Be sure to check with your insurance company as they often fix these for free (no deductible). They have done our previous car at the working parking lot and for my X in my garage. The one on my X used a little air compressor to slowly push the resin in. And they had a UV light device. The kit in this video was pretty cool and definitely something to do if your insurance doesn't cover it.
Very nice if you live in a state that doesn't do windshield repair as part of your insurance. I live in Florida and get free windshields/crack repair. I'd always go professional.
An additional hint: when the wiper blades are in service mode, you can push them manually all the way left up to the top position. They are not blocked while they are in service mode.
Thanks for this useful idea and demonstration Brian. Thanks to the awful roads, windshield paint chips is most talked about issue in California. Who wouldn’t like clean windshield and long life wipers🤣. Take care 👍🏻
That’s awesome, great video Brian! DirtyTesla uploaded how to fix paint chips today and you uploaded how to fix glass chips. We’re all set for summer now haha. I was always curious about how well these kits worked. I’ll have to get one for when the inevitable happens. Thanks again!
TX you can get it included in your insurance and chips usually are fixed at no cost. The problem is that if you ever try and change insurance it shows up as an "claim" it will say it was under $500 but it does show as a claim. I had a friend who had bad luck and had about 5 in a 2 year period and when he tried to change insurance he got high quotes from everyone. Turns out these count as claims... it is crazy. I learned to just pay a professional to do it "off the job" - $30 to $40 and they do an amazing job. I am sure they use the parts from their company so to them it is all profit.
Most insurance is no deductible glass. They will try to patch it or replace the windshield. Took me a 5 minutes phone call to the insurance company to setup a professional and guaranteed fix. Highly recommend just calling your insurance. Once the wipers are in service mode, can't you swing them around ? Pretty sure you can
If a crack occurs in the black area, the sun will heat up the black area to a higher temperature than the clear glass. This can cause differential stress that causes the crack to propagate. It happened to me.
My Y has finally arrived. Trying to set an appointment to pick up. Tesla needs some lessons in customer service. Having been a new vehicle dealer for over 30 years, any bread with this low level of customer service would have not survived. It’s incredibly sad to experience

I forgot about that!
That's a great comment on fixing the chips saving the wiper blades, I never would have thought of that.

I've used those kits for years. They really do work great!

Very cool!
I had no idea you could DIY that repair so cheaply! Thanks for some valuable information! Great video!
Glad it was helpful!
For the final step i would suggest to scrape the majority around the spot. And polish the last part. Will look even better👍🏻
Had the same exact problem with my Y. Same spot too. Thanks for the video.
Wipers move completely freely in service mode, would be easily to just pull them out of the way from the chip
Yes I forgot about that

4:31 “IM GOING TO PULL OUT”🤣🤣
In FL insurance is required to replace up to 2 windshields per year.
Sorry about your windshield Brian. Hate when this happens! 😡 I went through this twice 🙉
Fantastic kit, Brian!
I used that same technique to get my wife pregnant
Removing the dust before inserting is the best technique.
Wow. Thanks for sharing this info!
Interior garage door, with plexiglass. Would be great for a shop divider. :)
Thanks for the DIY video Brian. This is very helpful.
A stich in time saves nine Ben Franklin....If you have a chip like that, it can spider crack to a larger one that makes the windshield unusable.
Cool video thanks got one for paint?
Wow...I wanted to know how to do this. Thanks Brian
Happy to help!

Good to know
Hey, is that windshield still good?
Great video!!

Yes it will
i1Tesla Ok Thx Or Mahalo From Hawaii..
Great demo. Honestly, though, is this something your Dad (my age) would attempt on his own by just watching your video and without your direct help?
Good video

Lucky it not below it or near any edge it needs to be removed
