Thank you! I understand your confusion. The reason for why it is this way round is due to the discontinuity on the lagging strand. The polymerase has to work in a 5' to 3' direction, but can only work after the primer is laid down. Therefore, since the DNA is unzipping from the right-hand side in this diagram, the new DNA will be rightwards of the primer. If you rewatch the video it should become clear!

Why does the primase enzyme lay down RNA as a primer rather than DNA
It's just the process! DNA cannot' be laid down directly, it requires primer.
