- Waterfalls, Lakes and Snakes, oh my! This section of the Pinhoti was an adventurers dream. From beautiful lakes to magnificent waterfalls to, of course, snakes! I’ve seen more snakes on the Pinhoti than I ever saw on the PCT. I hope you enjoy this video and I hope you'll continue with me on this epic journey of the Pinhoti Trail.

Wow you’re a great story maker! I really enjoy watching your movies. They’re witty, funny, sad, appealing and basically sympathetic! I love your camera work and the way you edit, it’s not just talking head stuff. I’ve been watching hiking videos for several years now and you’re in my top five!😁 Thank you for all the work you do, it’s good for the soul!❤
You are very kind Wood Chip. I am so glad that you appreciate and enjoy the videos.👍❤️😁
Glad you outran that train…lol 🚂🛤️ pretty country 🥾🥾🥾
😂😂😂
So glad you are able to enjoy hiking again. I followed your PCT hike. I did the Georgia section of the AT two years ago. It was a great time, but the mountains in Georgia are straight up and straight down. They will get your heart pumping for sure. Enjoy and be safe!!
That is the truth, Randy. Straight up and straight down, no switch backs.😁❤️👍
Your videography skills just keep getting better and better. Love your videos!
Thanks Greatdane Walking. 😁👍❤️
Rev, I think you found your second calling. What a fantastic video, snakes, trains, and breathtaking(pun intended) climbs. So enjoyable to watch, glad you’re doing well and thanks for taking us along.
Thanks Larry. I am so glad that you are able to come along.👍😁❤️
Great video Rev, looks like the green leaves are getting fuller and fuller. Definitely a green tunnel. That stairway to hell, oh I mean heaven looked brutal (as you like to say). Doing Warner to pvc tomorrow (Mon) so I finally get to try out that new tent. Wish you could be here to join me but maybe later this year in NorCal. Cheers you’re doing great! Marmalade
Thanks my friend. It was a tough climb,, the stairway to heaven, but the views at the top were worth it. “In order to enjoy the views, you’ve got to pay the dues.”😁❤️👍
These are the best videos logs of the Pinhoti that I have seen on UA-cam. I live 1.5 hours west of the Pinhoti and have not hiked one foot of it. I have passed trailheads many times and I hope that I can begin hiking some of it this fall. Your videos are showing me the parts that I want to do first. THANKS!!
You’re welcome Tom. I highly recommend the Pinhoti. It’s a great trail (except the road walks). 😁
Come on Yah All, the Rev has over 22 thousand subscribers and only 441 likes on this video! You can't get more wholesome entertainment than this! It's the best "Reality Show" out there!!!
Thank you for taking us along Rev! Love the views, waterfalls and there is just something wrong about an animal that has no legs and can move like that!!!!!
Thanks Stephen. I’m going to have to hire you for my cheerleader! 😁
@@TheHikingRev you’re on, but I’m not waving any Pom poms!!! 😜
@@stephenrrose 😂😂😂
Great content as usual. Welcome to hiking in the East! The view from the top of the stairway to heaven was amazing. Often when hiking I stop, take a look around, and think "how can you not see God in all this beauty".
Thanks Charles. Ain’t that the truth! 😁👍❤️
AMEN.
Thumbs up for Train scene. Thanks and happy trails.
You’re welcome Mark.😁❤️👍
It was a pleasure enjoying your hike 🥾🥾🥾
Thanks David. I’m glad that you’re able to come along with me.👍😁❤️
Early bird catches the worm. Early hiker catches the spider webs! Someone should make a t-shirt! 😂 I sometimes wave my hiking poles in front of me to get rid of them.
Hey Reba. That’s what I was doing towards the end.👍😁❤️
WHOA! I thought there were 2 snakes, then I saw it was one LONG snake. 😳 That was a beautiful section of trail for sure.
It was a beautiful section of trail. And it was a LONG snake!😁👍❤️
I enjoy your videos. I look forward to them each week. Keep them coming.
Thank you Roger. I’m glad that you are able to come along with me on my journey.👍😁❤️
Rev, sorry about that restaurant being closed. It's been closed for a while. But still glad you are seeing our beautiful state!
Thanks Walt. I did get a frozen burrito out of it.😂
Alabama is not known as “Alabama the beautiful” for nothing. “Sweet Home Alabama.”😁❤️👍
When the Lord created Earth, He stood back to observe it all and absentmindedly threw down the last pieces of rock. Today, that place is known as The Rock Garden...
That's my take on it and I'm sticking to it... 🤔 😅
Hello Rev... It's always a pleasure to watch you trek. 😊
Thanks Steph. That is funny.😂😂😂
Another good video of your hiking journey. Other than the snakes I enjoyed seeing the trail. Congratulations on 100 miles. Blessings and safe hiking
Thank you Vickie. Yeah, those snakes were not my favorite.😁👍❤️
Great video Rev!! It was awesome meeting you on the trail! You're the man!!! J.D.
Thanks JD. It was great meeting you as well. You’ve got a great future in hiking and backpacking.👍😁❤️
Thanks so much for this series. I have yet to thru hike the Pinhoti but I have done the stairway to heaven climb several times!
Hey Greg. The Pinhoti is a hidden jewel. 😁
The scenic views are breathtaking.
Yes, they are Mark.😁👍❤️
Vwry much enjoyed this section of your hike. A blessed Lord's Day to you! Now, time for me to hit the trail before it rains...!
Thanks Ruth. Don’t forget your rain jacket.😁❤️👍
I felt the same way about that restaurant when I went looking. I settled for a can of ravioli and an ice cream.
😂🤣😂
Watching another excellent episode while eating a handful of crackers and peanut butter for lunch. Felt like I was with you...
Hey Mike. Yeah, there’s nothing like trail food huh? ❤️👍😁
Man these vids are crystal clear! Rev is this trail as relaxing as you are making it look? Oops I wrote this before The Stairway to Heaven! Thanks for all of your work making these stories.
😂😂😂 you’re welcome Jeff.
Enjoying your hike ver informative!! Watch out for those snakes!
Thanks Charles. I saw more snakes on the Pinhoti Trail than I did on the PCT.😁👍❤️
Thank you for sharing your adventures on trail with us. Your video's are very good. Happy trails and stay safe out there.
Thanks Theresa. I realize that some people cannot do what I’m doing so that’s why I am sharing them.😁❤️👍
Great adventure Rev!...yup snakes can be a bit of a worry...hike on amigo!..woods
Gracias Woods. Yeah it doesn’t really matter what kind of snake it is. A snake is a snake.😁❤️👍
Rev,
As always, I really enjoy your videos. Two comments:
1. I also seem to always find myself as the trail blazer and if I had saved all the spider webs I walked through I could have a very fine kimono.
2. About 16:45 in this video - you should do a tutorial on how you set up your Zpacks.
Happy Trails!
Thanks Montegomm.
1. 😂
2. That sounds like a good video to me. Thanks for the suggestion.😁👍❤️
I really love your videos Rev. Great shots and edits.
Thanks Charlie. I’m glad you enjoy them. 😁👍❤️
This is great. Looks like you're running into a lot of pleasant people (and creatures!).
Hey Rod. The Trail Angel Community and the Hiking Community on the Pinhoti is unbelievable. 😁❤️👍
Great video Rev! Always look forward to more from you. I got a kick out of the 'railroad' skit. hahaha. Be safe and God Bless!
Yeah, you got to do anything to keep your sanity while being in the wilderness all by yourself. 😂
Well done with your trip, camera work and well-told story with adventure including drama and the perfect resolution. We felt so sorry for your disappoint not being able to sink your teeth into a tasty mean but hey, at least the snake didn't sink its teeth in you - kingsnake, black racer, cottonmouth or whatever! Blessings and thanks for sharing your journey, Spiderman Michael😜
Thanks. Yeah, it was kind of disappointing.👍😁❤️
Pretty country! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome Jean. The Pinhoti Trail is truly a hidden gem.👍❤️😁
Good to see you on Day 3. You seem totally happy to be out there walking among the trees, creeks and snakes! Enjoy the honeybun. Hate you didn’t get a hot meal at the restaurant. Hope you enjoy Cave Springs. It’s a nice little town. Good people!
Hey Mary. This trail has been absolutely marvelous.😁👍❤️
Enjoying your commentary about finding joy in all things and situations. The rocky bits of trail remind me of the Bruce Trail just outside of Milton Ontario that I hiked a bit of recently. Btw, your tent is pitched perfect every time. Thank you for sharing and enriching my life. Tanya
Awww…thanks Tanya. What brings me fulfillment is to realize that perhaps maybe someone was helped by me. 👍😁❤️
Great video, Rev. You obviously had a fun time in this one, thank you for sharing that! Too bad about the missed burger. That must have hurt! ;)
Thanks Mike. Yeah the frozen burrito in the microwave just didn’t do it for me. 😂
Wow! What a beautiful and massive Gray Rat Snake at the end!! Beautiful journey so far Rev, congrats on the 100 miles! You're a true inspiration!
We always called that a king snake, but we were definitely not biologists.
Oh...oops, I see it now. spoke too soon. sorry.
Thanks Sway_onthetrail. 😁👍❤️
By the way, I recently saw one of those Grey Rat snakes and actually knew what to call it. Thanks!
Love your videos Rev! You are an inspiration.
Thank you JimmyJamGTO. You’re very kind.😁❤️👍
A great adventure! Keep it up! Looks like you had some great weather too!
The weather was extremely great. Little humidity overcast, somewhat perfect weather.
Congrats on 100 miles. Great video - views of the forest, views o the surrounding areas, streams, waterfalls and even snakes. Glad you made it through the rock garden. Enjoyed traveling with you, Rev. Enjoy the trail. Take care of yourself and be safe.
Thanks Judith. The Pinhoti Trail is a beautiful trail…even the rock garden. 😂
Great video. Minus the snakes. 😅
Thanks bud. Yeah I almost stepped on the first one. The second one I didn’t see it until I was almost on it and the third one was pretty close as well.😁👍❤️
I really love you videos, Rev! Love the different angles that you use!
Thanks. 😁👍❤️
I’ve missed your videos. Rejoice!
Thanks Robin. I’m glad you enjoyed them.👍😁❤️
Echo and I enjoyed watching this section of your hike- gorgeous shaded trail with streams and waterfalls!! We don’t walk thru the spiderwebs until late summer here. Emory used to clear them out but now that he prefers me hiking in front, it’ll be me 😢. I’d love to know what kind of snakes those are??? Beautiful and quite large 😮. I’m impressed with your energy - would love to make some videos of us on the trail but too lazy to walk back and forth to retrieve my phone to video us hiking along. Nice to see other hikers on the trails- solo hikes like you? No gals? Disappointing the restaurant was closed- it should have said so wherever you get your info. We did some hiking today on the PCT near Cascade Locks (OR)- perfect temp and flowers in bloom. 🌸
Hey Rebecca. Yeah, I hate that. Those spiderwebs hit you right at eye level.
I love that section by cascade locks. 👍😁❤️
Enjoying following your journey Rev. Cheaha SP is supposed to be one of our "premier" state parks. The restaurant has been closed for some time & I'm not sure what's the issue. It's certainly disappointing for all the visitors and hopefully it will be corrected soon.
Thanks. I do too.SDC. The restaurant has been closed since 2020.🤷
Dear Rev--thank you so much for sharing your hikes and all the lessons the trail has shown you. Inspires this 60+ 'er to keep going! :) **I notice you mention the weather. Have you found one specific resource to get your weather reports? Thx again!
You’re welcome AndMore. I use the app “Weather Underground.” 😁
You are a joy!
Thank you Bobbie. You’re very kind.😁👍❤️
Beautiful!!
Thank you Deborah. 😁👍❤️
glad to see you rev hike easy be well
Thanks Robert.😁❤️👍
I love your videos! So peaceful and quiet. I also make videos of my hiking adventures in Colorado and would appreciate getting a bit more traffic my way! Thanks!
Keep it up Rev!
Thanks Tina. I’ll definitely check your channel out.👍😁❤️
Love following your videos! Would love to see a video on how you film, edit software, equipment you use and any filming tips! I’m an older hiker, 70 Yrs, and wanting to film my AT Thru hike. Would love to learn from a mentor!
Hey @horsedog713. Thanks. Don’t forget…age is just a number.
I have a video on Filming Your Hike. I’ll leave the link here. ua-cam.com/video/Sk5h9w1lOmM/v-deo.html
Hey Thanks again for another great video looking forward to the next one keep on humping brother loving it.Rev how are you liking your pack
You’re welcome Bill. I love my pack. It’s very comfortable. It sits close to my back. And it carries the load comfortably.😁❤️👍
great video series love the content thank you for bringing us along look forward to the rest of your hike. Question what backpack are you using?
Thank you Hike. I’m glad that you are able to come along with me.
This is a new backpack for me. It’s the Hyperlite Unbound 40. 😁👍❤️
😊
Thanks Brush Dragon. 👍😁❤️
At least they haven’t been rattling so far!
That’s the truth! 😁
Hi Rev,
Been enjoy your your Pinhoti Trail series. Question for you, are there places to resupply along the trail? Thanks you keep up the great content.
Thanks. Yes. They were great resupply places right off the Pinhoti Trail. My longest food-carry was three days.😁👍❤️ compared to the seven and eight day food carries on the PCT.
What a lovely video and trail Rev, it's so relaxing. It looked like a really tough hike, especially that rocky section. I'd really love to know how many miles on an average day do you try to cover and also the total climb, again on average. The 2000ft climb for the Stairway to heaven is no piece of cake either especially with a backpack so, what is your base weight of your pack minus food and water roughly?
Thanks Devon. My base weight is approximately 9 pounds without food and water. Yeah, the grade on the Climbs is what made it so hard and difficult.👍😁❤️
@@TheHikingRev That's a really nice weight, I need to get mine down. One piece at a time and I'll get there!
Good morning:
Can you do a review of the Pinhoti trail, getting to Flagg mountain the trail in general. It would be very much appreciated.
Hey Leo. I’m going to do a gear review and a trail review video after I publish all the trail videos. 👍
Nice to see the green forest. Close encounters with snakes! Did you ever have issues with ticks on that trail?
I only got one tick while I was on trail.👍😁❤️
Nice video work Rev. What camera did you use on the Pinhoti?
Thanks Tim. I used my Apple iPhone 14 Pro.😁
Hey Rev:
Question for you, I live in Texas and I’ve contacted several thru hikers trying to do trail magic for them.
I ask them if I could send them a package, REI card even provide a stay at a hostile? I’ve had one taker, Stella on the AT. Am I doing something wrong?
Ah but won't the first be last? lol. How's the condensation in that tent? Looks like you have it open most of the time, so that probably takes care of it. Looks like a humid area.
😂. I try to leave the storm flaps rolled up to help with condensation. so far I’ve not had any problems.😁❤️👍
Hi Rev I have a question, do u have any tick problems on your hike out there . We have a serious problem here in mass.
Doug, I only got one tick at the first of my thruhike. But I checked my whole body every night before going to bed.😁❤️👍
Now that wasn't a real viper well compared to out west that would be a goffer snake and as far as all the webs on the trail the other hikers found out "rev" was here so they slept in had breakfast and let you trail blaze the trail first and clear the path for them 😂🤠
Thanks Jose. I am willing to suffer for my fellow Hikers. 😁👍❤️
Creepy crawly
Yep. He didn’t move very fast even with all those legs. 😂
What kind of snake was that?
Sorry you didn’t get your hamburger. The lady should have made one for you.
I’m not sure what kind of snake it was.😁👍❤️
