    The best part about his style of teaching is the storyline and narrative visuals. He doesn’t just point out and explain, he makes you UNDERSTAND the whole biological process regardless how abstract the concept is. He paints a picture that you will remember, and that in itself, is a true talent. 💯

    I know this is an old video but I really want to say thanks. I'm literally going to cry omg I always hated biochemistry in my veterinary medicine studies but I finally got it and your video is so detailed yet so understandable. I searched forever to find videos that explain this topic/ Genetics and include all the information they test us on. Your channel is like a gift from god. Especially with the clinical references omg it's so helpful to connect the dots. I`m so happy, sitting in my room crying happy tears. I never knew biochemistry could be enjoyable but watching you explain everything is so much fun. Asking "me" questions and knowing the answers repeading the stuff by watching and being able to remember it omg you saved me. Lots of love from Germany

    Hi thank you so much for this lecture!
    There is one thing I wanted to clarify, I hope I can ask about it here.
    So when you were talking about the leading and lagging strand I just wanted to clarify that the Okazaki fragments are in fact present in both top and bottom parental strand. Is this correct?
    What I understood from the video is that the leading strands are found in the top parental strand while lagging strands are found in the bottom parental strand as the synthesis occurs 5' to 3'.
    But the replication is bi-directional so this means Okazaki fragments must be present in both parental strands right? Am I correct in assuming that when you were talking about the leading and the lagging strands, you were just looking at one direction of replication for simplicity sake to explain the concept?
    I hope what I said makes sense. I just wanted to make sure my thought process isn't wrong.
    Thank you!

    • @AbCd-kq3ky
      @AbCd-kq3ky 2 роки тому

      You're absolutely right, no strand is truly ONLY leading or lagging (except perhaps at the very end of a chromosome), this concept only holds true if we're looking at one replication fork or a replication bubble where one strand has a primer somewhere in the middle. Okazaki fragments occur on BOTH strands.

    Thank you so much for your video. But I still have a small doubt, can you tell the difference between DNA polymerase 123 and DNA polymerase alpha beta gamma delta and Epsilon? Are the number polymerases same as the polymerase with Greek letters? According to what I read from a book, it says that the numbered polymerases are for replication in bacterial cell but the Greek lettered polymerases Are for replication in human cells.
    Can you please clear this doubt?

    I love this channel so much its entertaining and taught in the way I typically learn drawing as we go prevents me from getting overwhelmed and helps as I can watch the process build and understand why everything is there not just what it does. Plus you covered so many areas, i'm studying veterinary so tying the points to illnesses keeps me engaged! Absolutely brilliant!!!!!!

    I do have a question : Doesn't Helicase work on both ends so wouldn't the leading strand will also have few nucleotides left like the lagging strand?

      Yes that’s what I was also about to comment ☹️☹️☹️☹️

      Same question

    • @sanaamirza7
      @sanaamirza7 2 роки тому

      No, the direction in leading strand is from 3_5 just the same direction of Helicase work so as the Helicase open strands the process will remain at same direction , which is the opposite of lagging strand

    Another error found. The terms, “leading,” and “lagging,” strands apply to the newly synthesized DNA strands, not the parent strands.

    That was brilliant. I studied DNA replication in the past, but many years passed and I need to revise it for a test. I read a chapter of a book, but it wasn't complete and I had some doubts. After watching your video all my doubts are gone and I even learnt something new. I'm gonna watch also your videos about transcription and translation. I'll support your channel. Thanks for the great job!
