NO WAY YOU COVERED THIS! My Uncles best friend was a Native American apart of the Northern Paiute tribe where the second hole ‘was’. My dads family was heavily associated with them but especially my uncle, he grew up with these people from very young and my uncle spoke about this hole for years, they saw ALOT more strange and bizarre things from that hole then was what told in the video, from when they were as young as 5 years old, from sounds, flashing lights, multiple entities and even Disney-like fairies just to name a FEW. This as well wasn’t included in the story but my uncle told me that the military actually DID find and take the second hole as well and told me that paiute were given a lot of money to give their land and keep quiet.

The most ridiculous part of that story is that he was being paid 3 mil a year just to hang out in Australia and yet he still chose to fuck it up. That is less plausible than any of the fantastical elements shown on this channel.

It's unfortunate that our existence is so fragile and, on top of that, some people are determined to make it unbearable. Someday one of these holes will turn inside out like a sock and crunch us out of existence. Or something along those lines.

I was a huge art bell fan because I used to work nights to get through school. I was listening live to that least the first three Mel Waters episodes. It was absolutely intriguing and I knew that I did not care if it was true because it was such a fun story to follow in real time. I was working at a kids psychiatric hospital at the time and worked with some other weird Night Shift people. I turned one guy onto the story and he became obsessed. He spent the next two years going back-and-forth to Ellensburg to try to find Mel’s hole. Even though he never found it, he had a ball trying to. I thought about the stories so often and told the story so often that people ask me to tell it. I never heard the last chapter with the weird magic seal, and I’m glad I didn’t. Because it would’ve ruined the little bit of hope that I had that it was real.

Some other suspicious points I noted: 1) roll after roll of fishing line eventually weighs more than the line can support; 2) no one ever thought to lower a camera into either hole; 3) no one ever filed a FOIA request on it; 4) in neither case did anyone think to bring in university researchers such as geologist; 5) why they didnt save the sheep carcass or the tomur; 6) locals in WA would have remembered the military presence. Still a very good story.

Yes, nylon has weight and stretches. This has been a problem with dropping instruments deep in the ocean even while the nylon is almost weightless in water. 10,000 feet of fishing line would have broken. If he had used steel cable powered by a powerful winch i might believe him.

I once lived among those Basques mentioned in the video. Back in the 1950s, my father was an anthropologist in the area, and he was welcome among tribes, outlaws, and the Basques. That “seal” was mistranslated way back when, and the story stuck. The Basques, even before Mel Waters, described sightings of a type of cryptid that came out of wells as more of an orb with roundish eyes. While I never saw it myself, the legend apparently remained when Mel Waters came around and popularized it.

Gonna be totally honest. As a viewer and a UA-cam creator what you said at the end couldn’t be more true. Telling a great story is important . BUT you never leave us without the facts as they exist and your own grounded opinion. I suspect you and I would disagree on as many things as we agree on. The biggest mystery is why they have a huge area of the ridge you can't see on Google earth when you can go east and see the entire Hanford reservation. You would figure the nuke plants from the Manhatten project would be more of a security issue than a hole in the ground. The area is a Hotspot for UFO activity. I did extensive research into this entire story of "Mel's Hole", because at the time I owned a house not far from where this supposedly happened in Oregon. I found ZERO evidence to verify any of it, and ZERO evidence of anyone by Mel's full name having ever owned the property. YES, the property was located, using Mel's directions, and two men went out to investigate it and record what they found.
They spoke with neighbors who said that they had not heard about nor witnessed anyone using it as a trash dump, nor had they seen any military occupation of the area EXCEPT for a long-standing military training base nearby. The men filmed the "hole" in question, which turned out to be not as large in diameter as Mel had described it. They noted the presence of wildlife living near the hole, and that birds were flying overheard without hesitation. They could not test how far down the well went, because someone had screwed a metal screen over the entrance.
Furthermore, what they found was surrounded by a BRICK retaining wall, and-get ready for it-was on private RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY, not government-owned. I have every reason to believe the entire thing was a HOAX, and I was told that in his last years, even Art Bell said that he believed the whole thing was a HOAX.

The last of the real LSD-25 in America. Unless you have some Swiss pharmaceutical stash. There was a trap door in his yard. A short fella, old looking but nimble like a elf. What ever that meant. Took them to the hole, but called it a different name. He was very detailed. Left shortly after that on a sailboat he built by hand with out power tools and never returned. Was never found. You had to be healthily critical to about 90% of anything presented on his show but like you said, Art was a master and could keep a straight face no matter what his guest was talking about. No matter how outlandish a person was, it always sparked your imagination and allowed you to escape from reality for a bit, like any good piece of entertainment should.

To put the claim of an 80,000ft well in context, officially, the deepest hole ever dug is the Kola Superdeep Borehole in Murmansk, Russia. The Kola well initially reached 7km (about 23000ft) and was later extended to a record 40,230ft with branches from the central well. The drilling was halted due to a lack of funding and the fact that it released a large amount of hydrogen gas and what was described as "boiling mud" as it had penetrated the Baltic Shield continental crust. To this day it is known to locals as "The Well to Hell".

So there are more of them. I remember reading about a similar bottomless hole, which I think was in the South of France. I don't remember the specifics, but some time during the medieval period, a local lord or official of some kind heard of this stone-lined hole in the Earth that just goes down as far as the eye can see, into total blackness. They too experimented with tossing things into the hole, and eventually decided to lower a person into it to see what they could report. With no volunteers, they made the offer to some prisoners that if one of them volunteered and was able to give an enlightening report, he would be set free.
They got a volunteer, and set up a pulley over the hole to lower him down with a torch. They hadn't lowered him down far, certainly not far enough that he and his light should have disappeared, but the light vanished suddenly, and the sounds of terrified screams came up the hole. They quickly brought the man back up, fearing an animal attack or something, but when he came back into view, he was dead, his body desiccated and his hair had turned completely white.
With no more volunteers willing to step up after that, they did the only logical thing they could think of: paved over it and built a church on top of the site.
Edit: After some research, I think the location is actually Houska Castle, in Czechia, and the building built over it was a fortress, not just a church. But the fortress was designed with its defenses pointed inward.

@@JBen3774 haha. I'm living pretty comfortable thanks. If you don't want anyone commenting on your comment then, don't comment on a public forum. 🤣 Enjoy your children's shows, I'm sure you'll learn something from the talking fish.
While you're working, I'm off to go diving with real fish. 🤷‍♂️

I am an avid Art Bell fan. The media is saturated with people talking about the paranormal these days, but few approach the topics the way Art did. He used to say "Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out." That is why I love this channel. AJ looks at the phenomena he reports on from all sides logically and inserted some humor in there, too, when appropriate. Watching this channel fills the gap Art left behind.

You should look into goss lake whidbey Island Washington. It's hard to find info on. No one can. Find the bottom of it. It's a small secluded lake. People have sent lines down 45 thousand feet. No bottom. The lake is only about an 8th of a mile wide thou With your research skills perhaps you can find out "why" Aj :)
