- Believe it or not, crashing my plane was one of the best things that could have happened. Without that moment, I wouldn't be living my dream today. Join me on the journey from adversity to triumph as I share how that crash sparked my passion for aviation and building custom bush planes.
Discover how adversity turned into opportunity, and find inspiration in the lessons learned and the joy of rebuilding. From fabricator to plane builder, this is the story of how a setback became my greatest motivation.

THAT... was AWESOME! :-) Good work Shane.
Thanks, means a lot! 👍🏻
Great work! I love seeing genuine passion and innovation come together to create new things. To quote the great Mike Patey “Every time something new gets built, the entire world advances “
I appreciate that!
Great video! 👍🏼
😂 Love the last shot. You should have had the Cub rolling out past the “camera” guy. 🤣🤙🏼
Dude. Great video. So glad you’re sharing your passion and expertise via UA-cam. I really wish I had time to do that. Keep em coming. 👊
Thanks Jeff! Love that we share the same passion!
Hell ya excited to watch this channel take off!
Can’t wait to show you more!!
I love it. Keep up building killer cubs...Love your work.
Thanks, I appreciate it! 👊🏻
I'm wearing my Acme Aero hat as I'm typing this. You're doing exactly what I've dreamt of doing for a while now, bush planes and all. I've been a structural welder for years now but looking to get into aviation. Particularly custom fabrication. I'm known around the shop for staring straight at the sky any time I hear a plane. Resident "Bird watcher" if you will. It's too cool to see what you've got going on and how you've made it into a career. I can't wait to see your channel grow! Cheers
You’ll never regret taking that step, look forward to sharing this journey together 👍🏻
Great video Shane! I am looking forward to the future videos as well, especially when you get into the detail of registering a home built and the inspection process. I'm currently building a PA14 and will admit I haven't done much in about 2 years BUT I'm itching to get back at it as soon as I can get it back to my home shop (still wet salty roads from snow here) and when I seen you started doing youtube also I got pretty excited to see a fellow Canadian building Cubs that knows the process. I know how to wrench, weld and machine... dealing with transport canada however not so much haha.
Awesome!! Not to worry there’ll be videos coming with the process of working with the MDRA and Transport Canada once I start the Turbine Cub! The whole building process will be on UA-cam! Thanks for following along. Looking forward to watching your project come together 👊🏻
Just made a new subscriber!! Keep on making videos!! The more you make, the better you will get
Being in front of the camera is definitely not my strong suit but I’ll keep trying 👊🏻 thanks for the encouragement!
Great video Shane!! Can’t wait for more!
Can't wait to see more from you love you're stuff
Thanks, we’re working on getting more content up soon.
New creator! Looking forward to seeing what you have to share with us.
Can’t wait to show you more & thanks for watching 👊🏻
Great story and glad you’re sharing it. I’ve actually wondered how you got started and this answers my questions! Big fan of your builds!
Thanks so much! Can’t wait to start sharing the Turbine Cub build!!
Easter egg..?
I hope Cleetus see this guy good luck man on here glad I could be here from the start
Me too!! Would love to build something cool with Cleetus! Maybe he’ll want in on the Turbine Cub 👍🏻
The main reason you use RUDDER to level out when near a stall is not to "speed up the wing". If one wing drops, it has just started to stall. If you use aileron, putting the aileron down on the stalled wing increases its angle of attack further and you stall it more deeply.
Thanks for clarifying. Yes the Aileron does increase the angle of attack which increases the stall. Ailerons neutral, kicking the opposite rudder speeds that wing up and levels the aircraft. I had a RC aircraft that didn’t even have ailerons and you just used the rudder. The point is in slow flight Rudder,Rudder. Appreciate your comment.
I'm happy I stumbled across this. I'm actually familiar with your work just didn't know who the person was behind it
Glad you found me! 👍🏻
Don't need to win a pilot's license, but I love horsepower, too!
I’m happy to hear that you have your pilot’s license already, we’re excited to promote aviation but if the winner already has their license they’ll get cash value instead👍🏻
@@ShaneMadson well I wouldn't turn it down lol!
love from Bangladesh ❤❤❤
Right on Rudebaega
Love it!😀
Like the intro and chat. I dont think those tyres are big enough 😂
You survived a stall spin. 👍🙂👍
I was only 5 feet above the ground.
Love your work and inspiring story. I have a project which is a champ / decathlon airframe with some 172 wings and a pair of 912 engines… hopefully someday I’ll get it flying The end of the video was great!
Thanks so much for your comment, I can’t wait until you get your project flying!! I love that we share the same passion. Never stop building 👍🏻

A cameraman may never qui9t, but a cameraman never leaves their equipment on the ground! Go back, you fool, go back and cleanup after yourself!
After all, the best pilots clean up after themselves and only leave footprints and receipts of their experience here.

It would be a dream come true for me to be a pilot. I can't do HVAC anymore due to being ran over by a truck while on my motorcycle which messed up my right knee. I would happily be your shop guy if you would be willing to help me out. I would send you a resume but it would probably just make you laugh at how pathetic it makes me look because the official resume only covers official work so mine is full of holes between seemingly unrelated jobs. Im not the type of guy that traditional companies like but if you gave me a shot I would blow your mind.
🫶🏻🤙
I see that cheesy intros and I run a mile
Thanks for your feedback! We appreciate hearing different perspectives as we continue to improve our content.
YEAH BUT IS THE F.A.A. AND YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY GLAD AS WELL?????
Insurance company didn’t care one bit. I only had liability insurance. Total cost was all on me. 😉
Plural of aircraft is not "aircrafts" it's "aircraft".
What do you want, a medal? It's ok to turn the other cheek sometimes.
@@stratotramp6243 Just an observation, relax.
You’re right what do you expect from someone like this? I doubt he has a pilots license and I’m glad he’s not near me.
DE EVOLUTION INTO IDIOCRACY!....
He builds aircraft, you build grammars
Cool
AND LOWER YOUR NOSE!!! FFS, WHY DO PEOPLE ONLY CARE ABOUT THE RUDDER?
