If you leave the Password text box blank when you are setting up windows 10 or 11 for the first time, it will automatically never ask you for the password..
Yup. This is what I was going to say, but I noticed your comment.
I used to have it like this, but I’m not sure if it was an update however, I had to start clicking on “sign in” to ever see the desktop but by following these instructions I’m again able to avoid you having to click anything to get to the desktop.
I just reinstalled and it would not allow me to leave blank... 2/28/24 date of reinstall
Sorry Brian It doesn't always work for Windows 10/11 to boot directly to the desktop. It's not particularly difficult, but it's only possible if you use a "local user account" on the Windows 10 or 11 computer. If the user account is linked to a "Microsoft account", it is not possible to start Windows 10 without a password. That's because unauthorized people, if they don't have to enter your Microsoft account password, can access your email, documents, and everything related to Microsoft's online services.
Do you have any idea to round the startup with the user account linked to a "Microsoft account?
Maybe search 'nolocksreen password' in regestry/regedit
Pretty much it is possible because my old windows has an account connected and it has no password in the sign in. I'm just trying to figure out how i did it.
Not true. I have only one Account (Mircosoft) and my pc boots without password. All I remember is that I had to change something in the registry to "0". Here it gets explained, but it is german ---------> "Windows 10 & 11 OHNE Passwort starten! (2024)"
this is the video you wanna watch. explains the whole process of getting it set up in full...unlike others, who skip steps confusing the shit out of you when you can't find "that" option.
Everything you post is useful. Thank you, mate!
Glad you think so!
I have just upgraded to 23h2 Windows 11 and my regedit does not show passwordless/device I went to find funct and searched passwordless it only came back with enable password less but no device folder. I have been using the no password func for years but new windows upgrade wiped that facility out.
YESSSS!!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH BRO IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!!! :))))) (running windows 11) video was really informative, short and to the point. Bravo sir👍👍👍
I do find that having to log in every time annoying but I guess that's the price to pay for having security. But this is still very good to know none the less should I ever feel the need to remove the security. However what I would like to see is for Microsoft do something like this for updates, so when the system re-boots it automatically returns you back to home screen and not login screen. That is the only time I would like that
What I am curious about is if this is done can you still lock screen by clicking lock or sign out to lock computer to require a password or pin? Or does this circumvent it all?
Great video,
Thank you Brian!
Was going to ask what the advantage was - but it's just dropped. Using this method you go straight into Windows desktop at bootup. I don't have a password set up on my home PC but I still have to click 'OK' on the challenge screen - wish you'd said that, nice one.
Thanks, Brian. I've been doing this for a few years. 👍
Yeah, nothing new
Thank you so much, I've spent few hours searching to how to start my windows 10 without typing my password, I've watched many videos, but yours is the best, I am really glad that AT LAST was able to start my windows without a password.
I dont understand why microsoft made it so hard and difficult to start without password.
Best regards.
My worry is - what happens if your laptop is stolen?
@@erikeithsuzanne8911why would they when they would have access to to your whole system
This like leaving your phone easily accessible. Bad idea.
buy a new one
They will remove password anyways.
You can follow the same method as if you're changing the password, but leave the new password blank, to remove the password (local account only).
You’ll still get the Sign In button. The way Brian has shown skips that
@@mikebaker2927 It doesn't at boot.
Once I get under Windows NT,Current Version,I have no passwords file.
same here
Thanks Brian. This helped me find why the checkbox option wasn't available.
Love all your videos they are always helpful, thanks Brian
Glad to hear it
Thanks, Brian. It's really very helpful
PasswordLess does not show on my version of win 10
Can also go to Accounts > Sign in Options, remove password.
Yes,😂. Just leave the password section empty and password will be removed.
Hi there , i got confused a little bit, you have removed the password, but it is still password enabled on that account, then after restarting Windows without a password automatically login into Windows? if yes, what was the point?
No point.😂 You can simply remove the password without entering any password by leaving the password tag empty.
Just don't input any keyword in password section and click on next.
Will this method work if you sign in with a pin instead of a password?
I've only ever used PINs, what are people talking about when they say password"?
I didn't bother with the regedit part. I've been doing this everytime I install Windows and just go to the netplwiz part. I don't get why you had to do the registry edit first.
cuz some system it does not have that checkmark to remove the password so the regedit enable that smile
Thanks,Brian,at last,no password required for a desktop pc.I'd still keep it for a portable device, though.Just my preference.
w vid not like the oithers ones where take forever to explain and it doesnt even work thank you, you get straight into the point and explain well!!!
Can't thank you enough! Subed
Thanks so much. I spent hours on this until I found your video.
Thanks for the video Brian. Great as always!
You made it look so easy BUT....I don't have "PasswordLess" listed under my current version???
When I scroll down current version to where it should be, I have 'OpenGLDrivers' then next below that is 'PeerNet'.🤷♀
The login is driving me nuts!
My laptop is running windows 10.
First used a 'pin code' and decided to remove that, but now windows requires me to type my full password to login instead!🤦♀
Before watching your video I previously went into accounts and UNchecked the box which says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
But after re-start, windows STILL asks for a password to login!!
That's what brought me to your video. I'm still searching for a way to accomplish this!
Maybe "PasswordLess" wasn't listed because I went into account and removed checkmark first?? I dunno!! 😣
What a faff for something that many users would prefer!
Four mouse clicks on my MX Linux machine. Yet Linux is 'too hard for everyday users'!
You are great!!!! Thanks a lot!!!!
hi brian thats a great help never knew you could use regedit to do it this is a much easier way.your videos always a great help.
Thank you Sir! This method is tricky I thought it is simple as I think.
Might actually do this on 1 of my systems, it barely has any data on it and the data that is on it isn't data that I need to keep secure.
Its a old trick that's been around for years
Warning! This process did not work well at all for my Lenovo IdeaPad 320.
After reboot it took me to a screen that said " we are unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later."
After the second reboot, an error message window popped up but quickly dropped so I couldn't tell what the error was. Then went back to the same process.
Eventually (several minutes) I was routed to a generic screen with date and time with no indication of log in. Clicking on the screen brought me to a log in screen asking for my password again.
After another lengthy wait I was finally logged into my desktop.
At one point I was not sure if I was locked out of my system. I'll try to revert back.
While trying to revert back, I find that in the user accounts box no longer shows the option of turning on/off user password requirement. After rebooting, again, the mess starts all over again.
Not happy. The boot process is now more than twice as long as it was.
This is a good reminder to all to back your system up BEFORE trying these kinds of things from self proclaimed experts.
Use a local account with no password set
Same thing happened to me and I did not back up my data before trying it.
Hi this works great, if you turn on or restart your pc, but when I just put it to sleep and than wake it up, it wants pin (password) again. Is there a workaround? Thank you
Thank you so much. Great tutorial.
Why no just disable the password....if it's just going to login no issues...
the registry editor has removed "passwordless" this option does not work any longer.
Once again thanks your brilliant
If anyone is having trouble with an online account that duplicates, in User Name try writing the email adress instead of the actual user name.
Good to know information. Thanks 4 sharing! Cheers !! 😎😎😎
No problem 👍
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro. When I installed Windows 7 I left the password blank and I never needed to log in. This carried over to the Windows 10 Pro upgrade.
Would that explain why I do not have a "PasswordLess" choice ? It's not there. thanks
It didn't work. It just made a new account.
Wow brilliant, this is just like having no password.
Thanks for the video.
Very helpful stuff...thank you very much
doesn't work on the lastest windows 11 apperently.. the checkbox is missing even after adding the key and restarting
I believe I did everything. I only have the one user account, but when it boots it shows me two users with my name, one Admin and the other with no profile photo that is trying to log in, and an error message that the password is false. I switch to my user and give the password and then I get in.
Where is the 2nd user from and how do I control it if I can't even see it under Users?
following these steps when i restart it shows two accounts with the same name , the newly created is unaccesible by password ... the old profile still asks for pswd
When creating an account and it ask for password just press enter. No need to go into regedit. It has worked since windows XP
Only vid I found that worked. Tried like so many otter videos that didn’t work
you are awesome, i was looking this for many time
Excellent tip 👍
Does this method still enforce a password when logging in remotely (RDP)?
Mine already had a zero and worse yet, after following someone else's how-to, I now have two identical user names at log in, although one doesn't work at all. What a mess.
Sorry Brian It didn't work for me as well. Instead when I login it shows two account with same name, one asking for PIN and another asking for password (which i guess would be Microsoft password)
Very useful tip. Thanks
A simpler way MUST be possible. Could user just sign in (to his local account) to the machine, and through Accounts in Settings, just change his password to be completely empty?
u are genius sir 👍👍👍👍
Always great … thanks Brian
My pleasure!
what if we use a pin.
It worked for me .. Thank you.
Thanks for the video!
Will this work if I am using a pin number
How can I turn the password back on?
So why make it easy for the PoPo?
I guess my new HP lap top has a knock off windows 11 because when I open local machine I see none of those files
Thank youuu still work dec 2023 👍🏻
Didn't work for me. I'm guessing a recent windows update eliminated this workaround. Anyone else see this after Dec 2023?
yeah doesnt work for me idk why
this is so hard!!!! If i am not a computer hacker I can do it. it is for my daughter computer' everytime she needs the microsoft password to start the computer and everytime a code should be sent to my mobile and I have to transfer it to her mobile in order for her to click it and than start.
no go. and it created a new useless account at bootup which it defaults to. I then have to do extra steps to get to my account at the list. I reversed the steps to what it was and still get that dummy account. So I want to delete that account.
Brilliant, thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
I didn't use the regedit, just the second part and it works fine.
Under Users I don't get the"Users must enter a username or password to use this computer check box".
Will that work with a pin number.
do businesses still run Windows NT these days or what
Not working with my windows 11, still asking password
Thanks man🎉
Great Man!!!
Thanx worked perfectly >👍👍
Does this method work with Microsoft account too? Thanks!
no it doesn't sorry
Nope, only local password
Thanks!
I'm on MS account and It worked for me but without registry step. Plus you have to go to settings/accounts/sign--in options/require sign-in set to never. Cheers
@@MarioArioRioIoOoooo Same here.
"passwordless does not appear in my list ???
Every time windows does an update. It makes it so I don’t need a password to log on. Pisses me off. Then I have to go back and turn it back on.
Thank you Britec09, but what about all the relentless log ins and verifications to open Gmail or Google?
login and save user and password in browser. - not recommended -. Anyone who use your browser can type gmail in the adress bar and see your mail
Yes but after clicking on my saved email and passwords there often follows 2 step number verification and pin or fingerprint
@@newellbarrett5537 ok, i dont know know how every browser in the world works but there have to be a way.
If you use edge it may be a "Edge thingy" it does.
Since it ask for pin (windows pin?).. only the operating system know the pin code to log in.
The number verification is the same as i get when i log in to my mail and such, its a 2 step verification. I think you can turn it off in the service settings it you want it easy but i cant say how it affect the safety.
There is a setting in many services that remember the computer MAC and it wont ask for the verification from that MAC next time if you save the computer/device, that way you will have the extra 2 step verification but it wont ask you for it when you use that computer/device.
I dont know what services you use and i dont want to know, privacy, private life and such.. but look in the settings for the services you use and look for 2 step verification setting.
The 2 step verification is sent from the service, not the browser.
I got a situation where the 2 step verification was the best safety yesterday.. i checked my mail and someone did try and reset my password on a facebook account i never use anymore. So the 2 step verification can be a good safety feature, like in my case.
They never managed to change my password or log in to my facebook account.
Loooool i never knew about this i wish i knew this when i was a kid
Thanks for watching
Thank you so much!
Just keep your password is the best advice a simple 4 digit number is all that you need. Never mind all this malarkey
Hi sir, i don't want to start my windows 10 with a password so i followed your path. I can't find passwordless in the regedit. Any idea ? Thks a lot.
Skip that, go to part 2
How is it, being that I operate an up-to-date version of Windows 10, that when I view these tutorials and follow the instructions step by point, they're NEVER anything even Close to what I have and see on my system? Even the very layout, the Format is drastically different to the point of "Huh? Now, what the Hell is THAT crap?!"
Legend 👍
Been doing it for years. But you really do not need the regedit for this. Also install Windows without a MS account. ☺
I've also been using this for a few years, but don't recall having to do anything in the registry before running _netplwiz._
I still prefer the Windows Hello fingerprint method. Just "feels" more secure
Not working
Thank you
when my daughter comes home from uni and looks to take over my pc and uses her college account it locks me out of my own ms login - which has caused me untold annoyances when I'm trying to authorise my outlook account and Office account. can I just reverse it instantly, to keep her off my pc?
Cant you just go to the user account and deal with this. All the registry stuff you gotta go through as a pain in the ass. I didn't have to do this and I go directly to my desktop every time I turn on my computer. They make it exceptionally hard to do this when you buy a new computer
There's got to be an easier way of doing this. . .
this key isn't in my Home ver - is it specific to the Pro ver ?
Skip the registry modification, still works fine
love your videos but there is a easier way to do this it takes less then 20 secs
why would anyone want to do this? wouldnt anyone be able to sign in instantly that isnt you? I use a 5 digit Pin to sign in.
