory on Phil: A) the fusion also fused mind and personality. This amalgamation has Phil's memories, but just instinctively knew that it wasn't Phil B) this fusion of the nemetrix preserves predators instincts. And in classic series, Phil "hunted" through manipulation, by releasing the null void aliens and making himself seem like a hero that way. Nothing says this amalgamation doesn't get any of the human hunting traits. And in our worse ways, empathy is a tool of manipulation
My theory on the whole Phill is not there anymore is that is a parasitic version of the Ghost Freak situation. In more simple terms this is like the situation in Classic where when Ghost Freak would be in control once Ben transformed into him and even forced Ben to turn into Ghost Freak. But unlike Ghost Freak Phil’s transformation could not separate from him and was connected to his human DNA so the transformations personality just overpowered his human one after his years of isolation in the Null Void
I think the way Phil was portrayed in the Rooters Arc is related to Servantis. Since we do know that Servantis is capable of altering memories of those around him, so its possible that he did something similar to Phil so that he can be more loyal.
I like to imagine terrorphil was like a hulk/banner situation until Proctor Servantis found him and used Kevin to stabilize his forms, however doing this combined their minds/thoughts which resulted in a new being, meaning the phil hasnt been in this body is both literal and metaphorical
I think Phil's permanent form is because we only ever saw him transform into Terroranchula, so for all we know...that was the only form he had ever assumed in the Nemetrix but would have been cool if he had assumed other forms and you'd be able to see those traits in his permanent form also frankenstrike does still canonically have his...I think Ban-like Regeneration we just never see it but do like how he's so far the only electric alien aside from Brainstorm that I can remember who is capable of manipulating technology fairly easily the idea of Phil causing Ben to only have electric aliens is neat, since it probably plays of Terroranchula Phil's ability to absorb electricity & energy, he's forcing the Omnitrix to bring out aliens that produce electricity in some form no doubt if the episode was a bit longer, we could have potentially seen Upgrade & Nanomech pop up
You were mentioning how every electric alien has a diffetent appliance of their electricity (pun definitely intended) and only said agility and combat for shocksquatch, so i'd like to add to that. There was one episode with a female gimlinopithecus (shocksquatch's species), and she electrocuted innanimate objects, and then used some form of electrokinesis to lift them. I'm pretty sure that only shocksquatch has displayed something like this, so we have: Ampfibian - semi-aquatic, intangibility, flying, mind reading (through reading electric signals in the brain) Buzzshock - duplication, electroportation, electric manipulation (like with the force field) Feedback - energy absorption, radio-wave "scent" tracking, flight/floating/levitation (through sending a continuous shock towards the ground) Frankenstrike - enhanced intelligence, regeneration, advanced machinery skills and electric manipulation and alterations to said machinery (basically, he's a mechanic) Shocksquatch - electrokinesis, agility
Terrorantula Phil is probably a case of personality absorption. The Terrorantula part of him absorbed the intelligence and sapience of Phil, creating a new being who is as sapient as Phil was but with the evolved version of the primal intelligence and cunning the Terrorantula already had as a predator. It isn't Phil, but can tap into his personality, memories, and mannerisms to act just like him. However, it has no emotional attachment to the memories. In short, it absorbed Phil to become something more than an average Terrorantula.
My guess is the Terarantula absorbed Phil's intelligence, explaining 1. How it would know Max and be able to recall Phil's memories. Along with 2. How it got so much smarter. So it's kinda like the Thing in a way. A monster that absorbed the body and memories of it's host. Much like how the dog Thing wasn't as intelligent as the human Things.
I'm guessing Phil was psy-jacked. The monster took over his mind, but got to keep all his memories. Phil's ego has been replaced with the monster's, so we can conclude that a feral beast was suddenly given human memories and experiences. What is it to do with this new-found resource? Well, it will keep doing what it always has... business as usual. It will use its natural attributes to survive and feed. In this case, Phil's memories are just another attribute, a tool to access for survival.
@@14oliverhedgehog74 because all of them are different, Fasttrack is literally a bootleg XLR8, even Eatle and Upchuck are different where one is more durable and brawler while one is a complete glutton
@@14oliverhedgehog74but that has never been shown only told by external sources thus it is irrelevant as then we have to say that Upchuck can beat Alien X because an external source said he could eat him Show don't tell
This is the first Breaking Down I've watched without my kitty, she passed away about a week ago. I miss her every day. She used to come and ask for affection and food while I trained, and in return she kept me company when I watched something, we watched monster movies/series and Ben 10. I'm going to finish watching this Breaking Down series in honor of her. I love you, Fofinha, shine brightly in the sky.
26:05 I mean, it could be a lot of that too, but also Kevin was a kid and a teenager. Phil is a grown ass man with these traits But like you said it could be that Ben just sees him in different light than his grandpa
Also true. Phil, unlike Kevin, was an adult, and one in galactic authority abusing Plumber tech for his own ends and was willing to send Ben, who was only a little kid, into the Null Void. It's easy to see why he doesn't want to give him the full benefit of the doubt.
Love characters with electrical powers! I thought this episode was fun even though my boy Brainstorm was excluded. Love that funny bit at the start with Fasttrack and XLR8 there, Kuro.
1:15 Personally, I don't care, I like Fastrack but he's XLR8 without a tail. They're skinny, black and blue, have a high pitched voice and only has super speed. The electric aliens have unique traits (As you said): Brainstorm's enhanced neural energy gives him intelligence, Shocksquatch and Frankenstrike have strength while Frankenstrike as a bonus of electromagnetism (And possibly intelligence [Why doesn't Ben him all the time? He'd be my go to]), Radd has telepathy and body-to-energy conversion, Megawatt has energy body-to-energy conversion and self-replication and Feedback has unlimited coolness and energy absorption/redirection.
If the thing controlling Phil's body seems to have his memories, my assumption is that it's just controlling his body & has access to his memories, or maybe it retains aspects of his personality even if he's technically "dead."
I don’t think Phil was ever “dead.” His mind was probably too damaged to full control the power he had obtained thanks to the Nemetrix. His mind probably split between the Phil side of himself and the beastly side, but deep down he was always there and partially responsible for everything he did (as evidenced by some of the things that this “new Phil” said throughout the episode). Servantis probably became a sort of Kwarrel figure to Phil, helping him to properly control his other form, when they eventually meet.
9:26, actually we have seen Chromastone do that, when he was fighting Gwen at the end of the Ultimate Kevin arc, he placed his hand on Gwen's shield and absorbed it
I find it funny how Ben has so many electric aliens that they could make an entire episode just with them while he only has at most one or two of the other elements.
As someone studying electrical engineering (undergraduate), I've been waiting to have this discussion. I think all the electric aliens can have a little nuance to their electrical powers, aside from general secondary ones, and I think the best way to do that is to compare these aliens to various circuit elements, and other things. Buzzshock's design is quite literally a battery, making it a voltage source. I think this translates well in powering the null void gun, but feels a little awkward when it comes to traversing through power lines. Batteries themselves have a constant voltage, or electromotive force. They can only push so hard, and it's more difficult against highly resistive (or generally bugger) targets. The fight scene at the end is unintentionally genius with this, as voltages are combined when flowing in the same area, so Buzzshock channeling the energy of the other Megawatts works as combining the voltages. Amphibian is a current source, although that's mostly based on the name (Amp). Current is the flow of electricity, and with Amphibian being a constant source of it, probably has the highest capacity to kill, as its the current that causes more damage to our systems. I think it'd be interesting if beneath his flesh, current was flowing rapidly like a plasma ball, meaning any gash would turn an underwater fight into a toaster bath. Most current sources still require an external voltage, so it would make sense for Amphibian to maybe need a power box, but that's whatever. I think a neat restriction would be for Amphibian to not be able to charge himself, or absorb electricity, it should have to flow out, essentially making him a shorted wire. Feedback is a capacitor, it's too obvious. He absorbs electricity, and makes a bigger bang. It's cool that he surfs along power lines, but a cool restriction would be that he has to absorb something before he can expel it. Compared to Chromastone, Feedback should only handle electricity, while Chromastone is more of a catch all with electrical, thermal, prismatic energy, and mana I guess. Frankenstrike should be a living lightning rod. Of all the aliens, this one should not have his own intrinsic power source. He should be slow and hefty, powering up from a lightning strike to his back or something. He should be struck before he can channel anything with his electro-magnetism. Shocksquath is just static electricity. That's it. As for the techno-organic forms like Upgrade and Nanomech, I think there forms of electric powers should be more of an overload, where they need to cool down. Nanomech's gimmick is more being small than being a blaster, so it's a whatever idea. Then Brainstorm. Mechanically, should be the same as Upgrade and Nanomech, but maybe with a bit of Amphibian in there. I honestly don't know what to do with it. Maybe a catch all of all of these, just not as powerful to make up for his brains, idk. I'm not saying these are definitive by any means, just some ideas to differentiate them a bit more, which should be helpful with much more consistent writing *cough cough* 5YL *cough cough*
Honestly it would be cool if they did the regeneration ability with Frankenstrike like straight up pull a Havoc from Mortal Kombat and let him pull off his arm, charge it up with electricity and beat someone with it like a club or pull off his head use it like flail then stick it back on. Like make him an electric swish army knife zombie warrior that would be sick.

ULTIMATE KEVIN 11?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hey The Ink Tank I Picked The Story To Continue After Omniverse.
Apparently consuming things through a straw dampens some of the flavor. So there may be a credit to the whole smoothie thing. His mom and Grandpa Max make very flavorful exotic things which overwhelms Ben's taste buds. Smoothies and their straw don't hit so hard.
That's very interesting!
It’s also probably a texture thing, eating literal worms is probably gonna feel a lot worse than drinking like a worm flavored smoothie

I thought the same thing! Similar to how Tiffin was messing with it, forcing Ben to stay as Rath.
@@TheInkTank
I think it makes sense since the Nemetrix was made using an incomplete Omnitrix schematic as its base. It could be that the Nemetrix is technically tied to the same database, or that it has a signal which interferes with the Omnitrix transformation feature in a similar way to how Albedo's Omnitrix copy caused a feedback loop with the recalibrated Omnitrix.
Thematically this just makes a lot of sense too. Making the Nemetrix or the Wielder a predator to the Omnitrix and Ben as a whole.
Great catch
But then Ben uses Astrodactyl in season 4's finale to escape all the predators anyway lol
Despite there being so many electric aliens in the show, kevin was actually the first person to ever use electricity in the show
Wasn't it the megawhatts
i hate that kevin never used his electricity post-mutation in classic
@@igg7865I wish he used it in omniverse since he could cannonically control himself in omniverse. It would have also been good foreshadowing for him revealing he could during the rooters arc
@@igg7865I would've loved to see that.
Kevin didn’t use electricity it’s his osmosion powers
NGL i like the ''Phil is no Kevin'' line because it goes to show that NOT everyone is redeemable. While yes perhaps the line means way less if we assume Phil is not there anymore but at the end of the day it goes to show not all evil people can just one day become friends. Kevin was an exception, he was a monster but he was a kid who had way too much problems with his life and having Kwarrel as a mentor and growing up in relatively better conditions after leaving Null void even if through being a con man has mellowed him out and through that he was able to be redeemed thanks to Ben and Gwen. But not everyone is Kevin, not everyone can be saved and genuinely atone the same way
That's how I always felt about that line.

ua-cam.com/video/H4N5eFbLl9A/v-deo.htmlsi=8iXkhQpOj6Bss0bO
Same
Kevin had his faults, but it was all rooted (heh) to his upbringing, molded by his trauma and unfortunate consequences of his powers, and the way he thought the world viewed him made him believe he was a monster and so he just embraced it up until Kwarrel showed him a better path and Ben and Gwen helped him walk down that path further
Phil _CHOSE_ to do bad things.
Not to mention Phil was never a good person to begin with and his condition stems from the consequences of his own actions
on the food thing, my personal headcanon for why ben doesn't like a lot of others' cooking but likes those... *questionable* smoothie flavors is down to having problems with textures in foods. that's something i struggle with as well, so it feels relatable to me. having things basically reduced to a slurry does help on occasion
and that's how tastes work in general
That would also explain Max liking exotic food, after so many years on space eating alien food 😅
Saaame. Like, I can't potatoes (mashed or solid) or apples, but apple pudding or other potato produces go down the gullet no problem.
So Ben has the autism traits of texture stimuli........huh that does explain a lot
I like to think it's kinda like "not liking cheese on it's own but liking cheese when it's with other kinds of food" deal but in reverse. Ben probably does like weird food and especially weird smoothie mixtures, but he doesn't like it when it's too much of so many things at once, like Max and Sandra's cooking
like, you can like a regular burger with some other strange piece of food with it that no one expects but you like how it tastes, but you're not gonna like a burger when it's been stuffed with all manner of food that it's barely recognizable and edible
Frankenstrike having detachable limbs that can move independently would be really cool and a great display of his electric powers.
Ben not having an alien that can throw a rocket punch is crazy
@@edgargaebolg9307 well in the reboot...

36:32 “my exposure to the nematrix is messing with your little watch “ do you think that’s why when Kyber shows up he always gets the aliens that have predators (edit: thanks for the likes ps Kuro what do you think of this theory?)
Interesting theory
That theory makes me not want to slam my head on the desk every time the nemetrix is in an episode, so I’ll accept it
I've been saying this for months
One of the key differences between human and animal brains is the sheer amount of neurons in them
and that we have self consciousness but they dont
I kinda love this. It's like the consequences of the Nemetrix in reverse
The feral mind of Terroranchula was too much for Phil that it fried him, but at the same time, Phil's mind as a human being infected Terroranchula so much it allowed it to think for the first time, making it smarter
Personally i think its all this plus the nemetrix messing with his head when he had it, possibly making his go insane

Rook not realising Phil is his name is probably because Khyber called him "a Phil" in Season 1, so he assumed Phil isn't a name
God how could I forget the banger line "a lower life from such as a Phil"
Khyber did suffer some brain damage, but losing the ability to say "Nemetrix" pretty tame in comparison to Phil losing his identity.
Having turned feral by transforming into animalistic aliens never made sense as ben never had a issue with wildmutt

Ripjaws has armour as of now armour a fully enhanced body armour as if omniverse and sharp teeth and claws along with enhanced jumping now you see he rarely appeared in that show due to having lips slightly visible upper teeth despite huge lower teeth and jaw making him a nightmare to animate which is why he made virtually no appearances there
One of the best Ben 10 eps ever
Phil mentions that his exposure to the nemetrix is what prevents Ben from turning into other aliens. Does that imply that the nemetrix is also forcing Ben to turn into aliens that can be counted?
I'm sure they mentioned it at some point. Works anyway if they didn't
Well it did turn Ben into Ball weevils predator at one point.
29:20 “the Omnitrix is really fucking up this episode!”
I know he’s referring to the animation, but out of context that’s every episode of the franchise
So it become its own personality,..on some Bruce Banner and Hulk
@@user-iz7kc4ql7g Kinda, yeah! Only, they share the same intelligence, rather than one being lesser
It’s debatable whether Phill’s conscience is still there or not, tho, but if he isn’t, it’d explain that line 🤔
It is also possible that the creature's wild instinct merges with Phil's mind to become more intelligent, like how Ben got smarter when he turns into Grey Matter or any other intelligent aliens.
@@AundieVue True 🤔
That would also make sense, as the Nemitrix is derived from the Omnitrix
I think overall:
Frankenstrike is a Tank;
Brainstorm is electricity but more in a magnetism way (if it makes sense) + an High inteligence;
Amphibian is the acquatic electric alien (with telepathy if I rimember correctly);
Shocksquatch is a fighter;
Feedback absorbs energy and I like to think is the best alien in regards to "controlling" the electricity (different uses besides just attacking enemies with lightning).
Amphibian is the electric version of big chill
I don't hate Fastrack, but man they couldn't even give him one difference compared to XLR8. Like I don't know give him sharp claws, make him do Tazmania Devil tornado, something, even if basic to at least distinguish the two.
@@majesticgothitelle1802......I completely forgot he could do that, but yeah there is also that.
I think Fasttrack's difference is that he can't stop as easily as XLR8. It's why he couldn't stop that missile in Animo's final UA appearance that introduced Jury Rigg.
nicely put, even Eatle and Upchuck are different where one is durable tank and brawler while other is a complete glutton
they should have given Fasttrack a different color scheme at the very least
*Try coming Up with 10K unique Powers.*
I have the exact same argument about Fasttrack
The fandom when they learn about convergent evolution:
@@axelnilsson5124My problem with Fasttrack is that they didn't do enough to make him stand out from XLR8.
@@mechajay3358 but with over a million aliens Fasttrack would be one that doesn’t stand out in comparison to Xlr8
Also it’s like, using electricity as a defense mechanism is an irl thing that has evolved multiple times here on earth.
18:39 Frankenstrike can breathe in space, his body is electromagnetic, and he can interface with technology. Dr. Viktor was able to link himself with the teleportation ray and a rocket engine
But he never actually uses those powers in Omniverse so for people who only watched Omniverse he doesn’t stand out compared to the others
Len wein is the goat, he created swamp thing, wrote one of the best hulk run, co creator of Wolverine, and so on. his work are such spectacular
He also co-created his fellow X-Men, like Storm, Nightcrawler, Collusus, etc
He also did work for DC, co-creating Swamp Thing, Amanda Waller and Lucius Fox, etc, being an editor of DC’s Watchmen comics, and also wrote for BATMAN the animated series, in addition to Ben 10 series
Rip the legend, and also well deserved mention of Deadpool and Wolverine movie

So it’s like Norman and The Green Goblin in Raimi’s Spider-Man as well as No Way Home
16:09 the fact that both Frankenstrike and Ultimate Humungousaur show up in And Then There Were None...
13:59 makes me wish Phil transformed into more predators to become an amalgamation of nemetrix predators
That would REALLY be like the Ultimate Kevin Arc... though it would also be awesome!
Fasttrack doesn't deserve all the hate to be honest and Brainstorm is GOATED in Omnitverse despite his short appearance
We needed Brainstorm in Omniverse a lot more!
Agreed
@TheInkTank, blame toys for that. It's why we also barely saw Chromastone, Goop, Lodestar, and Swampfire (despite how popular he is).
Least xlr8 got one cool and original design. Fastrack just furry flash! And yes, four arms resembles goro, but red and four eyes, but knew about him first personally! Right all?
They make those ones rare so they rise in value and since the demand is high people are willing yo pay the insane amount for them.
8:13 I feel this would have been more interesting if it just showed the electric aliens like how later in Mystery Incorporeal the omnitrix only has Ghostfreaks icon
Yeah that would've been cool!
Or he could scale a smooth skyscraper
its cool how OV's Phil has both the classic plumber uniform and omniverse pumber uniform stitched together.
What was left out of Frakenstrike's abilities is also the ability to integrate with technology. Like what Dr Viktor did by combining with a rocket thruster to chase after Ben in space or (if memory serves) he had a make shift cannon between his tesla coils
24:17 I thought about this too. The Terroranchula also gained Phill’s intelligence and knowledge too.
I think Phil was simply in alien form for so long that the alien finally gained its own consciousness which took control of the body. Similar situations happened with Ben and some of his aliens, enough time has probably passed that Phil is practically gone and the alien uses his memories to trick the characters
25:18 Missed opportunity in this episode for Ben to use Brainstorm later after this and chew out Blukic and Driba.
I thought I’d just randomly point out that Kuro started the breakdowns over 3 years ago.
Yes Sir Ben 10 Breakdown Time!
Honestly one of, if not the most underrated episode of the franchise, super fun watch, nice comparison of electric aliens, Buzzshock unlock being a payoff after 7 years... Didn't expect it to get a perfect score but I'm so glad it did
That last little moment between Ben and Max made me tear up. It's a rare soft moment for Max, and Ben's response was perfect.
Yeah, like he saw what Gwen was able to do to fix Kevin and realized they could always be another way.
30:37 I think that what he means is that Phil’s personality has sort of fused with the predator DNA. That’s why his form doesn’t look exactly like the predator and his kind of humanoid because it’s a mix of both human and the predator DNA so feels personality is also fused with the predator that’s why Phil hasn’t been in his body for years, because he’s no longer Phil that’s just what I think anyway
lol watched a little more and that’s his own theory 😂
10:23 There's 3 Robs and all of them are goated.

Ben shorted out the motor/Battery
Wow, if Ben kept saying "going hero" it'd be even cooler to imagine Danny and Ben as counterparts
Ben:Going Hero!
Danny:Going Ghost!
Probably won't be seen, but here's my theory on Phil:
A) the fusion also fused mind and personality. This amalgamation has Phil's memories, but just instinctively knew that it wasn't Phil
B) this fusion of the nemetrix preserves predators instincts.
"Aw fuck my thoracic vertebrae"
Spine!
29:29 IT'S AMPFIBIAN🗣️🔥‼️🥱😪💤💤
I like to imagine terrorphil was like a hulk/banner situation until Proctor Servantis found him and used Kevin to stabilize his forms, however doing this combined their minds/thoughts which resulted in a new being, meaning the phil hasnt been in this body is both literal and metaphorical
I think Phil's permanent form is because we only ever saw him transform into Terroranchula, so for all we know...that was the only form he had ever assumed in the Nemetrix
but would have been cool if he had assumed other forms and you'd be able to see those traits in his permanent form
also frankenstrike does still canonically have his...I think Ban-like Regeneration we just never see it
but do like how he's so far the only electric alien aside from Brainstorm that I can remember who is capable of manipulating technology fairly easily
the idea of Phil causing Ben to only have electric aliens is neat, since it probably plays of Terroranchula Phil's ability to absorb electricity & energy, he's forcing the Omnitrix to bring out aliens that produce electricity in some form
no doubt if the episode was a bit longer, we could have potentially seen Upgrade & Nanomech pop up
yeah it was when Psychobos tested the Nemetrix on him to attack Ben in the flashback of "Predators and Prey part 2"
Me preguntó cómo hubiera sido como tyranoppeda
I feel like phil is truly gone but the terrarantula still has his body and mind, so he still might have phils memories
14:51 Ben says he's going Feedback, dialled in FourArms, turns into Frankenstrike
Just like in "A Jolt from the Past", he wanted XLR8, picked Four Arms and got Clockwork.
@@SecretMagician I think it was Humangosaur instead of Four Arms
Is Dead Rob just gonna stay there for the rest of Spooky Season?
That'd be hilarious!
Oops nvm the cleanup crew came before the episode reaction
Bruh I just noticed him there
You were mentioning how every electric alien has a diffetent appliance of their electricity (pun definitely intended) and only said agility and combat for shocksquatch, so i'd like to add to that. There was one episode with a female gimlinopithecus (shocksquatch's species), and she electrocuted innanimate objects, and then used some form of electrokinesis to lift them. I'm pretty sure that only shocksquatch has displayed something like this, so we have:
Ampfibian - semi-aquatic, intangibility, flying, mind reading (through reading electric signals in the brain)
Buzzshock - duplication, electroportation, electric manipulation (like with the force field)
Feedback - energy absorption, radio-wave "scent" tracking, flight/floating/levitation (through sending a continuous shock towards the ground)
Frankenstrike - enhanced intelligence, regeneration, advanced machinery skills and electric manipulation and alterations to said machinery (basically, he's a mechanic)
Shocksquatch - electrokinesis, agility
Yes! Breakdown Saturday! And breaking down one of my favorite episodes, Max's Monster. And it's perfect for October. Good morning everyone.
Good afternoon/evening back
7:03 it's because Phil turned into that thing when Malware, Psychobos, and Khyber tested the Nemetrix on Phil to attack 11 year old Ben
Oh My God he's gone Super Terrorantula
Woke up and got 5yl announcements & a new breakdown, great start to my morning
19:30 Kuro vs a tree...
32:12 i feel like if this was his one appearance, no explanation is fine. But an explanation is needed when he returns as part of the rooters
Maybe Servantis did something to his mind when he found Phil to fix him up.
1:06 Like Upchuck and Eat-
"YOU MEAN LIKE FASTTRACK AND XLR8?"
That works, too.
Those 2 get jerked on by fans but 6 electrical aliens don't?, oh yeah that tottally makes sense 😑
Upchuck and Eatle have a lot of nuances that make the two pretty unique compared to Fastrack and XLR8
@@14oliverhedgehog74 because all of them are different, Fasttrack is literally a bootleg XLR8, even Eatle and Upchuck are different where one is more durable and brawler while one is a complete glutton
@@theamazingspooderman2697 uh fasttrack at least is stronger
@@14oliverhedgehog74but that has never been shown only told by external sources thus it is irrelevant as then we have to say that Upchuck can beat Alien X because an external source said he could eat him
Show don't tell
I personally always wished they named Franken Strike, Frightning Volt
That should have been Ben 23s name for him as it is similar to his name of the alien
Sorry for you mate, stay strong
26:05
I mean, it could be a lot of that too, but also Kevin was a kid and a teenager. Phil is a grown ass man with these traits
But like you said it could be that Ben just sees him in different light than his grandpa
Also true. Phil, unlike Kevin, was an adult, and one in galactic authority abusing Plumber tech for his own ends and was willing to send Ben, who was only a little kid, into the Null Void. It's easy to see why he doesn't want to give him the full benefit of the doubt.
My guy, it has been 5 minutes and im on the floor laughing. Your editing is top notch 10/10
1:42 - Comment section kuro in the background is too much😂
THIS EPISODE IS SO GOATED
Definitely deserves the score, really great seeing Phil come back and see Ben and Max bond at the end.
As I kid, I used to question why the Terroranchula was constantly smiling for no reason rather than it just being the shape of its jaw.
18:23 Buzzshock can also absorb electricity and posses tech
Also Ampfibian still has those powers, Ben just doesnt use them
Oh hey you were that guy from T0mixarts's comment section
9:26, actually we have seen Chromastone do that, when he was fighting Gwen at the end of the Ultimate Kevin arc, he placed his hand on Gwen's shield and absorbed it
Mana and electricity isn’t the same kind of energy
I find it funny how Ben has so many electric aliens that they could make an entire episode just with them while he only has at most one or two of the other elements.
This was a shockingly good episode. An interesting premise, a sense of intrigue, lots of action, and it really gets into the character's heads.
Wooo I’m so happy there’s a breakdown on my birthday!
Happy Birthday!
@@TheInkTank Ty ! It’s past midnight here in Australia but my birthday is the 6th ( aka now )
One of my favourite re-watch episodes
I love the 5yl intro it looks super cool it reminds me of the Generator Rex and Ben 10 crossover.
