- my tribute to the magnificent Rachel Alexandra. I thought it was about time I made one for her, everyone else has lol. And since she won't be racing again in 2009, I won't have missed out any races yet. Can't wait to see what she does next year, I really want to go to the Breeders Cup next year just to see her!! Music was inspired by a fantastic Sea the Stars video which is no longer available unfortunatly, I can only asume that Racing UK claimed the footage. Anyways... please enjoy!!

Poetry in motion. She moves just like Secretariat. He had a stride of 26 feet, hers is 24. The average horse is 18-20. Gives me goosebumps. Excellent.

I really love this video. I cried a little at the end. 3-year old fillies are not supposed to have the season she had in 2009. To do all that while still not fully developed is frightening...in such a good way. It makes me look forward with eager anticipation to 2010. It could be monstrous.
This horse gives me the feeling I had when watching Go For Wand. That filly had the same combination of ability and heart.
I can't describe my words Rachel Alexandra reminds me so much about Ruffian to me she brought joy back to the racetrack and to believe that fillies are just as good as the boys. I get chills every time I watch her races. She was and is still an amazing beautiful horse to this day. Rachel reminded us that racing isn't just about winning she showed us anything is possible if you work very hard. I love you RA
This is a video for the ages, gives me goosebumps, I was there for the Martha W. the Fantasy, and the Woodward, so I am proud to be able to say I got to see this incredible filly Live.

it doesn't matter who's the better horse when they race Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta will always be great racehorses no matter what i love all of the racehorses that raced in the passed. There are always new racehorses looking forward to be champions

Good lord...Watching the Oaks gives me goosebumps every single time.
So spot on...I have said that over and over again. Even on the 2009 Horse of the Year montage made for the Eclipse Award Broadcast, this fact is mirrored. Rachel had tons of highlights, while Zenyatta's montage consisted of, "her own compelling series of racing leading up to the Classic." That's right...one race. A one race highlight reel. So when Volponi won the the BC Classic, he should have gotten HOY because he had a single race highlight (insert sarcasm.) Thank you for your common sense!

I only got to see the Woodward live in person, but it was soooo worth the trip. The crowd was electric! I knew from the start given the suicidal fractions that she would be in for a tough stretch run. After the arduous campaign all year, after all the record breaking and performances NOT normal for a 3-year old filly, she still staved off the closers. It totally set up for them, but they could not pass. Every horse that challenged her early WILTED. They staggered home, but she soared :-)
I just came back to this... and it's still magnificent. Of course, you've got help from your subject matter, but there's so much love behind this that I just totally bawled again. :3

I like both Zenyatta and RA but I have to say, I just love the way RA run her races. She makes them look so effortless. A lot of her race Calvin just pat her down with his hand while she is running. Just image if he would have asked her to run in a lot of these races, records would be shatter.

Goosebumps, her 3 yr old campaign is in the top 5 alltime for 3 yr old colt or philly, and dominated so easily, one close race with macho again, the big grey was very good but that was the single off day she ever had and still won, id have no problem racing her against the best of all time, the best of all time would have their hands full catching her at anything under a 1 an 1/4 miles. Secretariot and Big Ci may have just nipped her at the wire in all their primes but ya never know if they could have got past this Godly speciman.
Yes, they are talking about a series of races where they will meet this year. First one will more than likely be at Louisville distaff, day of the Ky. oaks. Should be an exciting year!
I think a better song for Z is "Perfect". This video still gives me goosebumps.

No one knows that for sure... Ruffian broke her leg when she bore out and hit the gate in the match-race, but her speed and heart carried her down the back-stretch... in was unpreventable.

The best part is that my OTTB Touch of Success reminds me everyday of Rachel Alexandra because i swear they have the same eye though my mare had no interest in racing her dad is Touch Gold and her mom is Never Fail by Holy Bull and she also has a now two year old half sister that sold for $300,000 meanwhile my mare loves jumping!!!LOL i love my little mare

You are right, she isn't "like-Ruffian". She is more sound than she was and I think better. Rachel even broke Ruffian's record this year in the Mother Goose for longest length of victory and Rachel has done things this year NO FILLY HAS EVER DONE BEFORE.

Actually, she has a 24-25 ft stride according to Calvin. He says CD has 10 foot panels and she took 2-1/2 panels per stride easily.

@pavalko2303 This can go both ways though... Since we don't know Ruffians limits,she could have gone on to win even more races and further her legacy, but she could also have gone suddenly downhill and never won another race. That would make for two completely different cases, one where she is the greatest racer of all time, and the other where she was still great, but not the greatest.
Not saying I think the second scenario would have happened, but that's just another perspective.

i am going to stick my head out and say RA is not and will not ever be better than ruffian, only because we dont know what ruffian could of done. But any way this was a good video but i would have to say i am a Zenyatta fan and always will be
No, she isn't like Ruffian. Ruffian broke records every time she ran, but she was too fragile to go on as she did, what with being injured as a juvenile and then what happened as a three-year-old. Ruffian may have been greatness manifest, but she never could have even sustained Rachel Alexandra's campaign.

Yet the supposed "Queen" of California, the supposed greatest of all time NEVER RAN IN THE BEST RACES IN CALIFORNIA!!! Yes, that's right, and you cannot factually deny this. The Breeder's Cup are not California races and have been held all over the U.S. and Canada since its inception in '84. Aside from waiting to run in a big race at year's end. the Zen camp avoided every major open race in Cali (Pacific Classic, Hollywood Gold Cup, etc.) Who was running scared again? FACTS prove team ZEN was...
